|Victoria Sampler has beautiful, delicate, and sometimes very intricate designs. She blends colors beautifully, and challenges you with a wonderful variety of hardanger, pulled thread embroidery, and lots of cut and drawn work, too. Always a touch of silk ribbon, always special silks and threads, her instructions and leaflets are beautifully done. Thea offers classes on-line for her designs... a great help if you're not sure you're on the right track with something! The details for "Cyber-classes" are right on the leaflets!|
Poinsettia Place Sampler
The Victoria Sampler has a new piece that celebrates Poinsettia plants we love during the holidays. The quiet cottage scene at the bottom is charming by itself... and actually, so are the top bands of flowers -- you could split this into two pieces! Worked on Smokey Pearl 28ct, it finishes approx 5 x 7 -- just a BITTY thing!
Some of the flowers are stitched with silk ribbon -- not threads, and tiny glass beads are featured in the centers of all of them. Lots of special stitches in this, and those pretty Lazy Daisies with the silk ribbon.
Christmas Day Sampler
One of Thea's long skinny band samplers, this one celebrates the Christmas Daytime schedule! It begins with Santa's sleigh ride visit... then the living room in the morning, when you get to open your stocking. Church is next, and a quiet walk afterwards... then dinner! Between all the scenes are borders of special stitches, and as always the included instructions and pictures are huge and easy to follow.
The entire sampler finishes just 3 x 17 stitched on 28ct Natural linen. If you do the little scenes by themselves -- they will make WONDERFUL 2 x 3 inch ORNAMENTS!!!!! (Don't get stuck in a rut that something like this HAS to be stitched into a long piece -- change it up a little!)
Victoria Sampler's 3rd seasonal beach house has arrived... I don't think of Halloween at the beach, but I guess it DOES happen! A petite purple house with that witchy-green front door and charming pumpkin garden... I'd like to live there! Finishing 6 x 6-ish on 28ct, there are only a few special stitches in here, but lots of colorful silks and a trip of pumpkin buttons for the border.
Presented as the leaflet with silk and button pack, this whole set of cottages has been so well received. Some are stitching them all on one piece of fabric, some are not and skipping the borders as well.
Hydrangea House Sampler
This is a 5 x 7 sampler -- Thea says it is a beginner or teaching piece that is not too large and overwhelming. You get to work with pretty silks, try your hand at a bit of Cut and Drawn Thread work, and do a few special stitches.
She says this is the first of a new set of small samplers centering around flowers and cottages. The colors are pretty, the whole chart fits on one page in the booklet -- and it really does look like it would be fun to stitch!
Victoria Sampler is on design #2 of her 4-Seasons of charming cottages by the water -- Winter Cottage joins Beach Cottage released last year. Stitched on 28ct Smokey Pearl Cashel linen -- a light neutral gray -- the silks are all the more colorful against that wintery-sky-background. Gloriana, Dinky Dyes and Needlepoint Inc silks -- some hand-dyed -- the thread packet also includes 4 snowflake buttons for garnish.
The delightful cottage finishes approx 6 x 6 and features a few special stitches like Lazy Daisy and Plaited (looks like woven pie crust topping - you can see it in the window woodwork.) Stitch it with or without the verse border, you can see that on Beach Cottage as well. So cheerful, this is offered as the leaflet with silks and flakes separately.
Needlework... where your treasure is there will your heart be also.
This is a pretty piece -- 6 x 10 on 28ct Clay Cashel Linen -- that DEFINITELY showcases your stitching talents! Loaded with luscious teals, turquoise, cobalt blues, aquas, mossy greens, golds and cream silks and metallics, I think the only Cross Stitches are in the girl. Hemstitching and Hardanger -- yes, there is cutting in the middle of the piece, Thea's peacock tail feathers are over-one explosions of color. Neat Flower Eyelets in here... it just looks incredibly wonderful to stitch!!!
The pattern also provides detailed finishing instructions to make your sampler into a fabric needlework tote bag -- showcasing the sampler on the front. The leaflet and threads (beads and charm are included in threads packet) are offered separately, as well as linen and that possible tote bag material.
Gingerbread Quilt Shop
Part eight of Victoria Sampler's charming stitched Gingerbread Village is here! Joining the church, tree, cottages, bakery (and even a haunted house which kind of snuck in here!), is a new Quilt Shop. Truthfully, we aren't enamored with the shape of this shop, but it might make a nice 'transition piece' in your village arrangement. TONS of stitching and design detail in here, you'll notice that the front door is actually a separate little sticky-out area, and there are the quilters in the window above!!!
Worked on 28ct Gingerbread Linen, there are wonderful finishing instructions included in the leaflet -- 18 pics -- and great stitch diagrams. The thread/accessory packet includes all the silks, metallics, beads, gingerbread men buttons, micro buttons -- and even the little shop dog!!!! With every side stitched differently, you get pretty quilts no matter which side you see! Offered as the leaflet with Accs pack separately. You will need a piece of linen at least 14-ish x 33... we like 1/2 yard cuts better!
Victorian Band Sampler -- You can stitch JUST Elememts of this!!!
A study in pinks and greens, this band sampler is STUFFED with special stitches. I think the only Crosses in here are the letters. You might want to look at the smaller elements vs the larger sampler. The Bargello heart at the top is really cool.
There is a tiny band sampler -- cute all by itself! -- to the left of the pastoral scene -- and that little scene is SO PRETTY! The flowers surrounding the verse are done in silk ribbon... then you get down to another bitty cottage with sheep in the yard... more ribbon flowers... and finally that dramatic bottom border of Bargello.
So... if the skinny band sampler isn't your thing... consider all the smaller elements in here that you could stitch separately. The accessory packet has TONS (8 types) of different silks in it, beads, the ribbons... very pretty.
Here's a colorful Autumnal Sampler that features little witches all stitching!!! Worked on 28ct Summer Khaki Cashel Linen with loads of oranges, greens, purples and black silk threads, it finishes approx 5 x 18. (You'll need a ball of #12 black perle for all the lace.)
Each scene it cute just by itself in this -- the stitcher at the top working her quilt -- the middle panel features a crow trying to steal her silk -- and the bottom scene might just be stitch group with someone working on the snack!!!
Pretty textured specialty stitches throughout, everything is charted very clearly and LARGE -- especially on the lace borders -- so you can see where your needle goes next. Offered as the leaflet with accs thread and button pack separately.
We LOVE this little piece!!!!! What a tiny little sunny-yellow cottage nestled on the seashore... can you see the family all sitting outside, and the little kitty by the front door??
This finishes a mere 6 x 6-ish on a pretty light blue linen, and it really doesn't have much in the way of specialty stitching. There are Lazy Daisy floral vines, but that is about it. The colors are deliciously aqua, pink and that gorgeous yellow... and the accessory thread pack is FULL of hand-dyed silks and even has a pair of starfish charms. Just so charming, this is offered as the leaflet with accs pack separately.
A Stitcher's Heart - The Beautiful Finishing Series
The Victoria Sampler has released a stitched needlework case that can be displayed fully opened -- as on the leaflet cover -- or folded in half like a book. A Stitcher's Heart features matching patterns for a scissor pouch, a tiny fob, a sampler which is made into a thread pocket in this model, and a folded pin and needle case.
