New Glass Beaded Pin Cushions from Reflets de Soie
Oh my gosh, these are some of my very, very favorite things in the shop right now... GORGEOUS floral pin cushions (or sewing bag fronts) stitched on 35ct that are ONLY tiny glass beads and NO Cross Stitches! Everything you see are the minute French glass beads!!!! Stitched right from a regular chart, you use only a strand of white floss and stitch a half stitch over two on 35ct... putting on a bead instead of using a color of floss. Kind of like miniature oriental rugs... you are creating these beautiful patterns from a chart simply with glistening glass beads. Really 18ct in size, I suppose you could stitch these in floss... but you'd have to make your own color conversions from the beads.

Offered in chart format, the beads are pre-sorted for you. choose 35 or 36ct linen, frame them or make them into small cushions! We have stiff linens or softer ones... if you have a preference, let us know... we have shop models stitched on both and looks are not affected by fabric softness. It would only be that stiffer might be easier for you to work on.
  • Tresor d'Octavie -- 61 x 89 Stitches (approx 3 x 5), this kit comes with the blue silk ribbon for finishing!!! Roses, green and golds.
  • Vitrail -- 83 x 83 Stitches (less than 5 x 5) Stunning aquas and roses, with gold accents. There is a butterfly charm on there.. it is NOT included in the kit... just a design temptation!
  • Myosotis -- ONLY 49 x 33 -- A BEGINNER SIZE -- this finishes under 3 x 2! Gorgeous deep blues, lavenders and golds... this is just a bitty one that you can TRY THESE with!
  • Tresor d' Apolline -- 53 x 99 Stitches (approx 3 x 5) this one has a white beaded background and features a rose swirl among greenery.
  • Le bal d' Iseult -- 102 x 103 -- This is bouquet of roses! A very classic, antique design, again a creamy white background with the antique roses and leaves all beaded. Exquisite for a sewing case cover or scissor case!

  • American Homestead Sewing Set is a multi-piece design including a cushion, scissor holder and fob, a mini hornbook. It is shown tucked into a Shaker tray - brick red on the outside and black in the inside. (our shipment is on the way) The farmyard scene is the focal point on that darling cushion!
  • Samplers -- Kind of an 'advertising sign' for a stitcher! Stitched on 40ct (you can choose anything you want), this finishes approx 11 x 4. Just spot motifs and pretty colors, it'd be fun on your sewing room door!!!
We have a total of 5 designs that are new... take a peek on our Scarlett House Page!

Coffee Quaker from Heartstring Samplery - click for more Lots of new by Heartstring Samplery... everything is on our interior pages, but here is one of my favorites!

Coffee Quaker
from Heartstring Samplery
*First I drink the coffee, then I do the things...* What a fun thing to hang on your kitchen wall near the coffee pot! Grab a smattering of different hand-dyed brown flosses... this finishes approx 9-1/2 x 11 on 36ct.

Great Quaker motifs, it just speaks for itself! Presented as a chart.

Eyelash Sizzle from Lady Dot Eyelash Snow from Lady Dot Eyelash Trim from Lady Dot Creates
We have a new style of hand-dyed trim by Lady Dot Creates -- it's 100% cotton, and looks like a fern frond! It's Eyelash -- a thin strand with little 1/4 inch long 'frizzies' coming out from it.
I think because it's thin, it'll be best on smaller cushions, it'd be cute as 'grass' beneath stitched bunnies and in little flower gardens. (Imagine a sewing case... you open the inside to see a tiny stitched garden, and here is that trim -- right in the needlework!)
I think you could make darling rabbit tails -- use several strands like a tassel fringe.

Dyed to match Lady Dot's existing colors, we have six of her most popular colors so far. Algae is a soft green, Licorice - a dark gray to soft black, Sizzle - that gorgeous rich red, Snow - white. Then we have Vanilla which is a cream and finally Vintage which is ivory and taupe and simply goes with everything!!!!!!!! Packaged in 9 yard lengths.

