Buttons & Beads -- Christmas & Winter 2013
Mill Hill newest set of 5 x 5 Button and Bead kits are HERE!! I just love this year's set of designs...
Mill Hill's Winter Holiday Mini Ornament-Magnet Kits for 2013
A whole new set of small ornaments for your Christmas Tree... these are always fun to stitch. Offered as little kits for only $7 each... you get the chart, 14ct perforated paper, proper sized needles, all the flosses and beads, and even a magnet for the back. Darling as tree ornaments, they look good on the frig, or dressing the file cabinet at work too!
Lily of the Valley Biscornu from Faby Reilly
The eighth addition to this collection of lovely biscornu designs -- even though this is stitched with regular 'ol DMC floss on plain 'ol 32ct Antique White Belfast Linen, it is stunningly elegant! Joining Violet, Iris, Peony, Apple Blossom, Plum Orchid, Cornflower, and the cute little snowmen, the stitching detail is delicate and fine.
This one has no gold metallic in it... but one of the cover pics shows a pair of gold wedding bands -- what a pretty ring-bearer pillow! Garnished with a few Mill Hill cream beads, there is a larger pebble bead in the center to anchor it, and make the tufted shape. Beautifully charted, all the biscornus in this set are VERY pretty! With a stitch count of 66 x 66, they finish approx 3-1/2 inches in size.
More Love Hearts from Rovaris of Italy!
What a stunning pair of designs by Rovaris of Italy! A new trio of hearts -- each of these is presented in chart format -- and offer simple elegance! All are stitched in DMC 815 red... but you could choose any solid or hand-dyed cotton or silk you wish.
On 32ct, they finish approx 9 x 9, give or take a few stitches. One of the shop gals does these over one (a little over 4 x 4 on 40ct)... and they would be lovely as needlework mounted next to a wedding invitation in a double-opening presentation. Or... just the way they are!
Stu, Sam & Syd: Little Monsters!
from AB Designs
Amy has a trio of new little scary people... to join Mike, Mac and Moe! Offered as small card charts, stitch them on almost any fun, bright color of whatever count you want... they are only 40 x 40-ish stitches each!
VERY fun to work up on 10ct fabric with specialty threads, these belong in the bedroom of some OTHER scary little person in your life! Just the cutest -- look through your metallics, and buttons to jazz them up! Each is a separate little card chart.
from AB Designs
Amy has designed this colorful piece to make you smile!!! She started it at The Stitcher's Garden in NY... so she'd dedicated it to those gals... and all the rest of us needlework shoppes!! With a stitch count of 141 x 101... stitch all three flowers, or one.
Do the verse, or not. Add her clay button below... or stick it in the center of a flower. Offered as the chart with the clay flower button, this is coded for Weeks hand-dyeds or DMC, and is stitched on Week's 30ct Peoria Purple linen!
Teresa Layman has 4 gorgeous new miniature rug designs
All are worked in French and Colonial Knots with DMC floss! No Cross Stitches in these... you work them in a tight-tension hoop with a small sharp needle. One wrap of one strand of floss... basically these are filled in just like 'paint-by-number.' Teresa's original artwork has been printed on the fabric for you...you fill in the drawing with all those tiny knots.
All you *Knotty Gals* out there will love her new pieces! Teresa has a huge collection of charming designs -- we have ornaments, little rugs (that can be framed rather than displayed in a doll house), even a few scissor and needlecase designs -- and she even stars in her own instructional DVD -- if you need that little extra help!
Agnes Platt's Strawberry Sampler
from Blackbird Designs
Blackbird has a pretty new leaflet... it celebrates an 1800's sampler stitched by someone named Agnes Platt. Re-charted and coded for Gentle Art Sampler threads, Barb and Alma have pulled out design elements and designed new projects inspired by the sampler. There were evidently lots of specialty stitches in the original -- and they have made SURE that they kept them in when they re-charted the piece for us.
There is a beeskep done in Satins, a couple of floral urns -- one features berries worked in Queen Stitches. So... you get the original sampler -- re-charted. Alma's design is a pretty floral urn, Barb's is a red brick house with that charming skep. As always, beautiful pictures, lots of inspiration... and gorgeous, GORGEOUS colors in all the projects!
We begin a NEW 2013 Loose Feathers Automatic beginning with this leaflet. The 30ct R & R linen is here... a fat quarter will do all the projects in the leaflet, we understand!
Betsy from Sheepish Designs
Oh wow... we have had a retired model of this in the back room of the shop for years and years! I had thought we couldn't get the pattern anymore, but I loved the stitched model so much, I couldn't part with it. Then... MAGIC! By Sheepish Designs, this is Betsy Ross stitching the first American flag. She's in her garden of sheep, a peacock, birds, flowers and even a squirrel up there in the tree.
Coded for silks or DMC, it uses only Cross stitch and finishes approx 4-1/4 x 12-1/2 on 35ct. I'm not sure what part of it has the overwhelming appeal that it does... but over the years several gals have tried to buy the model, and were always disappointed that we had no chart! So, we present Betsy, in chart format, probably till we run out again!!
Sarah Chapple 1831 from Shakespeare's Peddler
*And let it begin with me!*Teresa Venette has been busy recharting an antique sampler she bought at an auction. Stitched in England in 1831 by 11yr old Sarah Chapple, Teresa points out lots of charming elements of the piece in her notes. Check out the U-shaped border in the center, the mis-matched urns farther down -- they'd make pretty pin cushions! The house features a fence that is stitched in 4-Sided! The sampler's original colors were awesome -- this still has lots of bold red and olive greens in it, and the verse is a really nice one. Instead of death and rotting bones, Sarah is recording the love of God and the fact that unlike the fleeting flowers of nature... God's love 'forever shall endure.'
Charted for silks or DMC, the stitch count on this is 301 x 407. Parts are worked over one -- the verse and some butterflies -- and that fence is 4-Sided, which is pretty cool for an old sampler. So... on 32ct, your piece will finish approx 19 x 25-1/2! So... get busy, there are LOTS of stitches in this one!!! Offered as the chart.
The Spring Garden
from The Drawn Thread!
OH... Drawn Thread has another long, skinny garden scene -- this one is LUSCIOUS! I have 4 dogs at my house right now... so my Spring Garden doesn't look like this! Following the same idea as her Herb and Butterfly Garden pieces... this is a row of pretty flowers -- all stitched with scattered specialty stitches everywhere!
The chart is just one of those that your fingers itch to stitch!!! Finishing approx 4 x 18 on 32ct, this time around WE HAVE ALL THE HAND-DYED SILKS RIGHT IN THE PACKAGE! Yeah!!! Yummy Dinky Dyes, Needlepoint Inc and Silk 'n Colors, so many pretty colors to make all the lacy, delicate flowers.

