Oh my Gosh - Little Friends from Valerie Pfeiffer
If these aren't the cutest little people... they are each only 2 x 3 inches in size!!! Presented as small charts, they are coded for DMC floss, and each pattern has two charts -- one that highlights the cross stitches, the other that highlights any backstitching.

Absolutely precious, the birds are also offered in other larger designs by Valerie -- pictured on our inside pages. They are 'kind of pricey' -- we are aware of that -- but I guess it's less expensive than planning a trip to the UK just to bring a few home!

Miniature Sampler Scissor Fobs from Kim's Needle Needfuls - click for more Miniature Sampler Scissor Fobs
Kim's Needle Needfuls has beautiful new miniature sampler scissor fobs! She has taken images of antique samplers, shrunk them down into bitty 1-inch miniatures, and mounted them into lovely antiqued brass findings (they are even pretty on the back). Then she's chosen glass, shell and brass beads, and strung them together to complement the tiny featured sampler! Each Sampler Scissor Fob is unique... every one is different... but we chose ALL vintage colors to complement the brass and the sampler.

Each fob from clam-shell end to sampler finial bead measures about 5 inches. These are LOVELY! Very nicely done, classy, and I'm having a really hard time choosing my favorite!!! Some are deep blue, soft green, antiqued reads and roses... golds... if you have a color preference, just ask. If you order an assortment -- we'll mix the colors and samplers for you.

With Needle and Thread from Samplers Not Forgotten - click to see more With Needle and Thread from Samplers Not Forgotten
What a CHARMING sampler design by Samplers Not Forgotten! *My Soul is fed with Needle and Thread.* I love everything about this piece!!!!! Presented as a chart, it is for anyone who loves to stitch! Worked on 36ct, it'll finish approx 11-1/2 x 8-1/2. Stitched with Sampler Threads and Classic Colorworks of Lexington Green, Roasted Marshmallow, Garden Gate, Endive, Wheat Fields, Brown Hen, Deep Fennel and Eggshell, the border is different all the way around.

Pretty white flowers, the scissors adorn the right edge while the spools of thread adorn the opposite. Your initials are on here nice and big -- because you are important! The flower urn is pretty just by itself, but so is the little yellow house with the band sampler below! Can you see the special stitches between the rows? There is a thimble on there... and the bottom band is a tape measure!!!!! Then, for a special touch -- choose some pretty antique buttons to embellish here and there... just so pretty!

from Brenda Keyes of The Sampler Company
Here is a pretty sampler -- very bold and organized -- balanced and stately! Presented as a chart, this measures 205 x 155 -- so finishes just 9-1/2 x 13 on 32ct. If you choose smaller fabric, you can make your finished piece smaller as well.

Charted for ONLY regular DMC floss of black, two shades of green, two shades of gold and a brown and red, you could easily change some of the colors to hand-dyeds if you wanted to. The border is pretty, alphabet is good, and the house is very eye-catching. It would make a wonderful *family established* piece!

You can still use your phone while your personal mini-fan is plugged in, it is silent, weighs nothing, and doesn't use lots of battery strength.

A fun little curiousity, neat for a sewing tool collection, pretty in a sewing basket, cool on a shelf beside other tools... it'd even be neat framed in a shadow box of needlework 'stuff!'

The Heart of a Friend by Moira Blackburn -- click to see moreThe Heart of a Friend from Moira Blackburn
Inspired by 'The Arrow and The Song' by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow -- you'll be touched by this sampler!!! it's a long verse...but wow! *I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to the earth, I knew not where; for so swiftly it flew, the sight could not follow in it's flight. I breathed a song into the air, it fell to the earth, I knew not where; for who has sight so keen and strong, that it can follow the flight of a song? Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroken and the song from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.*

Presented as a chart, the stitch count of this is 305 x 247 -- approx 19 x 15 on 32ct. Coded for just 9 colors of DMC, I am sure you can change any of those to hand-dyeds if you'd prefer. What a LOVELY piece -- it needs to be stitched for a very special friend!!!!!

