Our Fabulous Fabric Wall
We carry a wonderful selection of cross stitch fabrics. Shelves and shelves of Linen, Aida, Heatherfield, Lugana, Klostern, Tula, Banding, Afghans -- I could go on and on...!
And now, we've add the wonderful Hand-dyed fabrics from Weeks Dye Works! Write them in below, or order them by the fat quarter on our Weeks page.
We sell everything 2 different ways. We can custom cut any size you need... we'll figure that out if you'd like us to... and price the piece by the square inch. We have no additional cutting fees for individual pieces! Or, you may purchase any of the fabrics in larger pieces by the yard. A favorite is a "Fat Quarter" size. It's 18" wide, up to the fold on the bolt -- usually 18X27 -- and is one fourth the yard price. You may also have one-half yard pieces -- usually 18X54 -- or entire yards, if you're a busy stitcher!
Whatever you need, we probably have it... or something equally as wonderful. Sometimes a fabric called for is not as easy to work with as another for you, so we can help with substitutions, too! Just a couple of pics to show you the "Great Wall of Fabric!"
Use the fill-in box below to tell us just what you'd like!

Dames of the Needle has been busy dying wonderful, rich and soft cotton velveteen for you to use on the backs of your pin cushions! Use this where you would use any finishing fabric -- sewing cases, small pillows, it is *just the right weight* to make everything feel substantial. Presented in 14 x 17-ish cuts. We have 11 colors. I have given *SORT OF MATCHES* to thread colors for you. THESE ARE NOT EXACT MATCHES... but I wanted to give you some idea of the shades each has

Wow... I bet Lady Dot's Lois is in BIG trouble with her mom -- this gorgeous new chenille probably came from the family heirloom bedspread!!! It is a new line of plump, fuzzy, super-soft hand-dyed cotton chenille -- the kind you find on the charming antique bedspreads.