Button Up Birdies #8
from The Victoria Sampler
Oh, we love these little birds! Pretty backyard visitors, Cathy Jean has designed this great series, all stitched on 28ct Dirty Cashel Linen in soft shades of Gentle Art hand-dyed flosses. You'll remember that the first 6 books followed the months of the year. (We used to have an auto-ship for these... but she finished the regular-releasing schedule, so the auto-ship has ended.)
Each bird is approx 2 x 3... and is shown primitive-stitched onto a bit of fabric. You could use Week's wool to finish your pillows... that would be stunning... kind of soft like bird feathers. The thread accessory pack contains all the flosses, beads and button embellishments -- ALONG with those cute wood-slice buttons. I don't know who goes out into the woods to find the sticks that are all the same diameter so the buttons all look similar... but they are actual slices of wood -- complete with their bark! So... Button Up Birdies #8 is offered as the leaflet of Oriole and Barn Swallow. Accs pack is separate.
Beautiful Finishing #12
from The Victoria Sampler
Victoria Sampler continues her series of designs that highlights finishing techniques as much as stitching. Bringing you ornaments, boxes, cushions and fobs of all sorts of different sizes and shapes, Book #12 shows you how to construct a folding three-panel heart etui, as well as a classic biscornu shape that has been covered with a separate piece of needlework. The first half of the book presents the needlework -- great pictures, diagrams and charts for the Hardanger work.
The second half of the book offers 36 photographs of all the assembly processes you need to know to create all the different shapes and pieces. The Heart Etui projects are worked on 28ct White Cashel linen with the DMC colors of 500's and 223's -- only all the threads are silks and hand-dyeds (no DMC). The silk ribbon is included along with the glass beads. Pretty little pieces, the main heart measures approx 5 x 5, the biscornu approx 4-1/2 inches square, while the fob has a silk ribbon embroidery area of only 12 stitches!! Now... if you're not into finishing... just stitch everything and leave them as flat pieces or frame 'em! Offered as the leaflet with separate accessory pack.
Liberty Squared from Erica Michaels
Erica Michaels has a few new miniature silk-gauze pieces... Liberty Squared follows the same format as her Jingle, Seaside and Scared Squares. A 2-inch, 4-square theme... can you see the four different sections in here?
The flag, the verse, USA and the hometown fireworks scene? You get a lot into your 72 x 72 half stitches on 40ct!!! Offered as the chart with cut of gauze. On 28ct, this would finish approx 5 x 5!
Letters! from Cross Eyed Cricket
By Cross Eyed Cricket's Vicki Hastings... here is a 4-leaflet set of the letters of the alphabet! (Remember her old pattern #32 -- the old alphabet?) Time for a new set of letters to say what you need to say!!! Each letter is roughly the same size, charted for DMC floss, and can be used to spell out words and names, or used as the 'capital letter'... or just by itself. You can see which leaflets have which letters in them... and she has named them all... which I think is terribly fun and worth listing here! Makes them all the more fun to look at!
A is for Autumn Acorn. Busy Bees & Beehive. Crows Eating Cherries. Dressy Doll. Ewe in the Eyelet. Feather & Flag. Grandma's Garden. Heart of the Home. Ivy Invasion. A Jack and 3 Johnnys. Keys for the Keyhole. Linen Letters. Mouse Spying Mittens. Numbers in the Night. Oak Leaf Clock. Patterned Pumpkin. Quiet Quilt. Ribbany Rabbit. Sampler Scissors. Tea for Elevenses. Uncle's Unicycle. Very Valentine. Wreath of Wildflowers. Hugs & Kisses. Yakish Yarn. and...Zephyr. Aren't they neat?!
Laundry Wahine Style! - Secret Needle Night for May 2013
Mona and I have JUST gotten home from a cruise to Hawaii -- and now have palm trees and grass skirts on our minds! (Oh yes, there is plenty of laundry to do as well!) So... the inspiration to re-work a previous Secret Needle Night design that was a Super-Favorite -- Laundry in Paradise! Our *Chick Laundry Line* has that little Arctic Rays skirt, Weeks hand-dyed perle in the palm fronds, and little shells we brought home from our trip! Use them for the bikini top, and shells on the sand. We have tiny wooden coconuts in the trees as well!
Complete kit on 18ct buttermilk linen contains the threads, embellishments and chart. Mona's Finishing Kit includes the precut mounting boards, pre-tied bow, little shell-topped pin to decorate your pre-tied bow... all the 'pre-stuff' has been lovingly made for you by Magic By Mona!
Teflon Finished DOVO Scissors
Here is a new finish to one of our favorite DOVO scissor styles... these are just a dream to cut with! A 4-inch embroidery scissor, the handles are normal-sized, but the blades on these are a lovely, THIN and tapered full 1-1/2 inches long. These feel so slender and graceful in your hand, those blades simply disappear to nothing at the razor-sharp tips.
We carry these in three different finishes already -- brushed stainless (looks like pewter), brushed gold, and half-gold/half-brushed stainless. Now we can offer this sleek black Teflon -- a soft, black matte finish. A full 4 inches long, they cut beautifully because there is so much length to them.
Little House and Country Cottage Sets Have Arrived!
We think maybe this little guy is showing courage because he's standing on top of his hill all by himself??? Garnished with a pair of lavender roses... the wool featured this month is Iris by Weeks.
#6... its button embellishment is a big reindeer jingle bell.
This one isn't designed to be stitched as one medley piece with it's counterparts... this one looks best when you stitch each design and finish it into its own separate stand-up.
from Little House Needleworks
Oh, this is CUTE! That darling bird has on her glasses -- and see? -- she's reading a book! We love her checkered wing and her tulip tail... we love the colors and the fat leaves down at the bottom.
Just a fun design, it is offered as a small chart and worked in DMC or hand-dyed flosses. Finishes approx 6 x 6.
Mother & Friend from Pine Mountain Designs
Pine Mountain has sent a new small 6 x 6 pillow kit -- celebrating Moms and Friends. The complete kit features a ready-made pillow of yellow, aqua, orange and white stylized floral print surrounding a 16ct Aida center panel.
The included flosses match the fabric perfectly, so even if you change the wording in the stitching, you can't mess this up! Just a cheerful thing for Mom.
Fun Every Day: September
from SamSarah Design Studio
Sam Sarah's Perpetual Calendar is swiftly moving along... we are up to September's patterns already! The cutest thing... you stitch cards for every day of the year and a few seasonal panels to decorate your metal stand... and you'll always know what day it is!!! A great way to use up your misc hand-dyed threads, the stitching is easy -- there's just a lot of it!