Miniature Scissor and Key Fobs from Michael Powell
Presenting a delightful set of miniature key and scissor fobs -- all featuring the artwork of Michael Powell! I have always loved his things... and since he showed at market this Spring we were able to treat ourselves to lots of fun things!!! This is a collection of 6 different PAIRS of designs -- each is TWO-SIDED -- so each kit has essentially 4 designs in it! All are worked on 18ct canvas -- don't panic -- (it just makes a stronger and more durable fob when finished.) All Cross Stitch, the larger piece is the scissor fob -- 36 x 36 stitches -- finishing 2 x 2, while the key fob is a smaller companion version of the same design -- 27 x 27, finishing 1-1/2 inches square. Different on the fronts and backs, Michael has each of the 4 designs charted twice -- crosses on one chart, backstitch on another for clarity. All the flosses are included for everything... these are DARLING!!!!!

Sewing Clamp Box from Lone Elm Lane - click for more New Sewing Clamp Box from Lone Elm Lane
A charming new box featured on the cover of With Thy Needle's newest design... this little box is SO COOL! A concept by Brenda Gervais that Stephanie Elmer brought to be... this hand-made wooden box measures approx 4 x 4 x 3 with a clamping system that reaches down another 6 inches. It features a 1-inch deep recessed opening for your needlework. Next, there is a little 3 x 3 square drawer approx 1-inch deep that pulls out, and finally, the bottom features a 6-inch screwing clamp attachment that can fit up to a 1-1/2 inch thick table edge!

By far the coolest little box I have seen in a while... what an endearing decoration for your needlework! Currently offered in only the Vintage Dove finish... what a fun and unique way to finish and display a pretty pin cushion! If you are worried about damaging a table, consider a piece of felt underneath the box between it and your table, and a bitty piece underneath. You might want to clamp it out of reach of little hands -- this is the most intriguing thing -- and awfully fun to play with!!!!!

The monkey has the sweetest little cap on, complete with tassel trim, and the bee is wearing a beaded crown -- because she's the queen!!!

Great for your stitching bag... I have one in my kitchen drawer because it STAYS there. (I think the household perception is that it is not a 'real, serious, metal 100ft measure! But it works for me!!!)

Meet Finn the Fish, and Ash the Octopus from Freddie's Friends
Just for the seamstresses of you out there, we have a few darling patterns of stuffed fabric animals. For the little ones in your life, they are sewn of bright fabrics (your choices) and bring smiles to their hearts!

What makes them cute is the fact that the seams are NOT turned in -- they are sticking out -- so they kind of have a more 3-dimensional attitude to them. Finn is about 15 inches long, 6 inches fat and 11 inches long. Ash is at least 15 inches... and he has 8 legs. These are not Cross Stitch patterns -- they are sewing patterns -- and match the rest of our Freddie's Friends Stuffed Zoo!

*Quilting, Yarn, Needlepoint and Cross Stitch in The USA and Canada
This directory always blows me away with the sheer amount of information compiled inside. It is a full 9 x 11 in size -- an inch thick -- and it weighs 2 lbs and 4 ounces. It has 512 glossy pages of Quilt, Sewing and Stitchery Shop listings for both the US and Canada. Maps, info about retreats, shop hops, shows, quilds, special events... it is absolutely OVERWHELMING! Organized by state, there are over 200 facilities listed in here that can host your retreat - some with pictures! Also organized by state are ALL the shop listings they know about in each state -- IN ADDITION to the 1400 shops that have purchased ads!

When you receive your book, there are directions for sending in an e-mail address (if you would like) for updates for the next two years. Certainly worth every penny paid! The Silver Needle has a bitty ad in here, because even though we don't sell 'quilt' fabric, we DO sell all the yummy scissors, buttons, bags and threads that every needleworker loves!

Bandana Ranch from The Needle's Notion Bandana Ranch coming from The Needle's Notion

Just Another Button Company has the most delightful set of alphabet letters and the ampersand to spell out words and names! These are perfect to use to teach a beginning stitcher!

They are actually white 5-1/2 inch squares of 14ct perforated paper that JABCO has printed with stripes, spots or hearts of beige, pinks and greens. Each letter, also printed in black on the paper, features its own background... meaning all the M's have the pink stripes, but other letters have different colored stripes! Stitch a little or a lot -- they have charted only a small floral design for each, and provided buttons for garnish.

You supply the bits of floss from your stash. SO cute, colorful, fresh, bright, clean and cheerful... you can stitch just one initial or spell out a huge long greeting! Just depends on your budget! Frame or finish on scrapbook papers -- you decide.

You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl! This 256 x 143 stitch count sampler finishes approx 16 x 9 on 32ct... and is stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads. Tanya says this piece features several of her childhood memories of growing up in The Heartland of America. The corn, the cool barn, check out the cute chicken, too. The willow tree is neat, the house is organized and so is the garden... everything in here has it's place and purpose on the family farm.