English Village I & II from Michael Powell
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this guy's artwork! Used to be -- only kits were available -- now, we are beginning to get charts of lots of Michael's designs. Just stick me inside one of these charming Olde English Village houses... I could either be Cinderella or the Gracious Lady of the House... either way would be good!

Two parts to this charming scene, each finishes approx 8 x 12-1/2 inches in size. TONS of stitches in these, and TONS of color changes (coded for DMC, Madeira and Anchor) they call for 49 colors and then he blends 10 more together! You HAVE to LOVE backstitching to do these... there are NOT quarter stitches in them, you just backstitch hither and thither to create the charming, crooked, antiquey charm of these.

Each chart contains TWO charts -- one for the regular Cross Stitches, the second is JUST the backstitching. We have tons of other designs by Michael on his interior pages... some are cute and small, I have one started...............!

Flowers With Check Border from Michael Powell - click for more
Flowers With Check Border
from Michael Powell
Not into Olde English? What about contemporary, fresh, cheerful flowers? This 5 x 5 design is worked on any white fabric you like best, and finishes that 5 inches in size on a 14/28 ct size.

TWO charts in here... one is just the Cross Stitches, the other is the backstitch detail. Coded for DMC floss... it uses 18 colors. The charts are HUGE and clear, and have great pics of HOW to do those crooked backstitches on fabrics that are over one or two.

Swan Lake, Ivy's Sampler & Sweet Bird from Lone Elm Lane
Lone Elm Lane's newest designs -- use them atop their boxes, or on your pillows and in frames! Presented as single charts, Stephanie has new charting software, and these are beautifully printed as full color charts.
  • Swan Lake finishes approx 8 x 4 on 32ct Gunmetal Linen. LOVE the brilliant greens against the dark metal gray background. She says this pic is in the style of Rufus Porter -- a famous muralist all around the New England region between 1825 and 1845.
  • Ivy's Sampler finishes approx 5-1/2 x 7-1/2 on 32ct linen... hand-dyed flosses... I think this is a birth sampler!
  • Sweet Bird -- In reading... this is one lucky bird! *Ever green, ever clear, no sorrow and no winter!* Hand-dyed flosses, this finishes approx 7-1/2 x 6.

The Frog Motto from Annie Beez Folk Art - click to see more The Frog Motto
from Annie Beez Folk Art
*As Ye Sew, So Shall Ye Rip!*
It's just one of those things when you're a stitcher! By Annie Beez, this is a one-page chart for this silly but sobering design that measures approx 6 x 5 when stitched on 18/36ct.

Coded for DMC floss, it'd be fun to add buttons to the flowers and do Padded Satins on the spools. Hopefully, you can finish this without too much ripping!!!!

Baskets! from Rosewood Manor - click for more
from Rosewood Manor
Karen Kluba has designed a sampler featuring flower baskets.

Just about Millions of tiny flowers in here... this finishes 12 x 18-1/2 on 28ct Picture This Plus Wren Linen, and is worked with super-colorful Valdani hand-dyed flosses.

Just yummy, as all of Karen's samplers like this are!
Leaflet comes with the Valdani flosses.

Heard it Through The Grapevine, part 1 from SamSarah Design Studio

Heard it Through The Grapevine
from SamSarah Design Studio
This is a cheerful hearts and dots thing all swirled together -- stitched on 32ct Charlotte's Pink Linen by Weeks. (don't get hung up on pink... you can change that if you need to!)

Presented in only 3 parts with no embellishments, you can always add as you want to, but this is fine just the way it is. Stitch the alphabet letters or make up a message of your own to spell in here! Heard it Through The Grapevine from SamSarah Design StudioThe entire design finishes approx 18 x 7.

Be aware that each portion CAN stand alone if you aren't doing the whole alphabet... so don't feel like you have to buy all three of these to get the full charm and impact of the design! We're doing an auto-ship for charts two and three -- in case you want them all.

A Scissor Sampler by Rovaris of Italy! - click to see more

A Scissor Sampler
from Rovaris of Italy!
Rovaris of Italy has a cool piece -- it's the alphabet done in white against a natural background, then garnished with all sorts of scissors stitched in DMC 815 red.