Each month's designs are offered in its own leaflet... 14ct perforated paper for the stitching is offered separately, and there is also a set of hanging/backing cards to cover the backside of your stitching. If you're not into the whole 'calendar thing'... just stitch those month panels and the few decorations -- like this month's school bus and apple. Real cute!
New Just Nan things are here!!!
Nan is in a Springtime mood, and all three new offerings are full of Spring and summertime charm!
Barnabee in Bloom from Just Nan
Joining Gingerbread Mouse (sold out) and Honey Bunny (also sold out) comes Barnabee. He's a little bee flying around the garden looking for Scarlet and Bella! Stitched on 32ct cream Belfast linen in DMC flosses, he is actually a small pin keep, but you could hide a threader or some buttons and needles inside him as well. Just a small thing, his stitching measures 2 x 3, and since he folds over to create the case, his finished size is 1-1/2 x 1-3/4. Garnished with blue and yellow (peanut!) beads, black metal eye beads, glitter tulle for his wings, a bit of wire for his antennae, and bumblebee ribbon for his hanger, he's a colorful little guy.
Offered as the chart with embellishments as a LIMITED EDITION... he will not be around for long. Nan is promising 4 more ornaments in this set -- coming between August and December. We have an auto-ship if you'd like -- it begins with Barnabee, but we can add Honey Bunny till ours are sold out!
Summer by the Sea from Just Nan
This is the second of 4 in the Lettered Border series. A weathered gray house overlooks the ocean with seagulls announcing a whale on the horizon. A band of shells and starfish completes the coastal scene. The surrounding border is filled with wild roses, daisies and lavender alphabet letters worked over one. I love the big, bold border... your eye sees that first, but then you are treated to the tiny seaside scene in the center. The waves are checkerboard, but there are more above in the sky band -- swirls of wind? The lawn is neatly mowed, the fence is pristine, very organized and pretty. You'll notice the alphabet letters scattered in the border -- change them to spell a message, or family initials and important dates of homes established, that sort of thing. They can spell tiny hidden messages.
Offered as a chart with embellishments, this finishes approx 9 x 9 on 32ct Flax Belfast Linen. Coded for DMC flosses, it also uses Gentle Art's Freedom and Moonlit Path overdyeds. The Autumn and Winter Lettered Border Samplers will release later this year -- we have an auto-ship on those as well, which includes the chart, embellishments and linen cut.
Song of the Seasons from Little House Needleworks
A new Mystery Sampler is in the works and COMING!!!!! Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks joins the designers that have contributed to this fun sampler program through-out the last few years -- and this one promises to be SUPER-CUTE! We never get a pic of the finished piece *till it's finished* hence, the MYSTERY! But we know this: Stitch count is 151 x 178. Recommended fabric is Week's Dye Works Straw. We carry it in 30, 35 and 40ct -- so you have a choice with your fabric count. It uses 12 skeins of Week's Dye Works hand-dyed flosses -- multiple skeins of a few of the colors.
Your first installment -- which includes the first chart with the thread key for all three parts -- ship to us on June 11th. We will ship the fabric and flosses at that time. Part two releases July 9th, and part three on August 6th. (Please give the post office and UPS time to deliver to us, and then to re-deliver to you!) NOOOOO other news yet... just let us know your fabric preference, and whether or not you want the floss... and we'll get you on that auto-list ASAP! Charts will run $8.00 each..
(***FYI: The previous 4 Mystery Samplers are still available. Can you name them all? #1 was With Thy Needle, #2 was La-D-Da, #3 was Lizzie Kate, #4 was Blue Ribbon Designs. Pics of all are on the respective designer pages if you're curious!)
Coffee Compendium & Tempting Teas from Tempting Tangles
Here is a pair of neat designs by Tempting Tangles -- tributes to teas and coffees. Each measures approx 260 x 300 stitches -- generous enough to be able to read all the neat names of all the different varieties of teas and coffees. Coded for Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses or DMC... these are full of personality!
Pretty colors, charming coffee and tea pots scattered everywhere - do you see Silver Needle in the tea piece??? Beautiful fonts, soothing colors, VERY classy additions to a kitchen wall! Offered as charts, these are nice!
Three New Jingle Ornaments are Here! from Lizzie*Kate
Three smaller designs to add to your collection of 12 Jingles designs... each is shown as an individual ornament on the chart's front cover... and as the whole composite pic on the back. Our Mona has done the finishing, so you can go to her blog and glean all sorts of finishing secrets and tips, so your finishing will turn out perfectly.
Anyway, Linda's designs are cute and quick, charted for several different brands of floss, and each includes a bitty embellishment to help make your stitching sparkle! Jingles #1, 2 and 3 have already been released... 4, 5 and 6 are here... and the other 6 release in a few months. Join our auto-ship so you don't have to keep track of ordering dates and miss any of them.
Buzzy String from Lizzie*Kate
LOonnnng and skinny... this little guy measures approx 1 x 13-1/2 if you stitch it on 28ct linen. Quite on the cuter side of things, get bits of the flosses from your stash, and go crazy adding lots of embellishments from said stash!
Lots of room for color-creativity here... and even more room for the misc buttons and charms you have that are homeless right now! Offered as a small card chart, a quick stitch!
Think Deeply from Lizzie*Kate
*Think deeply, speak gently, love much, laugh often, work hard, give freely and be kind!*
LOTS of good advice in this 2 x 16 inch piece -- stitched on 32ct Lambswool linen with overdyeds or DMC flosses -- or a combo of both. Very 'Lizzie-Kate-y! Offered in a chart.
A Perfectly Kept House Boxer from Lizzie*Kate
Well... don't stitch this and leave it anywhere where your cleaning lady can see it! (It might not send a good message!) BUT... if you have no cleaning lady... you might want to take a look at this. By Lizzie Kate, this is offered as a partial kit of chart, embellishments and cut of 32ct Lambswool linen. You'll need a needle, and bits of flosses from your stash.
The bonus chart -- Live Simply -- will need an additional cut of your favorite fabric -- it'll be cute on almost anything -- it's trimmed with a bit of rik-rack edging. LK's Inspiration Boxers continue to be a really popular series of designs -- we have them all, and they are worth a look!
Beehive Needlebook and Fob
from The Constant Stitcher
The Constant Stitcher has another cute beaded needlecase pattern just like her ladybug design! Stitched on 25ct Lugana you'll need 4 skeins of DMC 676 to stitch the background all the honeycombs -- which are worked in beads. Almost solidly covered in beads... when the case is finished, it'll feel heavy in your hand because of those glass beads.
The approx 5 x 9 (when open) book is lined with 2 cuts of Week's Dye Works wool... honey and creme colors. Offered as a chart with all the necessary beads and wools and assembly instructions... there is a tiny micro-magnet included to help hold the case together. The chart for the fob is also included... and Susan suggests adding some bee charms to that fob for decoration. (Bees not included -- but with so many options on the market -- you might already have some in your stash.)