Stitched on 28ct Clay Linen with blues, tans and golds, Thea's thread pack contains Pearl Cottons, three different brands of silks, thin metallic braids, little pearls and silver beads. Opened, like in the pic, it will finish approx 10 x 14 -- there is a wooden tray display option to hold the opened piece -- if you like that.
Tray measures 10 x 14 inside... straight sides.
To give you size ideas, the main sampler on the right measures about 3-1/2 x 6-1/2. The scissor sheath measures about 2-1/2 x 4-1/4. Everything is beautifully stitched with lots of fun stitches and some Hardanger. You can follow the 4 pages of step-by-step finishing instructions (with 29 photos) to make them all individually, or finish them onto the fabric board. Very different as far as finishing, you could even stitch measurement graduations on that signature band in the center! Offered as the leaflet with threads separately, this is another of Victoria Sampler's Beautiful Finishing Projects.
Easter Egg Hunt Sampler
Here is another of Thea's cute skinny band samplers for the Holidays. She begins with the sleepy town at the top, the Spring gardens of flowers -- I think the Easter Bunny is making an appearance in the center row, and finally the children hunting for their precious eggs!
Stitched on 28ct Ice Blue Cashel Linen, with tons of colorful silks and a few petite seed beads, this finishes approx 3 x 17.
A companion to The Trick or Treat and Happy New Year Samplers, you get lots of specialty stitches in here -- all in that 3-inches!!! Offered as the leaflet with thread pack separately.
Talk about something sweet to stitch for Valentine's Day... The Victoria Sampler has re-created their famous Gingerbread Cupcakes into chocolate and vanilla for your Valentine Favorites!!!!!! *BAKE* these little sweets on 28ct Milk Chocolate or White Cashel Linen... and *FROST* them with Satin Stitches of #8 and #12 Pearl Cotton. They LOOK LIKE Hardanger Embroidery -- but are only JUST regular Satin Stitches! Then, decorate each one with the charming buttons offered in the accessory pack of the Pearls AND the red silicone baking cups.
One cupcake has white chocolate dipped strawberries, the other, chocolate, while the third features tiny 1-inch cupids. These are so unusual, so charming, they are enchanting!!!!! Offered as a leaflet, the accessory pack of pearls, buttons and actual-sized baking cups is separate. Everyone will love these... especially if you display then right in the middle of a plate of real Valentine cupcakes!!!!
Mothers and Daughters
Definitely a special tribute to a unique bond between two women, this multi-stitch sampler measures approx 5 x 20 on 28ct Natural Linen.
Pages and pages of stitch diagrams, the verse which is stitched over one reads:
'A special bond that spans the years, through laughter, worry, smiles and tears, a sense of trust that can't be broken, a depth of love at times unspoken. A lifelong friendship built on sharing, hugs, kisses, warmth and caring...'
The accessory pack is full of bead and pearl embellishments along with silks and a bit of metallic.
Gingerbread Needlework Shop
Thea has designed house #7 in her Gingerbread Village Series (We thought the Haunted House was #7... but I guess it's not technically Christmas... so it doesn't count!??) What a charming little stitched BOX! Stitched on the new 28ct Picture This Plus Gingerbread Cashel (28ct) Linen with a wonderful assortment of silks and colorful beads and buttons, this little shop finishes approx 6 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches deep and 4 inches high. Its lift-off roof add another inch to the building height. Through the 'windows' you can see the classroom activity... every side of the shop is stitched with a different scene!!! It is the CUTEST THING!!!
Offered as the leaflet with super-detailed assembly instructions -- VS always prints DOZENS of actual photos in these publications so you have lots of guidance. The accessory pack -- offered separately -- has all the silks, buttons and beads. Fabric is another expense -- I am sorry to say -- so you know, this little village doesn't turn out to be the cheapest real estate in town!!! BUT... it has great curb appeal!!!!!!! We suggest a 1/2 yard piece... it'll do the upcoming Scissor Tree Ornament, as well as the Cupcakes from your extra pieces!
Gingerbread Scissor Keep
WOW... this is a DARLING 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch ORNAMENT that hides a pair of your stitching scissors!!!! Shaped like a Christmas Tree... your scissors are tucked inside... and you can even hang them on the tree! All of you that have ONLY hand-stitched ornaments on your Christmas Trees... you NEED this ornament... and actually the entire stitched Gingerbread Village to display around the bottom of your tree! (and... you need to stitch the cupcakes to leave out for Santa with a glass of milk!)
The Scissor Keep is offered in its own leaflet... stitched on a bitty 6 x 7 piece of the 28ct gingerbread Linen. The accessory pack of silks, beads and buttons is offered separately. VERY, very cute.
Gingerbread Haunted House
Victoria Sampler has released Part 6 of her Gingerbread Village Series. Technically, that is a Christmas Village, and this is Halloween... so don't get hung up on the 'part 6' thing! If you like it STITCH IT! If you don't want a Haunted House with your Christmas Things... that's OK too! Stitched on the NEW hand-dyed Gingerbread fabric by Picture This Plus, we are so excited to FINALLY get another option for pretty fabric for this set of designs besides the discontinued and elusive Antique Almond!
The house features a purple roof... not tons of stitching... but LOTS (I counted 53!!!) of whimsical plastic button embellishments. I THINK in reading though the cool charts and the beautifully presented assembly pictures and steps that this uses 18 different little pieces of fabric. You'll need a fat quarter of both the Gingerbread and the Lilac in 28ct.. (Because there are so many little pieces... I think its easiest to cut them out of paper first and they lay them out on the main piece of fabric BEFORE cutting everything out!)
But back to business -- the silks are gorgeous bright oranges, yellows, and deep purples. The buttons -- especially the little Trick-or-Treaters and the Skeletons are over-the-top! I THINK this must finish about 6 x 8. It'll definitely be a stitched labor-of-love for all the Halloween-lovers in the household!! Offered as the book with button and silk pack offered separately.
NOTE: The 28ct Gingerbread Linen has been commissioned by VS... Picture This Plus has done a WONDERFUL job re-creating the awesome color Thea uses in all her Gingerbread House buildings! So.. if your stash has been waiting for 'just the right fabric' for those houses... here it is!!!
Gingerbread Mini Stockings
Here's a trio of 2-1/2 x 3 inch stocking ornaments to garnish your tree. Stitched on the new 28ct Gingerbread Linen, I think the puppy is waiting for dinner... but she's just told him 'just one more row!'
Regular Cross Stitch with a few Satins tossed into the top treatment, these are quick to stitch. Might be kind of fun to make them for everyone in the Stitch Group! Offered as the leaflet with accessory pack of the silks and buttons offered separately.
Look for *Just One More Stitch* -- the companion ornanent design in the 2014 Just Cross Stitch Annual Ornament Issue!
Down Jinglepot Road #1 Cramberry & Gumdrop
Some fun things Cathy Jean passes by when she drives on her local JinglePot Road, these are charming little designs stitched on 28ct linen, and then blanket-stitched onto bits of wool. Her accessory pack includes the Weeks and Gentle Art over-dyed flosses to stitch them as well as the puppy button, beads, hanger twine and red and green jingle bells hanging from the ornament bottoms!
Each bit if stitching measures approx 2-1/2 x 3. You'll need a Schnigglet cut of wool to finish each -- it should do both the front and back!