Actually quite large, the stitch count is 130 x 430 -- finishing approx 8 X 27 on 32ct! You could change up the colors a little, stitch just your name and add the scissors you like the best to that and make a sewing room sign. Make a pin cushion with just one initial and one scissor motif.

Nobody says you have to stitch the entire thing if you don't have that much energy! It's just a pretty chart, we thought it was cool.
In The Beginning with Adam and Eve from Blackberry Lane

In The Beginning with Adam and Eve
from Blackberry Lane Designs
This was Marie Driskill's first design released in 2008! She brings the model to Market every year, and dismisses it (oh yes, that... it as an early design), but this year... she brought CHARTS!

No, the clock is not available. BUTTTTT, the design measures 130 x 320, and is worked over one thread on 32. You can go over two, and choose any count you wish, over one on 32 this finishes only 4 x 10. Only 98 different colors of DMC in here and 3 hand-dyes, it's pretty amazing.

The chart is intense -- like the Heaven and Earth patterns -- and they do take patience and concentration to work -- two attributes that others have more of than me! Just gorgeous!

Boleyn Linen from Primitive Hare - click for more Colonial Hare from Primitive Hare - click for more Colonial Hare Pins from Primitive Hare - click for more
Colonial Hare & Her Pin Set from The Primitive Hare
This is a new design that has caught the eye of many! By Primitive Hare, it is a very old-style rabbit portrait that is charted in two different colorways -- blue and brown. Blue uses DMC 646, 844, 648, 3072 413 and 415. Brown uses 840, 838 and 3371 instead of the 413, 415 and 3072. You can use any hand-dyed linen, or Primitvie Hare's special 40ct Boleyn Linen -- it is hand-dyed, but she's put words on it... semi-readable... very muted in the background... for a super-aged look. Very interesting... some really like it, some not so much.

The Primitive Hare is quite large, she measures 155 x 249 -- so finishes approx 8 x 12-1/2 on that 40ct... or 9-1/2 x 15-1/2 on 32ct. The hand-made pin set matches the Blue Hare... not featured in the main design... they're just kind of neat to poke in a pretty pin cushion nearby! Colonial Hare is a leaflet, pins and linen offered separately.

A Walk to the Sea By Madame Chantilly from Madame Chantilly A Walk in the Garden By Madame Chantilly from Madame Chantilly
Presenting Little Miss Strawberry and Watermelon Butts
from Madame Chantilly
Oh my gosh, these are DARLING! Madame Chantilly has two new designs -- A Walk in the Garden, and A Walk to the Sea. Just simple, seasonal pieces, each measures about 7 x 8 on 32ct... so if you want them smaller, leave off the border.

We think they are charming, and have re-named them BECAUSE of their little rumps! 'Garden' is a spring strawberry, and 'Sea' is a summer watermelon! Presented as charts.

Crabtree Remembered & Nora's Garden from The Purple Thread
The Purple Thread has two new small designs that I thought were cute as can be! Nora's Garden by The Purple Thread - click to see more Crabtree Remembered by The Purple Thread - click to see more
  • Crabtree Remembered is a *mattress-shaped* pin cushion -- 3 x 3 x 1-ish in size. Stitched with purple, green, cream and black, she has this backed with black felt. It's very striking! • Nora's Garden is super charming! It is a hinged book to hold needles inside. The front design follows a garden theme -- complete with that miniature stitch seed packet on there, and the tiny metal shovel charm. There are micro buttons and lace trims on there too. Inside the case is lined with the MOST BEAUTIFUL rose and cream silk gingham and a soft solid green. The complete kit contains the finishing boards, flosses and silks, buttons, shovel, ribbons, 30ct Weeks Hand-dyed linen, that gorgeous silk lining fabric and even some wool batting to make the front a little soft and puffy.

Kitty Doodles by Amy Lee Weeks for Mill Hill
What a delightful collection of simple black-line doodles from Amy Lee Weeks! The people at Mill Hill have converted them to Cross Stitch on 18ct white Aida, and embellished with a few glass beads here and there. Design sizes finishing approx 5 x 7, each is stitched with 99% DMC black floss and accented with simple striking colors in the design borders.