Noel Feutre from Cmon Monde
This is a darling little design that features some bits of wool felt applique as parts of the design. Stitched in Gentle Art Sampler Threads and bits of DMC, check out the mushroom top, the tree and the gifts... they aren't stitched! They are bits of wool sewn on! The chart does have them charted... and in those instructions, I also noticed the charted greens at the top and bottom -- but in the model they are primitive stitched! REALLY cute!
So... you can stitch the entire piece, or add the buttons and ribbons and bits of fun fabrics if you like! Noel Feutre is presented in French -- so I can't read a word of the instructions except the thread names and DMC numbers. Stitch count is163 x 100, this is a chart.
Primitive Lace and Elizabeth Scissors from Kelmscott!
Kelmscott has two new finishes in two of their current scissor styles... choices and more choices! A matte black look, they have a delicate antiqued finish which can be buffed and will show soft patina wear and tear after using.
Paula suggests that you can take a cloth and GENTLY buff off and "offings" the factory did not remove, and after repeated use, the finish will softly wear to a lighter black where you've been holding them. Maybe not a good idea to put a new pair in a white sewing case right away!!! Cute little scissors -- pretty with a distressed and antique-y fob or in a neat old fashioned scissor case.
Just cute little 1-2 inch mother-of-pearl acorn shaped buttons -- sew them onto anything where an acorn is just the right touch!
Offered in packages of 10!
Life is a Beach
from Queenstown Samplers
Watch out for the crabs! (Good advice... nothing more to say!!) Stitched in DMC 498 red and 310 black... the little crab eyes would be cute done with black beads, and this would make a fun little block stand-up.
113 x 144 Stitch count, offered as a chart by Queenstown Samplers.
Sous la neige & Ma Petite deco de Noel
from The Tralala Collection
We have two new designs by Tra La La... absoulutely the cutest things... one for Christmas and one for winter.
Elegant Shell Thread Winder and Magnet Sets from Giulia Punti Antichi
Fresh out of Giulia Manfredini's suitcase all the way from Italy appear these delightful shell pieces! Carved and cut -- shaped into exquisite thread winders and paired with magnets, we have two sets to tempt! The first features a 5-petal flower gently carved into the 1-inch magnet and the 4 corners of the 2-1/2 x 1-3/8 inch winder.
The second set features a charming 4-story house complete with trees and country wind mill on its magnet. Notice that if you actually wrap your winders with threads you won't cover their pretty decorations! So unusual and elegant tucked into special sewing case, or perched nearby some antique scissors or a sampler... these are functional at the same time!!!
See our GPA page for more new designs!
Ann Blockley's Set of Smalls from Milady's Needle
Milady's Needle has a set of 3 charts that together make this delightful set of 6 matching smalls. Pin cushions, keeps and a scissor case, all are garnished with pretty laces or trims and old buttons. Since all are stitched on a variety of linens... choose YOUR favorite for your set. All are coded for Belle Soie Silk or DMC floss, and all six pieces have basically the same color scheme.
At first I was afraid of the buttoned trim on one of the cushions -- but it is purchased lace -- you attach the buttons! Charming finishing on all... I don't see how you can choose a favorite pair of the six... so I showed them all together. Consider a package or two of Kelmscott's mother-of-pearl shell buttons for finishing on these... several shapes, consistent sizing... but accent with some fancy old buttons as well!
Land of Liberty from Miles to Go
This is a cute patriotic design -- that big 'ol striped star in the center of backstitched words -- it finishes only 5-1/2 inches square on 32ct. I originally thought this was full of specialty stitches in the stripes of the star, but the colors have been manipulated to LOOK like textured stitches! It is really interesting, and FULL of 'pattern.'
A very cute design -- it deserves attention and a place in your *stitching schedule!!!* Offered as a single chart, it is coded for DMC floss, and since it is regular Cross Stitch -- Aida or linen -- in any count will be great!
Graduation is Approaching! from Sue Hillis Designs
Stitch Sue Hillis' The Graduate's Journey or Congratulations... depending on the graduate... and your time frame!!!
Doodle-Doo Sewing Case & Beaded Fob Set
from Fern Ridge Collections
Fern Ridge has so many new releases -- we brought home 10 different things from Market -- all eclectic and really cute! The Doodle-Doo Set is SO colorful and wild... I love the FR Kits because you get EVERYTHING in them... and this one is no exception!
*Doodle* is stitched on 28ct Touchstone Silk/Linen in hand-dyed silks and garnished with the coolest rainbow hand-dyed silk ribbon on his tail feathers. The case edges are trimmed with yellow and black square beads, and inside the case, you'll find a burlap banding that is rolled up to be a little hay bale! There's even a bitty 1-inch wooden barn trinket in here... along with a 2-inch matching wooden ruler! All the laces, threads, beads, wood, fabrics, trims and linings are included.
Then... Peyote stitch Doodle on a matching beaded scissor fob!!! The *tail feathers* on that one are just loops of beads attached after the fob is finished! LOOK at the luscious colors on that little thing! Just spectacular! Both the case and fob are offered as complete kits.
Gold and Silver Metallic Linen!
Here's an unusual find from Market!!! Directly from France... we have 28ct Natural Linen that has been *finished* with either gold or silver metallic! A stiffer vs softer linen, it is a regular 28ct natural -- on the backside. On the front, however, it hasn't been 'painted' or 'dyed', but maybe... 'fused?' with an exceptionally shiny and pretty metallic color. Perfect for smaller Christmas ornaments or a neat little cushion or framed piece... we have no specific patterns for this... it's just a really pretty and UNIQUE fabric option!
The color does 'wear' off a bit where ours was folded when it made the trip home, so that is why I think smaller pieces would work better for this than larger. (I imagine you could distress the heck out of it, and be left with hints of 'worn gold leaf' for instance, for a really aged look.) Holes are definitely intact -- but I have no idea if it'll distress delicate threads or not. We just loved it, and HAD to HAVE it! Offered in 18 x 27 cuts -- fat quarter pieces -- several of the shop gals split theirs with each other, to get both the gold and the silver. We have rolled our cuts, with no folds, so they will ship to you in a box. Too cool and different to pass up! I expect my first shipment to sell out quickly... we'll start a wait list if necessary for a re-order!
Rites of Spring from Cherished Stitches
Cherished Stitches has a pretty pin cushion -- a small Limited Release kit -- that is such a pretty blue color. Birds, bunnies and young love, the 4 x 4-ish design is stitched with Week's hand-dyed flosses on 32ct Twilight Blue Belfast. The kit contains the blue patterned fabric you see on the right side, the ribbon, lace and buttons for finishing, along with the chart, Belfast and the flosses!