Look for the first design in this series -- it's the little red truck driving through the snow -- a featured ornament in the 2014 Just Cross Stitch Annual Ornament Issue.
Beautiful Finishing 17 - Gingerbread Cupcakes
These are the CUTEST ornaments we have seen in so long... you are going to be enchanted by them! Last year's Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue Magazine featured the Gingerbread Man Cupcake included in VS's newest leaflet of THREE stitched cupcakes! Gingerbread Cupcakes features charts for the tops of three cakes, Snowmen, Gingerbread Men and Holly Leaves, along with finishing instructions to assemble them into colorful silicone baking cups.
You'll probably want the corresponding Accessory pack of all the threads, metallics, cute buttons, all the 'candy beads' and those bright red baking cups... everything you'll need except the topping fabric is in the accs pack. If you order fabric, we'll be sending you 28ct Gingerbread by Picture This Plus that is close to the 28ct Antique Almond called for (AA hasn't been available for almost a year!)... so you stitch a trio of cupcakes for your Christmas Tree -- we think these are so creative, cute, colorful, charming, unique and too pretty to eat!
Mystic Christmas Sampler
This is beautiful! It is a nautical-flavored Christmas sampler based on the carol 'I Saw Three Ships.' Worked on 28ct Misty blue linen with loads of silks and Pearl cottons, Thea always stuffs lots of specialty stitches and tiny details in her band samplers, and this one is no different.
The tall ships have billowing sails, the rolling waves are worked with Bargello stitches, there are tiny bead touches here and there, bits of small scenes are worked over one thread, and little snowflakes dot the sky everywhere. Finishing approx 4-1/2 x 14, Thea describes this as a 'Historic Seaport Sampler.' Offered as the leaflet with separate accessory pack.
Button Up for Christmas #4
Cathy Jean has another pair of cozy Christmas Critters to stitch -- a sheep with earmuffs and hand-knitted striped scarf, and his snowman buddy has a matching hat!
Sweet ornaments for the tree, the accessory pack includes the Sampler Threads and wools, the black wire for the hangers, cardinal button and the cute wooden 'stick' buttons. Offered as a leaflet with separate accs pack.
Old McDonalds Farm
Thea Dueck has designed a seventh sampler in her Farm Series of pieces -- this one honors a simple family farm. Farmer McDonald and his family are feeding all the animals who are just happy with an ordinary day! Joining Pumpkin Patch, Babe's Honey Farm, Ravenhill, Oldfield Orchard, Strawberry Fields and Jingle Bells Christmas Tree Farm, this is another 5 x 12-ish band sampler full of small design details and lots of special stitches.
Worked on 28ct Ice Blue, the optional accessory pack contains all the necessary silks and bits of beads to work with. This is not coded for DMC, but if you are resourceful... you could probably choose good colors from your stash. Offered as a leaflet.
Laughing in Flowers
*The Earth laughs in flowers* Such a pretty flower garden to enhance that verse! Stitched on 28ct Linen with a mixture of hand-dyed cottons and silks, several of the flowers feature a tiny button embellishment center. Actually, this finishes smallish -- just 4 x 8-1/2!
Offered as a leaflet with that thread pack as an option -- this is not coded for DMC. Just a lovely little piece!
Lady Mary's Pincushion
This is a simple embroidery design that doesn't feature much Cross Stitch at all! The main oval pin cushion piece measures just 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches in size, and offers a 2 x 4 oval top for needlework. Your stitching is done on 28ct Natural linen with #12 Pearl Cotton, a few hand-dyed silks and some silk ribbon.
Not much work at all in the trio of pieces -- the leaflet includes 4 pages of finishing instructions with 22 pictures for mounting the cushion, and constructing the scissor case and fob. The colors are crisp and opalescent whites and a most gorgeous periwinkle medium blue in the silks and ribbon. You can't see it from the pic, but that wooden cushion has 1/2 inch high legs!!!
Farmyard Chicks -- Tartlets #5
Cathy Jean has a freshly hatched set of chicks for Spring! The 5th in her series of Tartlet Designs... the other 4 leaflets are pictured on this back cover, so you can see if you've missed any that you want for your set. This time... we have a mother hen, but her babies fit into SMALLER tins! Easy stitching on 14/28ct with Gentle Art Sampler Threads, each is garnished with micro buttons.
The set originally began as Christmas ornaments, so Cathy Jean continues to chart these with the two different color options -- some red buttons for Christmas greenery or buttons that coordinate with each little animal. The threads and buttons come in an accessory pack, while the tart tins come in another pack. Cute as can be!
Farmyard Babies -- Tartlets #4
The Victoria Sampler's Cathy Jean has a new set of 'babies' that are framed in her miniature tart tin frames. Joining Tartlets #1 -- Woodland Babies, Tartlets #2 -- Woodland Babies #2, Tartlets #3 Woodland Birdies, and now #4 Farmyard Babies (I was getting confused between the babies and the birdies!!!!!!!) this is a precious set of designs!!! (All four leaflets are pictured on the back of this one, so THAT's what kept me straight!)
A lamb, piglet and goat, each is stitched on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen in Gentle Art Sampler Threads. She has garnished them with micro buttons in pink and lavender... but since the first three accessory packs included red micro buttons -- for a Christmas ornament flavor -- she has also included the red buttons in #4's accs pack -- just in case you want to continue that theme. The metal tins measure approx 3 inches at the widest part of the flutes. What a cute way to finish your 2-1/2 inch circles of stitching. Offered as the leaflet with thread and button accessory pack offered separately, and the tartlet tins separate as well.
Happy New Year
Here's something to stitch and display AFTER Christmas! Victoria Sampler's New Year's Sampler follows a theme we never see in needlework!
You get fireworks at the top... the baby new year chasing the old Father Time out of the picture! Party-goers, and the festive downtown cityscape... lots of tiny details in this 3 x 16 inch band sampler.
Worked on 28ct Misty Blue Linen with an array of silks and metallics, there are also Magnifica beads to embellish. Lots of special stitches, lots of over-one detail, and EXCELLENT pictures of the bit of Hardanger worked at the bottom. Offered as the leaflet with accs pack separately.
Beautiful Finishing #15 - I Love You Sampler
Stitch this 5 x 10 band sampler in the array of peachy-pink and green silks, embellish with a bit of hand-dyed silk ribbon embroidery, and then follow the instructions for the quilted wall hainging... and you will be an expert at it all! A little Hemstitching, and some Cut & Drawn Threadwork with beads tossed in, this is a very pretty piece -- without much Cross Stitch in it at all.
Part of Victoria Sampler's ongoing series to help you learn different finishing techniques... this is book #15! I LOVE the fact that the other 14 in the series are pictured on the back cover of this leaflet, as well. It helps SO much in the collection process! Enjoy this as the leaflet, with accessory pack offered separately.
We are up to building #5 in this charming stitched Gingerbread Village! The Victoria Sampler has somehow designed the cutest miniature houses and even a tree, all garnished with 'drips' of white royal Icing, and lots of 'beaded cookies and candies!'