SO DARN CUTE... they are presented as complete kits of the chart, fabric, beads and flosses. Frames are offered separately. These ARE done on aida -- don't get hung up on that -- if you have a swatch of something else white in your stash, use it. The designs are darling, and will WAY overshadow the fabric you stitch them on! I LOVE the one that says *Don't stress me out!*

Mini Bee Needle Minder from Kelmscott Beeskep Vintage Postcard Threadkeep from Kelmscott Mermaid Tail Threadkeep from Kelmscott
New Treats from Kelmscott Designs
A lovely collection of needlework trinkets and gadgets, these all make nice stitcher gifts, they are fun to use, and look wonderful tucked into cases, keeps and shadow box frames.
  • Mini Bee Needle Minder -- Isn't this a pretty thing? Kelmscott's black resin sets off her pretty bumblebee... the whole thing measures just 1-1/4 inches from side to side. Needle Minders aren't just for needles either -- they are pretty magnets for your filing cabinet or even the good old-fashioned refrigerator door!
  • Beeskep Vintage Postcard Threadkeep -- A charming sepia-tone, old fashioned picture on this little board that measures a bit over 2 x 3-1/2, it features 6 holes to attach your working threads.
  • Mermaid Tail Threadkeep -- This is SO CUTE! Another thread keep, just over 4 inches, -- same kind of thing as the vintage beeskep. This one would be incredible stored inside of a nautical sewing case, or cool perched beside a seaside pin cushion!!! The design is not painted or enameled on the wood... I think it's probably a laminated paper image, but like the rest of these, it is absolutely and perfectly transferred onto the wood -- and the colors in this charming tail are gorgeous!

Charcoal Mittens from Rachels of Greenfield - click to see more Charcoal Mittens from Rachel's of Greenfield

VERY cute, this new set features a charcoal gray background on mittens with red cuffs. They join *Warm Hands* (more mittens), *Warm Feet* -- which are mini-stockings, *Snow Folks* --which are snowmen (even a snow kitty and a snow puppy!) and the set of gift bag ornaments!

Several Luscious Scissor Arrivals by WASA of Solingen, Germany
Several Luscious Scissor Arrivals by WASA of Solingen, Germany What an exquisite treat we have in the shop!!! From the Solingen Valley of Germany, WASA is world-famous top-quality cutlery manufacturer -- a compliment to and competitor of DOVO! We have some new styles that we used to carry (but haven't been able to get for almost 10 years!) and some pretty new offerings!

Stainless steel, hand-forged, gold plating decoration, razor-sharp blades and tips, smooth and 'buttery' cutting action... just like our DOVO embroidery scissors... WASA delivers the excellence of German artistry you will LOVE! Each has the WASA name and Solingen embossed into the blades. Choose our Regular-sized leather sheaths for these -- not the Preemie/small size... the double-sized are OK... but a little large.
  • SN53 Cross -- 3-1/2 Inches in length, these are from an antique mold. The handles come together to make a little cross shaped opening between them... and the little beading around the scissor edges make them even prettier. Light Gold plating on the handles, they don't appear to be as 'gold' in color as some of the rest. Perfect, precise, sharp little 1-1/8 inch blades.
  • SN52 Serpentine -- 3-1/2 Inches in length, another classic museum design, these are lovely, filigreed, delicate to hold and use -- just a treat! Stainless, with gold plating on the handles, they feel a little lighter in weight than the Cross Scissors -- blades are the same size though.
  • SN50 Victorian Heart -- 3-3/4 Inch in overall length -- you'll recognize this style. Gingher used to have these in their 18th Century Line -- it is a classic embroidery scissor style that is a perennial favorite. (Probably the most recognized after Stork Scissors.) Beautiful gold on the curved handles... always a good choice.
  • SN51 Flattened Victorian Heart -- Another 3-3/4 Inch style -- I think these look like the Victorian pair, just a little flattened! The finger holes turn out to be JUST A TEENY bit larger than the Victorian, so they turn out to be a little more than 1/4 an inch wider, and they feel *really good!* The same pretty gold plating on the graceful handles.
Large Buckingham Large Buckingham
Wow... we have NEVER had this style -- our favorite Buckingham in this 5-5/8 inch style!!!! What a gorgeous pair of scissors!!!!!! The same pretty swirls --gold plated -- in the handles, the blades are razor-sharp and measure approx 2-1/4 inches long.

