Stars & Stripes - Lucy Moore - 1865
Oh, wow... this is an awesome sampler that has survived from 1865. Re-charted by Needlework Press, there is LOTS of history in here about the stitcher, her life and family, and the times she lived in. It finishes approx 25 inches wide by 8 inches high on Week's 30ct Straw Linen. It features alphabets of Algerian Eyelets, one-over-one and Four-Sided stitches.
All the names you see are real ones... but, for heavens sake... DON'T FEEL BAD CHANGING THEM TO YOUR OWN FAMILY NAMES! It's great to feature other people on your walls... very noble and historic... but nobody in your family knew them... and it's OK to make it your own!!! So... think about adding *Family Established* and names and dates or something like that. The sampler is neat.. cool shape, awesome story behind it... presented as a leaflet with great pic of the finished piece!
The fifth little clock design in NP's Time to Stitch Series! We have the 6-inch plastic fake alarm clock frames for these... Spring joins Christmas, Halloween, Sampler and Stitch Time designs!
Each finishes approx 3 x 3... so if you don't want a faux clock, make them into little pin cushions! We even have clock hands to attach if you want!
The Illustrated ABC
This is a small 5-1/2 x 8, 14-page little booklet that doesn't 'do' much, but it's real cute anyway! Full color, it has engravings of antique artwork in it, a charted alphabet, and awesome verses to go with each letter of the alphabet. I think it's supposed to be an inspiration to help you design some cushions???
*A for an apple so rosy and round. B for the basket in which it was found. C for the child that climbed to the stand. D for the doll she holds in her hand. All of that talks about the picture on that page. So... small verses and pretty pictures, see what you can do with it!
Here's another alarm clock design to decorate your stitching area! Needlework Press has charts like this for Halloween, Christmas and regular stitching... this one celebrates Samplers. It is stitched over one on 28 or 30ct linen and fits into an empty casing of a fake alarm clock!
Cute as can be, you COULD find a real clock to frame this into.. but the fake ones are cute too. The hands are stitched... we also have some clock hands embellishments, black on front and white on back -- $4 a set!
Needlework Press has a third clock design -- this is a fun piece stitched with Weeks Dye Works flosses or DMC on Weeks 30ct Aztec Red Linen.
It fits that fake alarm clock frame it's shown here -- the little clock is actually a few inches deep and sits on the shelf like a real clock!
So... get the clock frame, and then stitch *Time to Stitch* and *Halloween Time!*... and change them out in the frame.
Needlework Enthusiast's 2017 Book of Days
Needlework Press's annual *Sourcebook & Agenda for the thoughtful and Enlighttened Mind* is here! Available till December-ish... this is a softcover 9 x 12 book that features a calendar of 2017 -- with spaces to write in each day. With fun needlework related artwork throughout, and sampler quotes and verses, use this as your stitching diary.
Log your hours, write in your stitch group meeting dates and stitching trips, schedule good shopping road trips, keep track of new stitching friends in here. Use it for your wish lists, use it to mark the beginnings and endings of special projects! By then end of the year, your Book of Days might be tattered and well-loved... and what a wonderful stitching memory it will make!
Needlework Press's second design in their Time to Stitch series, this mini clock is stitched on Weeks Dye Works 30ct Grasshopper linen over one thread. It'd be cute just as a round pin cushion, but what makes it so charming is the fake clock frame it is mounted in!
A real-live 5 x 7 x 3 empty, old fashioned alarm clock (that is hollow inside -- so a fake!)... you mount the needlework inside of it -- too cute! Presented as a single card chart, the clock is offered separately -- cool to display other trinkets inside that cavity, as well!
*Measure Twice, Cut Once!* Another stitched tape measure!!!!! By Needlework Press, this is a 36-inch stitched banding that wraps around a wooden spool! Choose a favorite color of thread... you'll be stitching your ruler on the included 27ct linen banding. Vickie & Maegan warn you that the linen isn't PERFECT (they found this out the hard way!) -- so if you want a FUNCTIONING and accurate tape, keep counting and measuring and comparing to make sure your stitched measurements are accurate.
If you want just a cute measure tape around the spool -- you can follow the chart just fine -- but might be a thread or two 'off' at the final 36-inch mark. Then, your tape rolls up on that spool -- how cute is that?!