Joining their Church, Gingerbread Stitching House, Candy Cane Cottage and Tree Etui, you stitch each wall of this... even the roof, and construct the building. (The tiny gingerbread cookies on the roof are miniature buttons!) None of these are very large... our Stitching House model is something like 4 inches square and 3 inches high. Everything is offered in leaflet format, with fabric and the accessory packs of threads and embellishments offered separately.
Anyway, Gingerbread Bakery is charming, and comes in a leaflet FULL of detailed instructions and great finishing photos!
Well, this is a cool chart... what a fun stitching project to complete, even if you aren't doing any of the matching village. Each cookie is stitched on 28ct Antique Almond Cashel Linen in reds, whites and an icy blue. The accessory pack contains all the silks and wools, beads, pearls and tiny 'candy' button embellishments.
As you can see, there really isn't much stitching on these AT ALL... so maybe after you've made your first set, you can get creative with the basic cookie shapes and add decorations from your stash to make more! Each ornament finishes approx 2-1/2 x 4 in size. Offered as the leaflet with accs pack separately.
Woodland Birdies Christmas Tartlets #3
A precious trio of forest birds, Cathy Jean delivers a very detailed set of Quail, Owl and Woodpecker mini-tins this year -- her third annual set. Stitched on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen (14ct khaki Aida will work, too) with Gentle Art and Weeks overdyeds, the accs pack contains that thread as well as the 21 red micro-buttons adorning each.
The little tartlet tins are offered separately -- they measure 3 inches in diameter at the front of the fluted edges, and an inch deep. Not a lot of stitching, but HUGE on visual impact as far as ornaments go, these are a DEFINITE! These join the baby fox, bear and squirrel from year one, and the raccoon, chipmunk and bunny from last year!
Gingerbread Tree Etui
WOW... this is a 4-sided fabric box... measuring approx 4-1/4 x 9 inches when finished. When opened, it reveals a biscornu-shaped pin cushion, but when closed... shows off four different snowy scenes on each of its sides! My gosh, just the most captivating thing... your leaflet begins with charts for each of the four tree sides. Next, the pincushion. Then, all the stitch diagrams... and finally 37 actual photos of all the assembly processes for it all!
A companion to Thea's other Gingerbread pieces... the silk thread pack actually WEIGHS something, because there are so many threads and 'candy' beads and 'cookie' buttons in the pack! Enchanting!
Button Up Your Heart #1 -- Cherish and Love
What an enchanting little pair of Button-Up Birdie Ornaments!!! Two small designs of Mom and baby birds... each is only 30 x 30 stitches! Worked on 28ct Dirty Linen with hand-dyed flosses and a few bead and Wisper Thread embellishments, finish these into the homespun heart pillows shown, or smaller ornaments.
Offered in leaflet format, Cathy Jean has the accessory packs available that include the threads, beads, her hand-sliced real wooden branch buttons and the cuts of red gingham homespun fabric to construct the heart pillows on the leaflet cover. These are SWEET little birds -- GET THIS LEAFLET!
Trick or Treat
What a fun 3 x 17 inch band sampler full of teeny details! Stitched on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen in a spectacular array of oranges, greys, black, greens and bits of yellow -- all the threads are either silks or perle cottons -- all stuffed into this tiny collage of Halloween motifs and mini-scenes.
All the little Trick-Or-Treaters are less than 10 stitches high, and that haunted mansion at the top is worked over one thread.
VERY nice instructions included about the Cut and Drawn Threadwork at the bottom, this is fun piece! Offered as the leaflet, with accs pack offered separately.
Beautiful Finishing 14... The Autumn Box|
The Autumn Box... this is the 4th seasonal needlework box to stitch and finish. A Pumpkin patch surrounded by bands of falling leaves... the cross stitches and silk ribbon embroidery blend so well... even if you don't make this into a box top -- your needlework will still be the star attraction. The lid top are sides are fully embroidered as are the inset pin cushion tray and fob.
Lovely colors of hand-dyed silks, metallics and silk ribbons, the beads are beautiful, the stitches are awesome... and the design is really pretty! The leaflet focuses on box assembly... just a minor 53 actual photos of the processes! VERY pretty... the accessory pack contains everything necessary to stitch the box pieces.
Button Up Birdies #9
By Cathy Jean... here are birds #17 and 18, the Summer Tanager and Wood Thrush, in this neat set of backyard birds. All finishing approx 3 x 4 on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen, each bird's pillow can be fabric or wool, backed in colors to match the birds. Check out the cute *sliced wooden stick buttons!* used in the finishing, as well.
The leaflet's back cover shows the entire collection up to this point... so if you've missed any you really like -- they are still available. Those darling buttons are included in the thread/accessory pack which is loaded with overdyed flosses, a bit of metallic, and even the wire to make the curly-Q hanger!
Beautiful Finishing #12
Victoria Sampler continues her series of designs that highlights finishing techniques as much as stitching. Bringing you ornaments, boxes, cushions and fobs of all sorts of different sizes and shapes, Book #12 shows you how to construct a folding three-panel heart etui, as well as a classic biscornu shape that has been covered with a separate piece of needlework. The first half of the book presents the needlework -- great pictures, diagrams and charts for the Hardanger work.
The second half of the book offers 36 photographs of all the assembly processes you need to know to create all the different shapes and pieces. The Heart Etui projects are worked on 28ct White Cashel linen with the DMC colors of 500's and 223's -- only all the threads are silks and hand-dyeds (no DMC). The silk ribbon is included along with the glass beads. Pretty little pieces, the main heart measures approx 5 x 5, the biscornu approx 4-1/2 inches square, while the fob has a silk ribbon embroidery area of only 12 stitches!! Now... if you're not into finishing... just stitch everything and leave them as flat pieces or frame 'em! Offered as the leaflet with separate accessory pack.
Summer Welcome Sampler
Here's a Welcome piece to stitch -- making it as intricate or simple as you wish. The simple work Welcome is stitched with regular crosses and measures only 22 x 160-ish stitches. It is surrounded by a small border of flowers -- the vine is Lazy Daisy -- but the flowers are all specialty stitches of Bullions, Spider Webs, Queens, and Diamond Eyelets. It provides most of the color in the piece. Finally, all is surrounded by Drawn Thread Work -- threads are removed and then the remaining are garnished with Hemstitching and Honeycomb Filling Stitch.
The entire piece is only 5 x 14-1/2 on 28ct Natural Linen... not too big at all. Try not to concentrate too much on all the fabric surrounding the stitching in the pic... it's kind of 'pink and green'... picture instead a subdued mat, maybe a distressed whitewashed frame... Offered as the leaflet with thread pack separate.
Button Up Birdies from Cathy Jean's Designs
Cathy Jean's Designs is beginning a set of 12 birds... 2 releasing each time in a set of 6 leaflets... they are JUST PRECIOUS! Stitched with overdyed flosses and bits of Wisper thread -- for the furry snow. They'd make a pretty quilt, charming ornaments for next year's Christmas Tree, and each would be pretty framed and hanging in a hallway, all lined up! Be creative!
Anyway, first is the Chickadee, who is unraveling the mittens hanging on the line to dry! December's Christmas Cardinal features bright red winter color. January's Tree Sparrow is full of more bright color, while February's Whiskey Jack is bringing a tiny red heart flower to his mate. Choose a pretty coordinating Weeks Dye Works Wool to back each bird -- using buttonhole or primitive stitching -- just like the pics on the leaflet covers! We're going to help you collect all 6 of these with an auto-ship... they are too cute to miss!