Very heavy and substantial feeling, they would be spectacular in a special sewing case. WASA and Solingen is embossed into the blades. Choose our Double Leather Sheath to protect this size.

Lighted Needle Threader - click for more
Lighted Needle Threader
Well, if this isn't the coolest little thing! It is a wire needle threader -- with a protective snap-off cover over the wire -- that is attached to an LED light. Remove the plastic protective cover, turn on the switch for the light (it stays lit and you don't have to keep holding it at a strange angle to keep the little light on) The light IS AIMED at the wire threader -- so the eye of your needle is illuminated! You actually have a chance to SEE the hole in the needle to thread it!!!!!

We laughed when we saw this at Market, but I tried it right there in the aisle -- I had my needles and scissors with me... so this was tested before purchasing! It is just about 1-1/2 inches in total lenght, and has a hole so you can attach it to a cord or key ring. We think this is the ultimate baby-sized gadget!!!! What a fun thing to get all your friends -- and it's affordable, too!

Stitched on Weeks Dye Works 32ct Confederate Gray Linen with Weeks and Gentle Art hand-dyed cottons, it finishes approx 4-1/2 x 6-3/4. Eight little squares -- they'd make cute scissor fobs and name tags if you did them separately -- do whatever you want! You'll need one Schnigglet cut of Weeks Wool for your backing -- you can see Chestnut in the model pic, but we have pumpkins, grays, golds and charcoal blacks as other color options -- and you can use any of the 4 finishes -- herringbone, houndstooth, solid or glen plaid! If you decide to make a set of pin cushions... get a couple of different wool cuts so your backs coordinate!
  • Keep Home in Your Heart -- Oh this is so sweet!!! Worked on 32ct, it finishes approx 4 x 6, and is stitched with Weeks of Aztec Red, Baked Apple, Bullfrog, Flatfish, Grasshopper, Onyx, Pink Sand, and Schneckley. HUGE on Chessie charm!!!

The tray is the same one Linda featured in her Friendship Garden pattern from this past Spring. Not a tray-person? Weeks flosses of Cadet, Grasshopper, Hazelnut, Oscar, Schneckley, Sea Foam and Swamp Water -- it has restful, 'Northwoodsy' kind of colors! Julia's Stitching Frame Julia's Stitching Frame Julia's Stitching Frame from Big Island Woods
This is a wonderful new stitching frame hand-made by one of our customers, Julia, along with her brother! It is so simple, so uncluttered, and SO EASY to assemble and use! You get two side bars -- approx 3/4 x 2 x 14 in size. See the three holes? See the screws on them -- and the four little scalloped black finger knobs? You get 2 roller bars.

Don't panic to learn that you use that blue painter's tape (it's low adhesive... and a sample piece is included with the frame) to attach the edge of your fabric to the bars. The bars fit into the holes of the side bars, you use the super-easy-to-grab scalloped knobs to tighten those bars around the rods... roll the bars to tighten... and you are ready to stitch!

You can adjust your stitching area because of the holes on the sides, and you can even bring in your sides a little if you want. Actually very lightweight, the whole things weighs less than 1-1/2 pounds and it breaks down to the four sticks and knobs to fit into a cotton drawstring pouch (made by Julia's Mom!) Nice and smooth, NOT a messy contraption to use... easy to carry, I think you'll be very pleased with this!