OK, all you color-loving people! Feast your eyes and fingers on this scrumptious collection of hand-dyed wool fabrics! 40 different colors, offered in solid, herringbone or houndstooth patterns... we have 120 different choices to tempt you! Weeks has dyed these wools specifically to match their overdyeds... so if you're doing a special project... you can match threads to the wool and know it'll look great! DMC... what does one say about this 200+ Year Old Company??? We love their threads!
We offer DMC in 6-strand cotton, #3, #5, #8 and #12 Perle Cottons, their fun new wired Memory Thread, shown below.
A great product -- I bet you've found old DMC threads in your Grandmother's Sewing Basket!
Color Infusions Memory Thread from DMC
*I am IN LOVE with this thread!!!* DMC has finally started shipping their new line of Memory Thread... so we have *some* of the colors, and are waiting for the rest to arrive. Basically, Color Infusions isn't a *thread* at all... it is a very soft copper wire that has been covered by cotton and rayon thread!
You can't *stitch* with it... but you can tack it down -- known as 'Couching.' AB Designs has used it in a few of her new releases... so you can see various applications for it. Curl it around a pencil to get a fun coil, play with that a little, and tack it down to get swirls all over something! Use it as an outline somewhere!
DO NOT use your good Dovo or Gingher scissors to cut this -- as it has wire inside! (Use our little colored titanium ones for that!) Anyway, designed to appeal to the scrapbook industry... we stitchers like this thread too! GET CREATIVE, this is cool stuff! Available in 12 colors. Offered by the individual color on little plastic cards, in a 3-yard length.
Colors available are: Gold Metallic, Silver Metallic, Brown (898), Red (347), Orange (720), Fuschia (601), Yellow (728), Light Green (704), Green (911), and Turquoise (3846.)
Needlework Threads Color Card from DMC
Every few years, DMC updates their Thread Color Card. A big fold-out reference aid, the 2008 Issue is here. A sad sign of the times this time, however, is that we are no longer treated to actual thread samples... only color images of each. An unbelievable and happy sign of the times, however, is that the price has gone DOWN from $20 to $10... and that's GREAT!!!!!
This 9 x 12 heavy cardboard 'catalog of threads' -- printed in English, French and Spanish -- unfolds to reveal 10 inside pages that introduce each of the 8 different kinds of threads DMC produces. Along with the 'care and feeding' of your threads, it lists every color and tells you which kinds of threads include it in their color line. VERY useful for identifying loose threads, cool to help design things, wonderful to show you what the pattern calls for -- so you can find a substitute already in your stash... the uses for these cards goes on and on.
Included is full information about solids, variegated metallics and rayons in the Perle Cottons, Light Effects, Satin Flosses, and Cotton Floss lines.
Acid Free Tissue Paper
Ask any historian, librarian or preservationist... sun, air, chemicals and all the elements in our air are the worst enemies for keeping our needlework looking young, fresh, clean and not discolored. Kreinik has packaged 12- 20 x 30 sheets of acid-free tissue paper and recommend that we use it to store and preserve our needlework.
Unbuffered, museum quality, it prevents tarnishing and oxidation (changing colors), and will not scratch or mar your projects. Works to tuck between your fabrics, wrap silver charms and scissors... and preserve the original colors in samplers and finished pieces that you have (sinfully!) hidden away in your drawers!!!!!
Metal Finishing Forms|
Something SO WONDERFUL for ornament finishing, you'll need a boatload of these!!! We have 11 different sizes of metal disk forms available that make ornament finishing a breeze. Sold in pairs, you wrap your needlework around one of the forms, backing fabric around the other, glue the two sides together, and cover the seam with twisted corded trim! Zip-Zap, you're ready for the Holidays!!! We've shown two Mill Hill bead kits models in our pics, but so, so many different things will do well on these! Measurements given are the actual diameter of the forms. Each is gently curved up in the center, and a bit of padding as the fabric liners look extra-nice when finishing these. Remember, prices quoted are for a pair of forms. The Assortment package contains one pair each of size, except the 6-inch pair, and saves you a whopping $3.03!!!
14 Ct Perforated Paper
A line of stitching paper by Mill Hill, available in 17 different colors. Perforated paper is evenly pierced with holes.. . making it 14ct, and perfect for stitching!
Years ago, Perforated Paper was used for samplers, and lots of Home Sweet Home designs... you may have seen them in antique shops. Now, Mill Hill uses Perf Paper for cross stitch and bead work! Most of their small kit lines are designed on this paper, and although you'd think paper would be flimsy, it's actually very thick and strong!
Some colors (8-17) are hand-painted; all are available in packages of two 9 x 12 sheets.
Jim Shore Flourishes Perforated Paper
A lovely collection of 6 new pastel colors of 14ct perforated paper has arrived! Very soft colors, each has the faintest swirly/floral designs printed all over them... in an ever-so-slightly darker shade. I don't think our pics can show the pretty detail very well... one can only hope! Offered in 9 x 12 sheets -- two to a package.
Colorful, Double-Compartment Mesh Pouches
Hey... these are COOL!!!!! Here's a set of 4 zippered nylon pouches -- 4 different colors, 4 different sizes, TWO pockets in EACH! Weighing *nothing* the Apple Green Baby measures 6 x 8. One side is the black mesh with the green back. You can see what's inside this pocket. Unzip the pouch to find ANOTHER zipper in there... open THAT for another nylon pocket -- cannot see thru that one! Next is the Navy Blue one -- 12-3/4 x 5-3/4. Then, Red-- 8-1/4 x 10, and finally the biggest -- the orange one, measuring in at 10 x 13.
These are very fun! Use 'em for stitching, make-up, scrapbooking stuff, school supplies, coupons, whatever!!! Sold as the set of 4 pouches - so you get one of each color and size!
Another handy little zippered pouch!
Joining our selection of super-favorite soft plastic zipping pouches... is this new size! Approx 1-1/2 x 2 x 7... this one is a small 3-dimensional thing that stores DMC skeins, a few pair of scissors, the Kelmscott needle minders... extra packages of needles... all your stray buttons and Treasures... punch needles and threaders... tissues and chocolate... EVERYTHING! It's a great little size!
(***Note, we are temporarily out of ALL the rest of our plastic zipper pouches except for the 2 other new sizes... the turbo ones! We expect shipment in early March... so concentrate on these 3 newest sizes for the next few weeks!!!***)
Vinyl Project Pouches
These are the cool vinyl pouches that Bent Creek has used to package all their previous Zipper Kits! Available individually, without anything inside, these are great organizers!
They're easy to open and close, see-through, and they come in a variety of great sizes -- something for every project you've got going! Soft, heavy plastic, they won't get brittle over time and will last and last!Choose from 8 sizes!
New Petite Bead Options!
Here are 6 sets of 15-ott petite glass beads... some new color options we have not had before! Each set has 5 square tubes (little petite things measuring 1 cm x 3) containing lots (I didn't spill them out and count them!) of tiny beads.
Mill Hill Colored Bead Flier
from Mill Hill
This is a fantastic color 4 page printed 'card' of the entire line of Mill Hill Beads! Three pages of beads -- which someone has sewn onto fabric! -- all photographed in full color and grouped into color family order, and labeled as to color number. All the different sizes and shapes are pictured, as well as a table that tells you package size availability, and bead count!!! (We've always wanted to know how many beads are really in those little packs, but never had the patience to count them all!) Also included is a Personal Bead Inventory Sheet, so you can check off what you own, and what you need next! Best of all... this whole thing is only .50! (So pick up a bunch: one to save, one to carry around in your stitching bag, a few for friends... just don't order only one and nothing else, because the shipping will be more than the sheets!) You'll really enjoy these!
Fifty Cents each!
Vintage Needles in Original Packaging - With History!
What EXQUISITE Needlework Treats!!!!! We have found ACTUAL Vintage Needles, in their ORIGINAL packages... and each comes with a tiny bit of history about the needle company who produced them. Needle companies through the past 200 years have been buying each other out and consolidating, saving trademarks, re-naming, merging, re-building factories, you name it! Colonial Needle has lots of tiny old treasures that they have acquired over the years -- and here they are! We have three different collections of 4 packages each (covers promise 5 -- that is wrong)... old, real needles -- in their original packages (that look so cool in a framed shadow box or tucked into a special sewing case.) The packages are charming, and the history about each company is fascinating!
NOTE: All of these are now sold out excerpt for the Orange set. Thanks!
John James has run out of Platinum Needles, and because costs have risen so much, will not be plating more. Yarn Tree, one of our industry distributors, purchased their back-stock that were loose -- just bulk -- and re-packaged them in their cool little screw-top clear plastic needle vials! So, now we have Platinum Tapestry Needles again!!! ('till these are gone, too!)
Some stitchers have allergies to nickel -- the normal plating on needles -- so Platinum is a more comfortable stitching option. (Do your needles get brown-ish (tarnished) and draggy??? If so, you are probably allergic to nickel!) So... for a happy time, we have Tapestry Needles available in #24 for 14/28 counts, #26 for 32-ish counts and #28 for smaller count fabrics.
A set of 3 x 5 zip-lock plastic bags, these have always been wonderful for thread storage!
Set of 100.
A note from Lindy:|
We had a lot of trouble deciding what should be considered a "supply" and what would be considered a "gadget." So if you don't see what you are looking for here, we probably put it on the Gadget Pages. Take a look! And, remember, we have an 800 number. We just love helping you find exactly what you're looking for!!!