We are now carrying the VS Accessory Packs for each of the Birdie Books as they are released. Along with the necessary Gentle Art and Weeks flosses, they include beads, the wire to curl and use for hanger, and those cute little wooden stick buttons! They are offered separately from the books, and we CAN add them to your monthly-auto, if you'd like.
Homespun Towels 2: Yellow Warbler and House Sparrow
Our first set of Homespun towels was blue... this set features green fabric to highlight your precious backyard birds! Green, yellow and browns... the birds are detailed and realistic. Their verses read: *No act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted* and *Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.*
Verses are stitched over one thread. Next, each is attached with primitive stitching to those pretty pieces of homespun fabric, and NOW you have a pair of towels that is simply too pretty to use, and LOVELY to enjoy!
Pomander Roses Pincushion
This is an interesting piece -- it should really appeal to anyone who loves to assemble and collect unique shapes of finished cushions, cases and what-nots! Very simple silk-ribbon embroidery garnishes all the various sides, each is stitched with hand-dyed silks -- so every single flower will look totally unique.
There are 4 pages of great assembly instructions included in the leaflet -- I count 34 color pictures of all the processes!!! Stitched on 28ct Carnation or Baby Pink linen... the actual colors in the thread pack are much more 'gentle' pink and green colors than the cover pics. Offered as the leaflet with thread pack separate.
Homespun Towels #1
Victoria Sampler's Cathy Jean is beginning some new bird designs that feature small verses. *Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.* *With every rising of the sun think of your day as just begun.* Stitched on 28ct linen with Sampler Threads, DMC and Kreinik metallics, each design is garnished with a few micro-buttons -- this time around they are the blossoms on the flowers. The borders are Chain Stitched, the verses are worked over one thread, and then each design is primitive-stitched (little straight tack stitches) onto charming homespun fabrics to make kitchen towels! (the kind you don't let anybody EVER wipe their hands on!!!)
Offered as the leaflet with the pair of charts, we have the threads, buttons, metallics and pair of 18 x 22 plaid homespun fabric cuts offered separately. A DARLING set of designs... the vintage flavored blue, beige and brown homespun fringes easily and makes a colorful and coordinating finish for the cute little birds.
Beautiful Finishing #11 Victorian Purse
Wow... here's an unusual piece of needlework to showcase your stitching and finishing talents!!! Stitch the front, back and sides of the 6 x 8 reticule... when you assemble it, you'll be making the cord and tassels you see on the cover pic. There is a lovely alphabet included to personalize the backside. Next... the scissor fob -- complete with a bit of silk ribbon floral embroidery on it. The Pipkin (I love that name!) is the tri-sided 'pod' that I imagine would hold a thimble? Finally the folded needlebook with coordinating smaller design to the reticule.
Offered as the booklet FULL of excellent stitch diagrams, since this is another in VS's Beautiful Finishing series, you get 8 more pages of DETAILED finishing procedures along with 55 MORE actual pics of the processes! The threads in the substantial accessory pack are dreamy pinks, burgundys and greens. #12 Perle Cottons, #4 Braids, Trebizond, (whole spools of each of those) Gloriana and Waterlilies hand-dyed silks, lots of solid silks, Treenway and Dinky Dyes silk ribbons, and a smattering of beads and mini pearls that embellish -- flowers and such. Tons of detail and information in here... it's quite amazing, actually!!!
Thoughts of You
A pretty set of Sampler, Needleroll, Chatelaine and Scissor Case... everything features Cut and Drawn Thread Work, Silk Ribbon Embroidery as well as Hardanger Embroidery. Tons of fun stitches in the main piece -- it isn't real big -- it's actually the same chart you use for the needleroll, and is just 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 on 32ct White Belfast. The silk ribbon florals are worked with gorgeous rosey pinks, soft greens and honey-butter ribbons -- some has gold metallic edging so it draws your eye, and glistens with the tiny gold bee charms scattered here and there. The Chatelaine features shortened rows of matching stitching and an area for personalization. Matter of fact... if you don't want *thinking of you* on your sampler -- change that to your name, or a whole new little verse!
Offered as the leaflet with all the various charts and diagrams, the separate accessory pack contains lots of tiny pearl and golden bee embellishments along with all the silk and organdy ribbons, gold metallic, and overdyed Waterlilies silk. Very traditional in a Cut and Drawn Thread Sampler style... quite a fun little set to work, because nothing is too large and daunting!
This is a set of six small herbal cameos... tiny nosegays of rosemary, oregano and parsley. They are shown here finished as small fabric sachets -- but can be stitched and finished in so many other ways, as well! Each design is really a mini-band sampler measuring approx 3 x 4 on 28ct linen. Each herb is featured in a 2 x 2-ish oval (pretty scissor fobs or ornaments by themselves) and then garnished with several small rows of specialty stitches and a meaning to the particular herb. The accessory pack contains all the silks, metallics, flosses, ribbons, beads and tiny gold bumblebee charms to make all 6 desigbns.
I don't think I'd do sachets to hide in a drawer, I rather like the fob idea, or small pin cushions that you could arrange together in a springtime basket. These would also be pretty stitched on linen and folded into tea towels -- just like Cathy Jean's new homespun towel idea. Offered as the leaflet with accs pack separate.
Candy Cane Cottage
The Victoria Sampler has several new releases -- Candy Cane Cottage is just one -- and I think it is charming! Part 4 of her stitched village, this coordinates with Gingerbread Stitching House and the Church. (The tree was published in a magazine years ago and is due to be re-released for circulation next year.) Looking MUCH harder to execute than it really is... your little house is simply stitched as 5 separate pieces, and then joined together with whipped hand-stitching. (If you've ever done one of our Mona's finishing kits, this uses the same technique.)
Anyway, fun specialty stitches and beads in the designs, the entire house finishes approx 3 x 4 x 5. It is worked on 28ct Antique Almond Linen using the delicious silk and bead pack offered for this book. (Get it, because it includes quite a set of little gingerbread buttons, stars, beads, and what-nots that will be impossible to find out there on your own!) Good colors, fun stitches for texture, very unique Holiday decoration -- your family is going to notice it! Offered as the leaflet with thread pack and fabrics separate.
Sturbridge Box -- Beautiful Finishing #10
Hey, this is cool! It's a stunning box -- the top features a TON of specialty stitches -- and that top lifts off to reveal fabric covered sides that float down to open and reveal a lined box that stores stitching tools, or whatever you want! Stitched with lots of silks, you stitch that colonial-flavored top scene, and all the sides on the top... and do all the Whitework embellishment.
8 Pages of chart and stitch diagrams. Then, since this is one of VS's Beautiful Finishing Series books... you get another 6 pages of finishing instructions with (I am not kidding) 47 more actual pics of the finishing in process!!! So... either make friends with a really good finisher... or get this book!!! So well done... it's a pleasure to page through, and dream about tackling! Accs pack contains all the silks, metallics and perles you'll need!
Woodland Babies #2
Oh... more little forest animals that fit into 3-inch fluted tartlet tins! We had set #1 last year... here are 3 more ... a fox, bear and squirrel! Precious babies stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads and garnished with red micro-tiny buttons, you can finish these any way you wish... but we have these little metal tins that set them off, and are just the cutest! Stitching is basic and fast.