Miniature Sampler Scissor Fobs from Kim's Needle Needfuls - click for more Miniature Sampler Scissor Fobs
Kim's Needle Needfuls has beautiful new miniature sampler scissor fobs! She has taken images of antique samplers, shrunk them down into bitty 1-inch miniatures, and mounted them into lovely antiqued brass findings (they are even pretty on the back). Then she's chosen glass, shell and brass beads, and strung them together to complement the tiny featured sampler! Each Sampler Scissor Fob is unique... every one is different... but we chose ALL vintage colors to complement the brass and the sampler.

Each fob from clam-shell end to sampler finial bead measures about 5 inches. These are LOVELY! Very nicely done, classy, and I'm having a really hard time choosing my favorite!!! Some are deep blue, soft green, antiqued reads and roses... golds... if you have a color preference, just ask. If you order an assortment -- we'll mix the colors and samplers for you.

Oh my gosh, this is the CUTEST thing for your hacienda! We don't have those awesome mountains in Oklahoma, and not too many cactus, but we have the hats and the boots, the windmills and prairie dogs, and those paisley bandannas!

This chart features the main piece (5 x 8-ish on 32ct Lambswool) -- add your ranch's name or family name on there -- along with the boy and girl individual 3 x 4 stand-up designs. Charted for DMC and Sampler Threads, add beads if and where you want. We don't get many cute designs with this theme... so don't pass this by -- it is really cute!

Alphabet Art from Just Another Button Company - click to see more Alphabet Art from Just Another Button Company
Just Another Button Company has the most delightful set of alphabet letters and the ampersand to spell out words and names! These are perfect to use to teach a beginning stitcher!

They are actually white 5-1/2 inch squares of 14ct perforated paper that JABCO has printed with stripes, spots or hearts of beige, pinks and greens. Each letter, also printed in black on the paper, features its own background... meaning all the M's have the pink stripes, but other letters have different colored stripes! Stitch a little or a lot -- they have charted only a small floral design for each, and provided buttons for garnish.

You supply the bits of floss from your stash. SO cute, colorful, fresh, bright, clean and cheerful... you can stitch just one initial or spell out a huge long greeting! Just depends on your budget! Frame or finish on scrapbook papers -- you decide.

Well, these completely top every decorated pin we have... they are hand-made one-of-a-kind porcelain-topped pins from Italy.

Packaged in a gift box, the tiny brochure is translated to read: *This certificate with the signature of the craftsman on each piece (I can't see that small!) ensures that every item is produced in the laboratory of Porcellane Carusio and is entirely made and hand painted by master craftsmen using traditional processing of Capodimonte porcelain and provisions of the Law 188/90 (C.A.T. -- Ceramics Artistic and Traditional) with colors called "third fire" that by cooking to 780 Celsius ensures lasting stability.* Capodimonte Porcelain Pins - click for more
We don't have many sets, and each is some matching shade of pale pink or lavender. Mmmm!

Heartland Sampler from Scarlett House - click for more Heartland Sampler from The Scarlett House
You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl! This 256 x 143 stitch count sampler finishes approx 16 x 9 on 32ct... and is stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads. Tanya says this piece features several of her childhood memories of growing up in The Heartland of America. The corn, the cool barn, check out the cute chicken, too. The willow tree is neat, the house is organized and so is the garden... everything in here has it's place and purpose on the family farm.

A pretty piece, you could personalize it with the family name and a *date established* especially if it was a long time ago! Chart format -- choose virtually any fabric you want to stitch on -- just something that will allow the light 'Picket Fence' color of floss in the house an fence to show up.

Platinum Needles - click to see more Platinum Needles
John James has run out of Platinum Needles, and because costs have risen so much, will not be plating more. Yarn Tree, one of our industry distributors, purchased their back-stock that were loose -- just bulk -- and re-packaged them in their cool little screw-top clear plastic needle vials! So, now we have Platinum Tapestry Needles again!!! ('till these are gone, too!)

Some stitchers have allergies to nickel -- the normal plating on needles -- so Platinum is a more comfortable stitching option. (Do your needles get brown-ish (tarnished) and draggy??? If so, you are probably allergic to nickel!) So... for a happy time, we have Tapestry Needles available in #24 for 14/28 counts, #26 for 32-ish counts and #28 for smaller count fabrics.