Just a sweet thing... it finishes approx 4 x 7 when completed. I love these when they are stuffed with something heavier than poly-fil. Use plastic pellets or crushed walnut shells.
Petite Pyn Pillow Kit
from Olde Colonial Designs
This is a sweet design -- just 35 x 40 stitches over two on 32ct -- it's stitched in DMCs 930, 931, 932 and 520. It is shown finished as a small cushion -- the kit contains the blue cord you see on the edge treatment.
Everything is packaged inside a brown chipboard round box 2 inches high by 3-1/2 inches round. It is one of those you can paint and Bri-Wax to make it old and smooth... and NOW you'll have a box with a pyn pillow inside! (Or on top if you want -- there is enough of the linen!) Complete kit contains the brown, box, chart, linen, cushion backing fabric (or lining for the box bottom) floss, cord trim and needle.
Buttons & Beads -- Autumn 2013!
OK... SPRING isn't even here yet... so you have PLENTY of time to get these worked on before September!!! Mill Hill is great about releasing their seasons in advance... so here's an Autumn treat! Six 5 x 5 designs, all stitched on 14ct perforated paper in TONS of beads and colorful DMC flosses... each features a button embellishment as well. (We always stitch our models on 28ct linen -- 14ct Aida works well, too.)
The sunflower is bold and bright -- very classy -- and I love that barn scene! After 20-ish years of annual designs, everyone loves these year after year! Complete kits contain the chart, paper, flosses, beads, needles and buttons.
Autumn Harvest 2013
Mill Hill has sent this year's set of small ornaments -- 3 x 3-ish stitched and beaded delights -- all worked on 14ct perforated paper. This year we get a soccer ball -- wow, that's going to popular! A Jeweled apple, and sparkly acorn, cute little hen, but best of all -- that darling Dracula and his favorite gravesite!!!!!
Always fun to do... these come as small complete kits of all the beads, threads, paper... everything! Make them into little magnets or hang them from a Fall or Halloween Tree as decoration.
OHhh... here's a set of some unusual stitched pieces! Little ornaments, we think each can be stitched either 3 or 4-sided... you choose! (wouldn't a glass lampshade out of Daisy Mae be neat!?) Stitched on 14ct perforated paper, each side finishes approx 1-3/4 x 2-1/4... without the hanging fringe.
Very different for Mill Hill, lots of bright color, each kit contains BOTH design options and enough materials to make both ornaments shown. Be Colorful!!
Numero from Jeannette Douglas
What a neat design! Jeannette offers *a study* of the abbreviation to the word number. (**like why??**?... Because antique stencils of old numbers on linen pillows enchant her. The elegant brass plates of room numbers in old hotels look cool. Numbers printed on old labels and jars and crocks are neat. Get the idea?) So... she has chosen a dreamy, old-fashioned, quiet and elegant color palette of Gentle Art's Simply Wools in Soot, Barn Gray and Roasted Marshmallow, along with Week's Kohl cotton, and stitched her sampler on 28ct Natural Linen.
Now... stitch it as is -- it is lovely -- ORRRRR -- choose numbers that are special to you and feature them in these blocks. The leaflet comes with a packet of buttons -- one mother-of-pearl, 4 asst tiny buttons, and that awesome blackened key charm down in the right-hand corner. Use those and add more charms or special buttons from your grandmother's button box... use numbers of birthdates, wedding dates, old house addresses, old safe combinations, the numbers of the winning lottery ticket you bought but then lost... number of children you have... ANY numbers that are significant to you and your family. Jeannette talks about making each into individual pin cushions and nestling them into an old basket! I love all the little borders, all the little sections, and the colors -- just so retro and classic! Offered as the leaflet with button pack... threads and fabric offered separately, this finishes approx 11 x 11. The stitched model is stunning!
Tag Trios from Jeannette Douglas
Jeannette Douglas has the CUTEST set of three *thingies.* Little hang-abouts or pin cushions... each can be finished as a simple little pillow, but are extra charming mounted onto a YUMMY grey-black antiqued mini tag-shaped board. Each of these is stitched on 32ct Natural Linen in dark Raven and Charcoal colors of Simply Wool or Waterlilies silk. They measure approx 2 x 3, because the overall tag boards are only 2-3/4 x 4-1/2. Each tiny cushion design has matte black embellishment beads, or a matte black safety pin -- our black mourning pins are in one, Threads contains three Kelmscott tulip thread rings... and each has 4 miniature matte black brads to attach to the board.
These are FULL of cool stuff, and really creative! The black and charcoal color scheme of all is lovely and very classy. Notice the teeny black scissors tucked behind the Scissors one? They are available separately, and a perfect size for this little guy!
Each Trio kit is packaged with it's chart, linen, necessary threads and embellishments. Gray finished tags and black scissors are offered separately. TOO DARN CUTE!!!!! (I believe the kits for these are limited in edition. Going forward, we'll be able to get the charts and boards. We carry some of the threads and embellishments -- the black brads come from the scrapbook store. So... if you aren't a *hunter and gatherer*, just get the kits while we have them!)
Spring Quaker Pincushions from Jeannette Douglas
We have a set of three *Limited Edition* Quaker Biscornu kits that are petite and precious! Jeannette has a classic Quaker star motif charted for you, and provides three different colorways to stitch it! Stitched on 32ct linen, the blue cushion is worked in Simply Wools of Summer Meadow and Summer Shower, with a Dove Blue Week's Wool back side. The mustard one has the same blues, plus a bit of Citronella wool, while the pink one has Cinnabar and Kudzu wool and Faded Roses and Red Grape Simply Wool.
The colors in all three are dreamy and soft... little buttons in them to embellish... a heart pin in the pink, a teeny safety pin and *made with love* charm on there. (Jeannette bought those from US!) She has kitted up everything for you, all you'll need is a bit of fluff to stuff each mini 2 x 2 cushion. Notice the finishing on the pink one... she glued a stick from her backyard into it... tied a bit of green wool around it for leaves... and stuck it into a spool!
Little Black Scissors
Just tiny things, these are a 'preemie' size scissor -- only 2-1/2 inches in overall length, offered in a matte black finish.
Sharp little guys, nice finger holes, they are featured in Jeannette Douglas's Scissor Tag Trio design!
Pine Mountain's Spring Typography
Pine Mountain has a new pillow design... a 9 x 15 sized pillow trimmed with gigantic rik-rak that features a 5 x 7 area of 16ct Aida for your stitching. All sorts of words about Spring make up the design, which is stitched with DMC floss.
What makes these Pine Mountain designs fun is the fact that the pillow sham is pre-sewn, and they come as a complete stitching kit -- chart, flosses and needle, along with that sham. Perfect to grab and go as a travel project. Spring Typo doesn't feature any button embellishments -- but I bet you have a few cute 'homeless things' in your stash that would be really cute on here! Soft pinks, greens and yellow, with touches of blue in the stitching.