Offered in leaflet format. We have accessory packs available with the threads and buttons, and the set of 3 tins is offered separately -- so decide which pieces and parts you need! This year's tins also fit last year's animals -- a rabbit, racoon and chipmunk! And... that 4th tart tin in your pack is used in Cathy Jean's ornament in this year's Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue! (last year, too!)
Holy Cow... these are stitched on one piece on 28ct linen, and look so involved... but aren't that bad!!!! A little Cross Stitch, lots of beads and super easy Smyrna and Algerian Eye stitches! Each gift measures approx 2 x 2... find some pretty ribbon for finishing and hope nobody wants to open them up!!!!
Silks, metallics and beads -- get this accessory pack which will stitch all three ornaments, you'll have to add that lavish ribbon. Actual finishing photos are included in here... they just looked so intricate to me before I studied the instructions a bit. Cute little ornaments that make quite a statement!!!
Halloween Boo Buttons
Cathy Jean begins a new set of 6 leaflets -- just like Button Up Birdies -- only this set features 12 kitties all dressed up for Trick or Treat! By the time you've collected all 6 leaflets, you'll have 12 little ornaments ready for a spooky Halloween Tree!
#1 Includes a Pirate of the Cattibean and Cattarina Kitty -- a ballerina complete with beaded tiara and gown! The pirate is too cute -- he has a beaded dreadlock -- and looks very Johnny D!!!
Stitched on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen -- 1/2 yard will do all 12 -- each finishes approx 2-1/2 x 3, and can be finished almost any way you want. There are accessory/thread packs available that include the hand-dyed cottons, silks, wire for hangers and black trimming buttons, and we have those separate from the leaflets. We're have an auto-ship on this set to make life easier, because it is so darn CUTE!
By Linda Rosser for Victoria Sampler, this is a pattern for a stitching journal cover. It uses lots of specialty stitches to make the little skeins of flosses and spools of thread featured in the design. Lots of micro-sized button embellishments decorate as well. Muted silks in shades of mauve, teal, dusty lavender, a bit of pink and black... the colors are a surprise... but they blend together really well.
Stitched area on the front of the book is a whopping 7 x 10-1/2. Purchase your binder or notebook first to make sure fabric count fits the front! Offered as the leaflet with accessory pack separately, don't miss the matching scissor fob and case patterns included!
Summer Box - Beautiful Finishing #9
Whew... this is a beautiful set of Stitcher's Box, Measuring Tape Cover, Scissor Case and matching fob. Presented on 16 pages of FULL COLOR with 60 actual color photographs and 7 pages of stitching instructions and charts this is not meant to overwhelm... but I have been! I am not a sewer or a finisher... so I look through this book and am amazed at the details in here!!! (And I'm really happy that YOU are going to finish these pieces... and I am not!)
The stitched projects are lovely... and the book is a treat to page through. If you never thread a needle to work any of these projects - just the Finishing Instructions themselves are worth the leaflet... (which IS the point of this Beautiful Finishing Series after all!)
Oldfield Orchard Farm from The Victoria Sampler
Victoria Sampler has a new farm scene sampler -- her sixth -- to companion Pumpkin Patch, Babe's Honey, Ravenhill, Strawberry Fields, and Jingle Bell Tree Farm. All the same 5 x 12 on 28ct size and basic design layout, just like the rest, this is full of its seasonal flavor. Oldfield Farm is an orchard complete with the roadside fruit stand at the bottom.
Multiple special stitches and really neat miniature design details, you'll be really good at Lazy Daisy stitches by the time you finish this piece! Coded for all sorts of silks, the accessory thread and bead pack is quite plump -- just like all the fruit trees and berry bushes at Oldfield Orchard Farm!
Love is Patient
You might not have enough patience to stitch this entire sampler... but then again... you might!!! Absolutely lovely, this entire piece measures approx 4-1/2 x 20-1/2 inches on 28ct Natural Cashel Linen.
It is FULL of specialty stitches worked in silks and perle cottons... and features so many different 'areas'... that you could stitch just parts and sections, or the entire piece. Stitched in lots of white, with taupe accents and bits of rose hand-dyed, the embellishments include white and silver beads, some tear-drop and tiny round pearls, along with a silver metallic cord.
Make it as involved or simple as you want... every part of this is pretty! Make a Ring-Bearer pillow out of the initial block in the center... make a photo album cover out of the verse area... lots of possibilities. Offered as the leaflet with accs pack separate.
Winter Holiday Sampler
Oh, The Victoria Sampler has a new Wintery/Christmas Sampler releasing this week that is just charming! Remember Jingle Bell Tree Farm, Santa's Village, Carol Singers, Heirloom Nativity and Christmas Village???? They all match, and any two or three of them would be really happy hanging together on your wall! Thea's Smokey Pearl 28ct fabric choice is a perfect backdrop for all the white lace snowflake bands dividing this medley of winter scenes.
Stitch those in your choice of the white silks offered in a separate accs pack -- or use DMC white perle cotton. Offered as a leaflet with separate accessory/silk pack, stitch just a part of this if you haven't got the time to do it all... some pillows would be fun! There are 28 special stitches in here, bead and metallic touches, lots of tiny design details, and LOADS of stitch texture (perle gives you more relief, silk is softer and lays flatter) and interest.
Finishing approx 4-1/2 x 21, this whole series of 'Winter-y Samplers' has always been customer favorites!
Valentine Pin Cushion
This is the beginning of a promised set of shaped pin cushions! Stitch and construct a heart-shaped mattress approx 5 x 5 x 1/2 in size! Bullion Knot roses, gold paillettes and beads, the main piece is worked on 28ct Summer Khaki Cashel linen, and uses 6 different stitches, while the sides feature another pink linen!
Coordinating scissor keep and fob are included in the design set -- really very pretty. Instructions will be wonderful and easy to follow -- the accessory/thread packs for this is a must!
Beautiful Finishing #8
Needlerolls and Christmas Crackers! The Victoria Sampler has a new title in her Finishing Series that includes cute projects, and concentrates most of the publication on the assembly and finishing of the pieces. Joining her darling little houses and biscornus, we have Christmas Crackers. The stitching is done on various colors of 28ct linen -- the accessory pack is loaded with pretty silks and lots of petite beads.
There are 4 projects to make -- a Santa, Angel, Gingerbread Man and Snowman. Even though these are shown as stuffed ornaments -- you CAN frame them -- as they are simply small 4 x 5ish band samplers! All of Thea's Beautiful Finishing leaflets are wonderful... just great pics -- TONS of them -- to guide you through each of the featured techniques.
Cathy Jean's Woodland Babies
Oh how cute! You'll have one of this set tucked inside your 2011 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Issue... and here are three more to make a charming quad! A baby bunny, chipmunk and raccoon (the squirrel is on the magazine) are all worked on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen in Sampler Threads and garnished with tiny red buttons and grey beads. They are mounted into miniature metal tart tins -- you might remember those from Artist's Collection a million years ago! The cutest things!
Anyway, Cathy Jean's Woodland Babies all finish a mere 2-1/2 x 2-1/2. These three are in the leaflet -- see your copy of the Ornament Issue for the 4th. Just Precious, we purchased a few accessory packs in case you needed the red buttons and such.