Time to Stitch
Oh wow... we ALL need this pattern!!! Choose a favorite color of thread -- and decide how big you want this to be. The chart suggests 28ct to fit into the top of either an 8 x 8 or 6 x 6 Lone Elm Lane Shaker Box. They have used Lady Dot Creates hand-dyed cotton chenille for the edging to trim and cover any edging issues.
NOW... THINK! Choose a bitty fabric, and go over one if you want -- stitch count for this is 90 stitches -- make pin cushions!!! You can either fit this into a Lone Elm smaller cushion base --or just finish this into a round stuffed cushion! It's the sweetest thing! A button box would be neat, but so would a pin cushion! We have TONS of options for you! Presented as a chart.
An AaBbCc Spool
This is kind of a fun thing to stitch and display with your finished treasures... It is a wooden spool that features a stitched tape wrapped around it. Stitch the abc's on the 32 inch cut of hemmed linen banding... or even ruler measurements... you can make it say whatever YOU want! Choose a favorite color of thread and stitch the skinny band. Instructions are included to finish the end, and attach it to the spool.
You could keep this in your stitching basket and use it as a letter reference, you could find a gorgeous border from a neat sampler and stitch that on here instead... I just think the whole finishing presentation is really fun and different! Offered as the alphabet chart, spool, linen banding cut and instructions.
Martha Edes 1745 Boston Band Sampler
What were you stitching when you were 12?! Martha was a busy girl! Her sampler is re-created on 40ct Weeks Straw Linen and measures approx 9 x 13. It incorporates the trademark hexagonal or hour glass band found in Boston Band Samplers. Lots of Satins, Long Armed Crosses, and Eyelets, there are some free-form leaves on the flowers near the bottom.
Offered as the leaflet with beautiful color pic on the front and several pages of the charted sampler, there is also ONE page in here that shows the entire piece charted -- a really helpful stitchiing aide.
Here's a delightful piece inspired by doodles from artist Nancy Mills. Charted by Needlework Press, "it's free-flowing lines and casual playfulness expressed a bit of whimsey while capturing a sense of pride in our Sweet land of Liberty."
Finishing approx 7 x 7 on 32ct, it's worked with only 4 colors -- choose DMC or some pretty matching hand-dyeds from your stash. Offered as a chart.
Something to save away for Springtime stitching it seems... this rabbit design has been charted from an old drawing rescued out of an antique shop. Stitch him over one or two threads, Needlework Press discusses adding trims or special stitches to the egg, and various finishing treatments for this little guy.
The gingham fabric he is stitched on gives him an old fashioned charm as well. Over two on the check, he finishes approx 7 x 10-1/2 -- actually quite large. The smaller 'mattress' size depends on your fabric choice for this 101 x 153 stitch count design.
A Mexican Band Sampler
Appearing as a 'teaser' on page 40 of their Sonoran borders book -- Threads of Friendship -- Vickie and Maegan have charted their antique sampler.
Measuring approx 16 x 6 on 32 to 36ct linen, it features classic rhythmic borders and bright colors. No original date or signature -- just a mysterous W!
This little piece has been recharted from an antique wool-work sampler. No date or initials... add some if you want!
Because the original was stitched in heavy, colorful wools, the chart now calls for Gentle Art's Simply Wool threads -- which will make it softer looking than floss would. Measures 5-1/2 x 9-1/2 on Weeks 30ct Straw Linen.
Home Sweet Motor Home
Hitting the road this summer??? Stitch something for that Home Away From Home!
With a stitch count of 114 x 42... it's a bitty thing, and can we worked on any fabric in any colors to match your moving decor! Offered as a small chart.
Needlework Press has taken very traditional sampler motifs, chosen some dusty, faded colors of hand-dyed silks, and added a piece of mangy hand-dyed linen... to stitch this welcoming piece. Forget *Arizona* in there -- she has this charted for all 50 states, as well as Canada, England and France! NOT just the alphabet... all of the states are spelled out in here to make it easy on you!
A really nice housewarming gift... this needs to hang in a foyer, or up the stairs, or what about by the coat-hooks in the back hall? It just really says *Home Sweet Home!* Offered as the chart.