Craftlite has a new lamp option -- our favorite Dorset top but with a VERY strong table clamp base and extra-strong goose-neck arm! Same awesome Daylight-balanced lighting system as Craftlite's Dorset, this little guy has a neck reach that is approx 2 inches longer.
Lightweight, lens cover for dust and safety, same clean white color... if you don't have a place for a table lamp -- this might be a great option for you. Same top construction, same bulb, same everything, except that this one features that very strong clamp base!
Dublin Accessories: Clamps and Tray Caddies!
Our favorite Dublin Lamps have a couple of accessories! Yours might (or might not have) come with an *optional table clamp.* (They were included in the boxes for a while... then not... ) Anyway... we have the EXTRA-STRONG table clamps that fit the arm of your Dublin... making it more portable for travel if you need that. The arm of the lamp simply fits into the hole in the clamp... and then clips to your table area.
Totally new is a little tool tray that snaps around your lamp arm. It measures a petite 5 x 6 x 1-1/2 and comes with a small set of dividers to organize your little space! Super-duper handy for scissors, needles and M & M's... it'll work on your Dublin -- (but not the Dorset or Cambridge.) A cute little thing... it'll be easy to load with treasures!
from Rosewood Manor
Karen brings us a sampler that is stuffed full of Quaker-inspired motifs -- with tiny cardinals tucked between them everywhere! Stitched on 28ct -- you might want a dusty winter-y gray color -- she has worked this using Valdani hand-dyed flosses. (no DMC coding) A companion to Spring Quakers, it's a lovely piece that CAN be stitched a little smaller if you don't have time to fit everything in here.
The Valdani threads are pictured on the leaflet cover -- a pretty set of 12 balls -- red, 5 blues and greens, a trio of dusty purples... great, winter colors! Offered as the leaflet with cotton set.
Be sure to see Karen's other new designs!
Mercy Mercy, Peace House, Krissy Nelson and My Little Sampler:
New Releases from La-D-Da
Meadowgrass Biscornu, Dusky Petals Stitching Set and Wild Thyme from Barberry Row
We have just a few patterns for this charming Biscornu... and its companion sewing box cover, needlecase, cushion and fob sets! In the style of English embroidery from the late 1800's, these are mainly Double Locking Backstitch, embellished with surface stitches of Satins, Buttonholes, Eyelets, Three-Sided, Holbein and Wrapped Bars. Lovely, they are worked on 32ct Belfast Linen with #12 perle cotton, floss and hand-dyed silks for the wrapped bars. We have a total of three different patten options for these.
Cat & Mouse and October 31st
from Kathy Barrick
Kathy Barrick is designing again... and has sent these two patterns! Cat & Mouse is really fun, you could stitch it as is and frame it... but wouldn't it make a neat STUFFED free-standing cat with a tiny mouse cushion attached? Stitch count is 102 x 114 -- so not terribly large -- and the chart is coded for either Needlepoint Silk or DMC.
October 31st has quite a bit of scary stuff going on in it. It, too is smallish -- approx 5 x 6 on 32ct -- and coded for silks or DMC. The animals and bats are cute, and the stack of pumpkins is really cool! She has split the oranges in each of the pumpkins -- can you see the color differences? An alternative for you might be to stitch them in a collection of different hand-dyed oranges, bronzes and rusts. Thanks for the cute new designs, Kathy!!!
Quaker Harvest Necessaire from Praiseworthy Stitches
The Praiseworthy Stitches Gals have been busy creating... and this charming little pumpkin box is a cute result!!! It comes as a complete kit of all materials necessary to complete the set... but it might be am assembly challenge for some! 32ct Irish Linen, lots of floss and beautiful fabric pieces included... there is an embellishment bag that has the prettiest green and terra cotta pottery beads and a neat black metal flower piece.
All the lining fabrics are coordinated to your stitching that appears on all 5 of the box sides as well as the bottom and the needlework smalls -- the cushions and fobs. Lots of little pieces, there are templates and instructions everywhere in here... just no pictures! (SO... print my pictures from this description and tuck them away into your kit, until you are ready to stitch and assemble this.) Quite the unusual thing... they made only 200 Limited Edition kits.
The Thread That Binds
from Mosey 'n Me!
*You are the Thread that runs through my life and the stitch that binds my heart.* A Love and Friendship piece by Mosey 'n Me... Frank made Judy a card... and these were his words to her.
Stitch it on anything you like... it's charted for Weeks Dye Works flosses, includes some Herringbone Stitches and finishes approx 7 x 7 on 40ct over 2. Pretty colors, neat fonts, I especially like the creamy floral urn up on the right-hand corner -- hard to see in the pic, but just lovely! Offered as a chart.
Grasshopper Scissors are Back in Stock!
We love these little guys... so unusual and fun... they cute beautifully... and we love the green handles and black blades!
Oh are these the neatest little scissors! 4-1/4 Inches in overall length, bright slime-lime green handles that are SOFT AND FLEXIBLE, and ultra slender, thin black blades meeting at a precise, sharp tip! They are very lightweight, and distinctive looking and feeling -- they remind me of a grasshopper because of their coloring!
Each comes with a small frosted plastic sheath to protect their blades -- it 'snaps' in place over the fastening screw, so these little guys are protected no matter what drawer, purse, tote or cubby in which they are stored!
Jeweled Mag Friends
We have several new jeweled magnet minders from Accoutrement Designs... I thought this 1-1/4 inch bunny and her carrot made a great pair! Just some glitz and glamour for your stitching bag or fridge door... these feature those rare earth super-strong mangets. I picked up a palm tree and is darling! Check them all out...
Needlework Press has taken very traditional sampler motifs, chosen some dusty, faded colors of hand-dyed silks, and added a piece of mangy hand-dyed linen... to stitch this welcoming piece. Forget *Arizona* in there -- she has this charted for all 50 states, as well as Canada, England and France! NOT just the alphabet... all of the states are spelled out in here to make it easy on you!
A really nice housewarming gift... this needs to hang in a foyer, or up the stairs, or what about by the coat-hooks in the back hall? It just really says *Home Sweet Home!* Offered as the chart.
Tenderness of Heart from The Purple Thread
The Purple Thread has several new releases... this pillow is elegant! *There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.* Stitched on R & R 30ct hand-dyed Lace Linen with Gentle Art and Week's cottons, the scattered motifs are worked in special stitches, and tiny what-nots garnish everywhere! Offered as a complete kit -- presented in a lovely brown paper folder -- the kit contains the linen, threads, and backing fabric for your 7 x 7-ish pillow.