A charming companion to VS's Gingerbread House... you can begin a stitched village of miniature fabric buildings! Joining our Gingerbread Stitching House comes the cathedral decked in white perle cottons against the Antique Almond 28ct Cashel Linen. The roof can be stitched on black or the almond... notice the color for the main piece is really only in the tiny stained glass windows.
Looking MUCH harder than it actually is to assemble... you CAN do this! I think the whole thing finishes approx 10 inches high by 9 inches long... I am adding up the piece dimensions in my head. A delightful addition to the House, the accessory pack includes all the silks, metallics, flosses, pearls, gold cross charm, and snowflake buttons. Charming!
Well... here's a new word! Ornaments made into a biscornu shape! Victoria Sampler delivers a set of 5 miniature stuffed ornaments -- each measuring only 2 x 2! Stitched on 28ct Platinum Cashel Linen in lots of hand-dyed silks, flosses, and metallic braids, each features either ribbon embroidery, pearl or bead embellishments, all in it's 29 x 29 stitch count area!
Easy special stitches are used, and there is a lesson included for making twisted cord and tassels. These can be framed, or finished flat -- lots of teeny options for these!
Pumpkin Patch Farm
Here's a charming seasonal scene -- Thea's companion to Babe's Honey, Strawberry Fields, Ravenhill and Jingle Bells Farms!!! All seasonal farm samplers... Pumpkin Patch is jammed full of tiny design details (there are chickens in here that are only 4 stitches tall!), and awesome specialty stitches.
Stitched on 28ct Clay Cashel Linen in mouthwatering Autumn shades of Gloriana, Dinky Dyes, Mori and Needlepoint Inc silks, each of the four panels can be stitched by itself, or combined into the colorful 5 x 12-1/2 sampler. All of the coordinating Farm Scenes feature *busyness!* Small pics of the gardens and greenery, the gatherings and pic-nics, the special stitches are scattered everywhere to add texture and design interest.
A very fun seasonal decoration... that you just might leave out all year long! Offered as the leaflet with thread accessory pack separately.
Geometric patterns grace the front of this stocking, rather than Santa flying through the sky! Quite a different design subject, this reminds me of the old Cross Stitch and Country Crafts *wallpaper* stockings, and Just Nan's vertical band sampler stockings. Offered as a leaflet, Mistletoe Stocking features bands of mistletoe, separated from the bands of Hardanger Embroidery by lots of specialty stitches. LOTS of texture and design interest... putting a dark lining behind your Hardanger really showcases your stitching talents!
Worked on 28ct Taupe Cashel Linen in STUNNING threads of #4 Vatican Gold Braid, Bordeaux Gloriana Silk, Moss Waterlilies, 4mm burgundy silk ribbon, white pearls, and cranberry, cream and gold beads, this is an elegant stocking presentation that finishes into a generous 10-1/2 x 16-2/3 inch piece. Perfect for Santa's treats! Offered as the leaflet, with linen and accs pack separately, use white perle cottons #8 and 12 from your stash, or add those packs!
Oh... the verse on this is so charming! It is a story of a little blue flower that has come timely... but he has forgotten his name. When his little face reaches up to God for help remembering... God reminds him that his name is *Forget Me Not!* By Linda Rosser, this is a pretty band sampler full of special stitches and soft, dusty Springtime colors of silks and metallics.
Stitched on 28ct Light Mocha Linen, it finishes approx 5-1/2 x 15-1/2, and is filled with delicate little flowers, butterflies, rows of Bargellos, Scotches, Herringbones... all sorts of fun stitches, and of course little blue Forget-Me-Not flowers! The Accessory Pack features silk thread and ribbon, and gold/silver metallic braid and petite glass seed beads. Very pretty, the chart is huge, and so are the diagrams -- so easy to deal with!
What a pretty stitched set -- the reticule is a vase-shaped bag decorated with a garden scene on the front, and Hardanger Embroidery on the back, while the biscornu is decorated with design element take-outs from the bag. IT is my favorite! Look at the four flower buds -- they are silk ribbon flowers, which all garnish the reticule!
Stitched on 28ct Cream Cashel Linen, the bag finishes approx 5-1/2 x 9-1/2, the fob -- a little under an inch in size, and the Biscornu is 3 x 3. The Accessory Pack of threads includes all the silks, floses, silk ribbons, silk twist cord, and seed beads, all in a medley of soft garden-y greens and soft pinky-peaches. Offered as the leaflet with accs pack separate.
Quilting Bee Sampler
Victoria Sampler has a new piece - a tribute to Quilters and Quilting Bees. The charming scene at the top -- the gathering of friends of work on their quilt -- and then the quilt in the center, what a pretty piece! Each square of that quilt (which *COULD* be stitched just by itself, you know!) features loads of specialty stitches and quite a collection of Whitework Embroidery.
Stitched on 28ct Natural Linen in 8 different brands and labels of silks, cottons and wools, this 7 x 16 piece uses 28 other stitches besides Cross! If you aren't going to finish the entire sampler, think about little ornaments and fobs from those tiny quilt squares! Pretty colors, lovely charts and diagrams... offered as the leaflet with silk/thread/bead accessory packs separate.
This is a lovely intermediate-level needlework piece that doesn't involve much Cross Stitch at all! Stitched on 28ct Platinum Linen, this intricate vine finishes approx 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 in size, and showcases any verse or personalization of your choice. Ring Bearer Pillow, Photo Album Cover, Jewelry Box Top, perfect for so many occasions... the stitching consists of Bullion, French and Colonial Knots, along with lots of Silk Ribbon Embroidery, some Rhodes Hearts and Satin Stitches.
Unbelievably pretty, so much texture and stitch interest, this is enchanting! Offered as the leaflet with excellent stitch diagrams and tips, the accessory pack is separate.... but you'll really need it because of all the silk ribbons. (too hard to find elsewhere) Very elegant, very different, truly lovely embroidery!
Santa's Village Sampler
It's a busy Christmas Eve Evening... Santa and The Mrs are checking their lists and the elves are getting reindeer ready for the upcoming flight, snow is falling, it promises to be a Big Night! Victoria Sampler has a new Christmas sampler that companions her Ravenhill Herb Farm, Jingle Bells Christmas Tree Farm, and Strawberry Fields Farm pieces -- this is Santa's Farm!! Offered in leaflet form with silk packs separately, the verse on this reads: 'It's Christmas Eve, such a magical night as Santa and reindeer prepare for their flight... His sleigh and huge sack filled with more than just toys... they hold love, peace, contentment and true Christmas joys.'
Stitched on 28ct Misty Blue Cashel Linen in lots of pretty silks and perle cottons, you'll see two lacy borders that each feature tiny red jade heart embellishments!!! Accessory Pack contains the colored silks and embellishments... there is a separate silk pack of JUST white silk for the snow... optional as you *might* have another white you can use... and chart does require 1 ball each of #8 and #12 white Perle for those lacy bands. As always, VS has stuffed this with cute, tiny detail, and LOTS of specialty stitches. Tons of texture, lots of charm! Finishes approx 7 x 15-1/2 inches.