A pretty piece, you could personalize it with the family name and a *date established* especially if it was a long time ago! Chart format -- choose virtually any fabric you want to stitch on -- just something that will allow the light 'Picket Fence' color of floss in the house an fence to show up.

Platinum Needles - click to see more Platinum Needles
John James has run out of Platinum Needles, and because costs have risen so much, will not be plating more. Yarn Tree, one of our industry distributors, purchased their back-stock that were loose -- just bulk -- and re-packaged them in their cool little screw-top clear plastic needle vials! So, now we have Platinum Tapestry Needles again!!! ('till these are gone, too!)

Some stitchers have allergies to nickel -- the normal plating on needles -- so Platinum is a more comfortable stitching option. (Do your needles get brown-ish (tarnished) and draggy??? If so, you are probably allergic to nickel!) So... for a happy time, we have Tapestry Needles available in #24 for 14/28 counts, #26 for 32-ish counts and #28 for smaller count fabrics.

Death By Cross Stitch and Life After Death from Long Dog Samplers
Here's a pair of pieces by Long Dog Samplers... we've had the 'Death By' one for a while... but 'Life After' is the new companion. Choose a single color you like -- solid or hand-dyed, cotton or silk -- the patterns give you yardage requirements to help you get enough matching thread.

Actually, the charts are quite clear and easy to read, and if you choose an over-dyed thread with a little color variation in it, these will be stunning!

Also choose any fabric YOU want to use... that will determine the finished sizes of these. Lovely motifs all over the place in these, you can go crazy just studying them!!! Huge in finished size, Life After has a stitch count of 372 x 325 -- so 21 x 18 on 36. Death By measures 363 x 447.

Not a very exciting name for this set of designs -- BUT they ARE cool! This is a set of charts that says 'I love Stitching, Crocheting, Quilting, and/or Knitting. One chart for each thing. Measuring approx 70 x 140 in size -- 4 x 9-ish on 32ct... they are coded for DMC floss. Each has the wording, a lady doing her craft, and then a window scene.

I am not sure what the window scene has to do with what you are doing (other than the fact that you are taking a break and looking out the window!) but those scenes are charming... and you can interchange them, leave them totally off, or stitch THOSE and forget the other half! Kind of odd... and a bit on the pricey side...but hey, you'll figure out something!

MTV is gifted Italian designer with neat stuff!
  • The Secret Pincushion Maria Teresa Vitali has some new designs -- we brought home three different sewing set designs -- all kitted up with her special wooden items and hand-made pins. The Secret Pincushion is especially cute, because it uses a Lone Elm Lane Shaker Pin Cushion Base that you make a cover for, and turn it into a little box! Presented as a chart WITH a handpainted majolica Italian bead sewing pin, you stitch this design on 32ct linen using only 4 colors of Weeks flosses. Mount it on a puffed board, add some rik rak... and Presto... you have a miniature covered box! A real cute idea...
  • Dancing Dragonflies Sewing Set This set makes a sewing case with interior pocket to hold scissors and a special hand-painted wooden thread board, a pin cushion biscornu, and scissor fob. Everything is stitched on Weeks 32ct Gold Linen in DMCs or silks. The main case measures about 4-1/2 x 5 when closed... cushion is smaller at 3 inches and fob at 2. Along with the chart, we included the special painted wooden thread board, the matching magnetic needle minder, the sparkling pins you see poking out from the cushion, and the little scissors! Linen and threads are available separately -- you probably have them in your stash. A little pricey -- it does come all the way from Italy.. and $88 IS cheaper than an airline ticket... so it's not really that bad! And it comes with all of those extra goodies!
  • Elegance in Bloom Sewing Box This is a 4 x 6 x 1-1/2 inch cardboard box that you cover and construct! Stitched on Weeks 32ct Linen with silks or DMC, all your tiny box pieces are included in with the chart, along with MTV's cute little hand-painted needleminder. What I LOVE is the pin roll! It consists of two decorated wooden rounds pierced with heart openings... and there is a matching threadkeep, too! They are the ends of a rolled piece of stitching. THEN, see the gorgeous porcelain pins poking from the ends? Lots of Rhodes stitches in here... you get the chart, boards, three decorated wooden pieces, the scissors and the gorgeous Capodimonte porcelain pins!!!!!