The featured (and included) embellishments include a Charland sterling silver heart charm, a mother-of-pearl button, a few tiny clay buttons, twill tape for the corner finishing treatment, silk ribbons, lace and the most STUNNING hand-stitched and wrapped pin-wheel button -- a Dorset button -- from England. The front of the button looks like all is simply wrapped in thread... but on the back you can see that it is actually a very intricate hand-made thing! Just a lovely design, such pretty colors and materials -- its a treat!
Presenting Counting Pins from Puffin & Co
Puffin's favorite little brass, nickel and copper pieces are now in miniature and topping Tapestry needles to make Counting Pins! We have sets of kitties and puppies -- each with a pair of hearts to go with them.
Use your pins to help you count the thread on your fabric, poke them in a favorite pin cushion just to look at.. or use them to pin together bits of ribbons and such for your next project. They would make charming embellishments on the front of a sewing case, too.
4 New Needle Nannies from Puffin & Co
Puffin has introduced 4 new Needle Nannies -- pretty metals that mind your needles and scissors -- and stray notes on the frig! Joining Puffin's huge collection, we have a birdhouse, quilt block, running rabbit and darling little rooster!!!
Each features a rare earth magnet on the back -- SUPER-DUPER strong. Our Nannies frequently *hop* over to visit their other Nanny friends hanging on the hooks next to them!
Oh Christmas Tree
from All Through the Night
Wow... this is a beautiful monochromatic study of a busy, happy Christmas tree!
Stitched on 30ct Weeks Putt linen in only one shade of green hand-dyed, look at all the tiny design details in this 131 x 101 piece! You could work the whole thing in different colors, but this is striking just the way it is.
Cute Spool Ends -- As Needle Minders!
Ok... if you're handy, and you have cool old spools laying around, a saw and strong cement and magnets... you can make these yourself. If you're short on saws and time... just get a few of these!!! Fun 1-inch spool ends -- with cool retro-labels on them -- these are Minders to keep track of stray pins, needles and scissors!
Small *token* gifts, something cute for the inside of a sewing case, good refrigerator magnets, these are very *needle-worky* related!!!!!! Asst labels, we will try not to duplicate if your order contains multiples.
Keeping Promises from Just Another Button Company
By Art to Heart, Just Another Button Company's adaptation from their quilt and fabric applique collection, Noah's ark is brimming with a family of animals amidst the rolling waves! *Love is Keeping Promises* is the verse on this colorful 6-1/2 x 7-1/2 inch piece. Stitched on Week's 30ct Seafoam Linen with 18 different Weeks and Gentle Art hand-dyed threads, the buttons that embellish include a pair of doves and gold fish, along with an owl, turtle and giraffe.
There are a ton of animal buttons on the market... so if you have some others you want to include, there is plenty of room on Noah's Ark to add them! This would make a really cute nursery piece, or birth announcement! Offered as the chart with button embellishments.
Pin Cushion Spool Holder
from Olde Colonial
Oh... we've been waiting for Olde Colonial to start selling these.. it is a wooden stand that showcases a favorite finished pin cushion of yours! The pegs down below can store thread balls, tether scissors, corral your thread winders, hold a thimble, or offer a safe and handy place to prop your small bag of M & M's!!! So... basically, this can be a pretty display stand, or a functional little stitching station!
It measures 5 inches in diameter at the base. It stands 5 inches high, and the display platform for your treasure is 2-1/2 inches in diameter. Just the cutest thing... we perch all sorts of things on ours -- everything looks great displayed on top -- like a yummy cake under a glass dome cakeplate!
Starry Starry Night Part III from Blackberry Lane Designs
Blackberry Lane has finished her trio of Nativity ornaments with this set of designs. The Flight to Egypt is the black and blue silouehette design of the weary travelers -- it companions the other 4 smalls which are all pictured on our BL Pages. His Blessed Son is Mary holding Jesus -- more color that the rest of these -- but the same finished size. Amazing detail in all of Marie Driskill's designs... these are no exception.
A cut of 40ct creme linen is included in the chart pack, as well as one of the small brass pendant frames. Coded for 38 different DMC flosses, she has these charted for the rectangular or oval shape -- all of those DMC's fit into that 48 x 65 bitty area!!!!! Offered as the set of charts, pendant, mounting board and cut of 40ct linen.
My Needlework Necessaries
Hey... this is COOL! It's a very official and organized-looking plastic clip-board and storage box thingie. Measuring approx 9 x 13 x 1, you are seeing the cream-colored clipboard top cover that has the cute needlework motifs in a deep brown at the top and the alphabet letters all down the front. Unclip at the top, and your clipboard slides upwards and out to reveal your storage box underneath for very important things!!!
Use it at your 'real job' or use it to keep your current project organized... or even to store your upcoming year's worth of stitching trip details with your friends! Very cool for us stitchers... forget brown paper from the office big-box store... this is FUN and FUNCTIONAL!
Brenda Gervais has several new releases --
Three Tulips is one of my favorites.
With a stitch count of 132 x 200 it'll finish approx 6-1/2 x 10 on the called-for 40ct Weeks Parchment linen. It could be quite large on 18ct cream -- it would be 15 x 22 and make a huge guest bedroom pillow with some neat ticking and antique lace!
It's a pretty piece stitched with 10 different overdyed flosses, you could even stitch your bunny in Simply Wools from Gentle Art -- and he'd be a little furry! Check out the rest of the releases which are all chart packs. There is a basket that is finished onto a pillow -- real neat.
New Curly Girl Design Kits!!!!
I just LOVE these designs... totally motivational, totally cheerful and upbeat... totally on the mark for a good life! Here we go!!!
Chessie & Me has GREAT new releases -- 6 of them!!!
Always lots of special stitches worked into the scenes -- rather than just stuck in a row running across your piece -- Linda's things have lots of texture and interest because of those stitches. Hills are done with Satins so they 'move' -- sheep have French Knots so they look bumpy.
There is always one-over-one design detail and she has a pretty color sense. All are offered as charts except the Liberty Inn - which is her third annual house kit! Take a peek!
Sleds and More Sleds! from Foxwood Crossings
Christmas is only 10 months away!!!
Oh my gosh... these are the CUTEST little ornaments... you mount your bit of stitching to an actual tiny metal and wood sled!!! Foxwood Crossings has seven small card designs -- each featuring a trio of designs (so we have 21 different designs for these) that measure only 17 x 30 stitches! 14ct Brown or Cream Perforated Paper work best for these (but Aida and 28ct linen will work too -- just not finish as flat.)
Do your quick stitching, trim the paper to fit the sled, back it with a bit of felt or pretty paper if you want... and glue it onto the sled! Each wood and metal sled ornament is nicely made -- not all bent up or rough. The little runners are 4 inches long, the swing handle is another 2. They stand an inch high, and the stitch area is just a mere 1-1/2 x 2-1/2.