Sweetheart Roses -- 3 Biscornu Set
#4 In The Beautiful Finishing Series by Victoria Sampler, this leaflet offers patterns in two different colorways for the three different sizes of Biscornu cushions, and excellent assembly instructions for each! The smallest is a fob -- 2 sided. Next, is 6 sides (it looks like it has 4 panels on the top -- but that is all one stitched piece!) It features Hardanger on its 4 other sides. Finally, is the grandest -- the 15-sided piece! 5 on top, 5 around the sides (again, these feature Hardanger Embroidery) and 5 on the bottom.
Absolutely intriguing... their assembly is really very easy, when you have a minute to study the pictures and instructions. Stitch your Sweetheart Roses in perle cottons and silks of fresh lime greens and rich lavenders or pink and ecru. The Violet thread pack features a gorgeous, deep purple silk ribbon for the spider web roses, the Pink pack uses peach silk ribbon. Each cushion is embellished with bits of beads, and a pretty central button. The leaflet features 38 ADDITIONAL actual photographs (besides all the regular charts and stitch diagrams!) of the Hardanger steps, and the assembly process for each of the three cushion sizes. Unbelieveably clear, you can really tell what's going on here!!!! An *excellent* reference tool for future Biscornu finishing!!!
Count Your Blessings
'Count your life by smiles not tears, Count your age by friends not years.' This is a charming needlework case with matching 'smalls' to stitch and use, or tuck into your curio cabinet of neat, finished needlework projects!!! Stitched as one long piece, this is actually folded -- kind of pleated -- to create two pockets inside, to hold the pin keep and scissor sheath, or just anything. When opened, this measures approx 5 x 19. It is stitched on 28ct Platinum Linen in lots of varied silks and metallics, and garnished with lots of petite seed beads, tiny gold balls and stars, and a gold filagree heart charm.
Loaded with 29 special stitches -- notice the outlining vine -- NO Cross Stitches in it anywhere! Every leaf is a Lazy Daisy, every flower is a different stitch! The 18-page leaflet is jammed with charts, full instructions for everything... tons of photographs of the assembly process, just amazing to page through! There is even a Hardanger Heart for the case front that is optional! Quite a lovely etui! Offered as the leaflet, with thread accessory pack and DVD separately.
Cathy Jean Honeysuckle Hill Sampler
Cathy Jean presents house #2 in her 4-seasons of houses on the hill with their lavish gardens!!! Honeysuckle Hill is the summer version which is stitched in pretty hand dyed silks.
There are two teeny Mill Hill glass butterfly treasures in the accessory pack, as well. Almost 4 x 9, there is a smattering of special stitches that garnishes the band sampler in the hill.
Babe's Honey Farm Sampler
Victoria Sampler has a new farm scene that is companion tp Ravenhill Herb, Jingle Bells Christmas Tree Farm, Strawberry Fields. This delightfully busy garden of beeskeps complete with the roadside stand is as charming as needs to be, to keep all those bees buzzing! As always, cute motifs and pretty little scenes are scattered everywhere, and lots of specialty stitches give everything texture and interest.
The thread pack is stuffed full of a multitude of specialty threads -- silks, cottons, silk ribbons and tiny brass bee charms -- the pages and pages of diagrams and instructions tell you what to do with all of it! Thea lives near lots of neat farms... this whole series has been inspired by her neighboring farms, all through the seasons of the year! Stitched on 28ct Light Sand Cashel Linen it finishes approx 5 x 13. Offered as the leaflet with thread pack separately.
Mermaid's Song Stitcher's Pocket Set
Victoria Sampler has released an awesome set of stitching cases and a matching fob... all with a mermaid and ocean theme! Absolutely charming... the main Stitcher's Pocket measures approx 7 x 8, and is stitched on both sides. You'll notice the Hardanger flap on the front, and the tiny coastal village on the back. Bargello decorates the bottom, just like a scallop, and check out all the silk ribbon *kelp!* Garnished with lots of tiny shell charms, it's simply a stunning piece.
Next... there is a miniature needle *shell.* It's actually a scalloped square that folds open and closed... and features that same commanding Bargello stitch. Third, is the mermaid scissor case... she's on there, with more of that kelp! (at first I thought that was a eel!!!) Finally, the tiny lighthouse fob... just the cutest... it comes from that seaside village on the main bag.
Pages and pages of charts, stitch diagrams, *wonderful* instructions as always, are included for ALL the assembly, as well. In fact, there are 3 solid pages of finishing steps that include 25 MORE photographs! I just love paging through the book!
Next, is the exquisite package of threads and embellishments, offered separately. Petite seeds beads in white and aqua, at least 5 or 6 charms in here (clam shell, mussel, sand dollar, star fish) metallics and silk perle, there is Gloriana hand-dyed silk ribbon for the kelp, and a TON of hand-dyed cottons, silks, perles -- I counted 25 different threads in here! Enough is included to stitch all the pieces. All is stitched on 28ct Amsterdam Blue Cashel Linen... you'll need an 11 x 38 Cut, and need to purchase that all at once, so everything matches. Just a lovely set of needlework pieces... what an heirloom! I envy everyone who lives near the water...hmmm.......!
Hands To Work Sampler
A pretty kitchen garden... just like one Thea found in Olde Sturbridge Village, MA... stroll through the garden beginning at the bottom with the beds of carrots, radishes and cabbages. (there was a little frog in the radishes!) Next... the onions, squash, potatoes, strawberry patch, ... cauliflower, peas, parsnips, and lettuces are in there -- all between rows of specialty stitches. Orchard trees in the backyard, charming farm houses... there is so much color and detail in here, it is so much fun to look at!
Stitched on 28ct Confederate Gray Cashel Linen, the accessory pack, once again, is full of all sorts of hand-dyed silks and cottons! Measuring *a petite 4 x 7& (how charming is that!?) I love the fabric strips and wall hanging finishing idea for this! Simply a lovely piece -- for anyone who has a kitchen!!! Offered as the leaflet, with separate accs pack.
Window of my Heart
All the Windows of my heart I open to the day!
Cathy Jean has such a colorful and uplifting design that just bursts from the cover of her new leaflet! Stitched on 28ct Antique Almond Cashel Linen... a lovely hand-dyed gingerbread-y color... the threads used are a mixture of hand-dyed cottons and silks, and are just bold and lovely! Most of the center heart is regular Cross Stitch. Notice the vines all over the heart? They are a Double Running, decorated with Lazy Daisy leaves. Next, the red border is Blanket Stitched... then comes the rest of the Lazy Daisy leaves. Finishes a mere 6-1/2 inches square, this is offered as the leaflet with hand-dyed thread packet.
The Alphabet Sampler Series |
The 24th and final sampler in the set of alphabet letters by The Victoria Sampler has arrived! Quite an imaginative set of designs... each celebrates a letter of the alphabet with stitches and motifs of that letter. Actually, quite a comprehensive 'dictionary' of small designs, borders, fonts, and specialty stitches... you could take favorites from a few and create your own tiny band samplers, sewing cases, or anything!
Absolutely charming... each is offered as a leaflet with accessory pack which includes multiple brands and colors of silks (Silk 'n Colors, Waterlilies, Gloriana, Needlepoint Inc, Soie Perle, Au ver a Soie, Silk Mori, #4 metallic braid, beads and #12 perle.) Stitched on 28ct Platinum Linen, each sampler will finish approx 3 x 13.