I think my eye is drawn to all the different tree branches and the fence.

Light-weight enough to travel with, this all comes in a box that is only 10 x 16 x 4, and it weighs about 8 pounds. The 8 x 10 x 2-ish rounded base is VERY stable as well. We sell a ton of Dublins... but this little guy seems to be the next generation of that light. We are very pleased with it!

The York by Craftlite -- click to see more
The York
from Craftlite
Craftlight has a new lamp that is slightly larger than their little Dorset!!!!! A new updated style, this little guy is awesome! It is a table-top lamp and weighs 6 pounds. It features a 16w fluorescent daylight-balanced light bulb surrounding a 5-inch glass, 3-diopter lens. The bulb is completely covered on the bottom side for safety.

The lamp plugs into the wall... It has a little flip-cover to protect the lens when not in use... a toggle on/off switch, and 8 x 9 base with lots of tiny storage areas for needles, scissors, pencils, just whatever. The main part of the arm is 12 inches in height, so it has a really nice table-reach. The 5-inch lens is wonderful -- so much more to see than the 3-1/2-inch of the Dorset! No assembly required... pull it out of the box and plug it in! Offered in white, this is a LOVELY lamp!!!

A trio of charming charts we stumbled across at the recent Spring Wholesale Needlework Market -- all three of these can be stitched on any fabric you like, and are coded for DMC floss. No special embellishments or threads called for -- that's YOUR challenge if you're up to it! Add some beads to borders and eyes, furry Simply Wools to the animals, maybe some bitty bells for the cat collars? Some metallic to those scissors... what about Satin Stitches on the thread spools? French Knots for the sheep and bee buttons???

Each of them is really cute, and full of fun design motifs. Cats and Dogs both measure 117 x 117 -- about 8-1/2 inches square on 14/28ct. The Scissors and Spools measures 143 x 86 -- so about 10 x 6. Cute!

Framing is an option as well... really changes their appearance!!!!!! Cindy has charted each of these 4 ways -- for the wooden pieces, pin cushions, ornaments or framing.
  • Morning Star Santa -- Very Olde Worlde, Santa in the snowy woods... you could add metallic to the stars and opalescent to the snow... and wool for the squirrel or the fur on his coat!
  • River Road Church -- Again, very traditional, this one would look really cool with silver blending filament in the shadows and opal in the snow.
  • Frosty Grants -- Quite the Kool Man... this is definitely a turn from the other designs... but so fun especially if you are stitching annual ornaments for a growing young man!

Glass Flower Counting Pins
The Glasshopper has made lovely sets of hand-made Lampwork Glass flowers and leaves -- on pins. Poke them into your favorite pin cushions, and dress up sewing cases -- these are too pretty to hide away in a drawer. Each flower or leaf is individually made of molten glass on a metal rod -- being warmed and shaped right in the flames of a blow torch!!!

Jennifer has made us several colorways to match your stitching! They DO NOT MATCH THESE DMC NUMBERS I AM REFERENCING... but are close, in my opinion. All have a tiny yellow center, except the red. We have red with a tiny black center 816, lavender-- 3041, lt yellow -- 746, blue -- 322, slightly iridescent light blue -- 3325, white, and a light pink -- 224. OK... sure, you can use these stitches to stitch something *Island-y*... but actually these titles are mis-leading. These little books are meant to suggest stitches that you couldn't be without if you were stranded on a Desert Island!!! (honest!) Needlepoint Gurus Carole Lake and Michael Boren have compiled this pair of handbooks that feature TONS of different stitch ideas and suggestions for different areas of your canvases.

Volume ONE deals with stitches that are good for filling into small spaces in your design. Volume TWO presents 'serving suggestions' for creative borders. All sorts of ideas for all sorts of projects, these two offer advice all the way through the pages along with clear diagram repeats of the stitches. Handy little references to have... even if you are NOT stuck on some Desert Island!!

The Trilogy has a new small design in their *Secret* series... it's a tiny wintery village scene with falling snow and frosted branches everywhere. All the designs in this set of 4 x 4 inch pieces feature small motifs that are rotated to fit each edge. If you turn this 90 degrees... you'll find a different part of the design is right-side up. Rotate it again... and ANOTHER part is right-side up!

Each design -- offered in chart format -- finishes about 4 x 6. They all feature 3 or 4 small 'snapshots' of things... you can see the 'little paper attachment tabs' on the corners of the 'snapshots' -- so they remind you of an old fashioned photo album page. (not that such a thing is old fashioned!!!)

Anyway, January finishes out the series -- love those red long-johns! Featured fabric is the 32ct natural/white polka dot Belfast which is offered separately.

Don't just 'collect' these... stitch them for someone you love! Heart in Hand's annual LOVE Heart design is here... we have them on her page going back to 2008 -- so there are lots more to see. Always young, contemporary and fresh, they make REALLY GOOD wedding gifts -- because they aren't out-dated. They all have the look of NOW, and match today's decor. You could stitch more than one, frame them all the same, and hang them together up a stairway... you could add personalization... just whatever.

Offered as the chart with linen and button embellishment, this year's finishes approx 2-1/2 x 4 inches. Use flosses from your stash. Note: Heart in Hand has a lot of small designs that are really nice for wedding, shower and anniversary gifts. You don't always have to do the biggest, most involved sampler to show someone you care...especially if they thank you for your *needlepoint!* I especially like the Mr & Mrs piece!

  • One Starry Christmas Eve CS 171 -- Oh THIS is COOL! It is stitched on Aztec Red Weeks Linen -- so you stitch all that black -- NOT the red! Round Tool Towers By Greg's Turn
Kind of like a Scissor Block -- only round! We have a new gadget that is designed to carefully hold your scissors, some needles, maybe a laying tool or seam ripper, and even a small ruler or chart. Wayne-The-Wood-Guy has a son, Greg. This is by *Greg's Turn.* It's Greg's turn to turn wood into cool gadgets for us like Wayne has for years!

This little guy measures approx 2-1/4 inches in diameter and stands 3-1/4 inches high. It features a felted bottom and 4 compartments, Two that are lined with felt in the bottoms that are about 2-1/4 inches deep. Store your scissors or rippers or laying tools in those holes. The bottom is soft and padded so tips are protected. The third, smaller hole has a magnet in the bottom -- that's for needles. The magnet keeps them in place in case your tower tips over. It is about 1-3/4 inches deep.

The slit is there for a small ruler or chart -- it is 3/4 of an inch deep. (I was absolutely NOT going to tell you that my mind sees a little face here! I see two eyes, a little nose and a mouth! But the little mouth is crooked because Greg has to make the slit in the direction of the wood grains so that they don't split! So I have all these little people looking at me, and they are so cute! Isn't that dumb?!) So, you have this little friend... all of them are different colors because they are made of different woods, and their little mouths are just every-which-way... and they are so FUNCTIONAL and HANDY! I wonder what they are saying....

  • Party Tarts -- A Bit of Trivia from the chart -- 'The donkey became the symbol of the Democrats back in 1828 when Andrew Jackson used it as a campaign image after being call a 'jackass.' He chose to take it as a compliment, considering the animal's strength. The elephant became the Republican image when a cartoonist named Thomas Nast illustrated a donkey in a lion's skin scaring away zoo animals; one of the animals bellowing back was an elephant, also known for its strength, and labeled "The Republican Vote," Both designs measure about 55 x 60 stitches in size and call for Gentle Art's Freedom, Mulberry and Oatmeal hand-dyed floss. Amazon sells the tart tins on line!
  • Winsome Pair -- Here's a little Scottie with his Bald Eagle buddy... a tribute to the Doggies of the White House! Silver Wire Neck Rosette and Rosette Earrings
Oh a Little Something for Our FLAX!
We have a local artist in Tulsa that makes pretty aluminum jewelry -- and we love it with our FLAX! You'll see it in a lot of our pics.

Very lightweight rosettes to fit onto a 'collar' and matching earrings... its very fun to wear and looks good with every kind of FLAX we have.

Neither the daisies or roses weigh anything, and do not tarnish. They look like sterling and do not discolor!
Silver Wire Neck Rosette and Rosette Earrings
Rosettes for your neck are larger -- 1-3/4-ish inches, earrings are 1-1/4-ish inches.
Daisies run 4-ish inches, and earrings 2-inches. That sounds big, but really not because they are so light and airy.

All offered in chart format, they measure 70 stitches high and approx 100-ish stitches wide, and are suggested on a denim blue or medium gray fabric. All three can be joined together because of that cool black, white and purple checkerboard bottom with the green grass! Just cute as can be, these are full of Brooke's charm -- and each one uses a TON of different DMC colors!