So, So CUTE!!!!!!! Talk about different, quick and CHARMING tree ornaments! Offered as the 7 small card charts, the sleds are available separately, and if you are careful a perf paper sheet will do 18 of these! BE CAREFUL TO ORDER ENOUGH SLEDS FOR ALL YOUR ORNAMENTS!
Sled Heads features Santa, Mrs Santa and Rudolph. Snow Grateful has a trio of snowmen. Sledding Friends has a penguin and an Eskimo, and another snowman. Snow Country Sleds features a church, barn and cabin in the woods. Bread Sleds has a gingerbread couple and tiny gingerbread house! (love that name!) Mixed Bag Quilts has three tiny quilt block patterns. Quaker Sleds features three tiny Quaker motifs.
Bigger Sleighs! from Foxwood Crossings
More darling ornaments!!!! On the larger side, Foxwood Crossing has two more designs that fit a sleigh that measures 7 x 3 (the metal) with a bed that is 1-1/2 inches high and measures 2-1/2 x 5-1/2. Acme Snow Mobile is so cute and retro... while RFD Sledding is a traditional country snow play scene.
Both are shown stitched on 14ct perforated paper, trimmed and mounted to the sleighs. Each pattern is offered separately in chart format, so once again... order enough sleighs for your ornaments. Very nicely made, they are very sturdy, the wood is ok... and the black metal smoothly finished... there are even six little screws peeking out on the underneath side holding the planks in place.
These would be cute as doll and candle perches, as well. A sheet of perforated paper should yield three of these, 4 if you space very carefully.
Doll Beds! from Foxwood Crossings
OK... Another charming wood and metal piece... this one is a little bed measuring approx 5 1/2 inches long, 3 inches wide; 'mattress' is one inch high, the footboard is 2-1/2 inches -- the headboard is 3-inches.
SO CUTE... you need to stitch little sheets, pillows and comforters for your little bed! (Get creative with all those Brenda Gervais pieces, or some Blackbird things!!!)
Foxwood Crossings has 2 different charts for these... Needle-Pin Inn includes a blanket poking out from beneath the topping pillow -- makes a darling pin cushion!!! The Floral Wreaths set is more reminiscent of a doll house set. You could use it as a pin cushion as well, you could make a pouch for scissors underneath the top... wouldn't these be pretty with tiny linen pillows trimmed with lace and antique buttons????
Charts are offered separately from the beds -- which, like the sleds and sleighs -- are very nicely made for their price!
A Sampler to Clean Your Glasses!
Wow... this is the coolest little 5-1/2 x 6-1/4 mini Micro-Fiber cloth to clean your eyeglasses, magnifier lens, telephone or e-something thingie, or computer screen! It just so happens to be printed with a stitching image from an antique sampler from 1829! Every stitcher needs at least three of these -- one for your purse, stitching bag and dresser drawer.
Just something little and fun I found, we're offering a Baker's Dozen on these (13 for the price of 12), because I can think of a million people who would love to have at least one of them!!!
Shepherd's Bush has 8 new releases... here they are! I've tucked some of them on our inside pages so enjoy the browsing!
from Shepherd's Bush
*Joys and Blessings, Faith and Friendship, Love and Gratitude*
Shepherd's Bush has a new sampler that is really more like a trio of small pastoral scenes than rows and rows of stitches and alphabets. Finishing approx 8 x 15 on 32ct hand-dyed Sea Salt linen, this is stitched in 20 different shades of hand-dyed silks -- and is mainly worked in Cross Stitch. There are small areas of Tall Cross Stripe, Satins, Darning and Herringbone... but mostly regular crosses. The silk colors are luscious -- you can see all the pretty greens in the rolling hills, and the lavenders in the Darning sections between the scenes.
A very quaint and classic Shepherd's Bush feel to this piece, stitch it as one, or break it up into sections. Offered as the complete kit, there is so much silk in here... I bet it actually weighs something on our shipping scale! Lovely! Tina and Teri present Peace and Plenty and their Harmony Fob as companions to this sampler.
Peace & Plenty Pin Cushion
from Shepherd's Bush
Another of Tina and Terri's small pin cushion designs, this one features a rose-tendril border surrounding the skinny house and floral basket. Stitched on 32ct hand-dyed Sea Salt linen (matches the Gratitude Sampler), this one is stitched on cotton hand-dyed flosses rather than silks. The threads are yummy roses and greens... embellishments include a smattering of tiny flower buttons and a multitude of matte black glass beads to work the soft, antiqued rose rouched ribbon edge treatment.
These always finish approx 3 x 3... and are wonderful when filled with crushed walnut shells or plastic pellets. Use something with a bit of weight... it makes the soft linen even more soft and old feeling. Complete kit of chart, linen, ribbon, beads, and flosses. Cute!
The Four Seasons Sampler from Jeannette Douglas
Jeannette has a beautiful set of seasonal samplers that she has presented as one large piece. Finishing a mere 7 x 11-1/2 on 32ct -- she's packed a TON of fun design detail and ANOTHER TON of specialty stitches in this. Each sampler is the same size, all surrounded by a Brick Stitch border whose colors change with the Seasons. So many tiny stitch details in each piece, the stitch diagrams just make my fingers ITCH to stitch. The only thing cooler are all the threads.
The entire back leaflet cover is the thread guide -- 47 different hand-dyed silks and metallics, 8 different bead colors and tiny brass charms to embellish each sampler. Even though the thread pack is expensive... it really isn't, considering the alternative is hunting down whole skeins of all these gorgeous and hard-to-find threads. So, so pretty... this entire design is a treat! Stitch each component individually or together.
New Arrivals by JBW Designs
Judy has been busy with more tiny animals and this time, an umbrella in her Country French style. Petite designs... choose one color of your favorite hand-dyed thread for each. The poodle and umbrella are stitched on the Fabric Flair printed fabric that is a light beige with white polka dots -- so slight -- you might have missed that in the pics.
Alphabet Hearts is larger -- it finishes approx 3 x 14 on 32ct Neutral Parisian Stripe fabric that is actually a printed stripe of beige and white. A selection of 6 pink and green overdyeds in this one... it is charming! Home at Last is a long-requested re-release. It has been retired for several years, but no longer! Just a nice collection of small designs, we have to get our hands on the new fabrics featured!
Viktor & Irina
from Plum Street Samplers
Plum Street is at it again with another of her CHARMING little animal scenes surrounded by Quaker-inspired florals. Remember Boris & Olga and Halloweenies? Here is another just like those! *Peace I Leave With You* is the verse... the Lion and Lamb delivering it... with a little bitty angel flying around up in there.
Neat colors, and just like the others SUCH an endearing little scene of personality! Offered as a chart.
Favorite Needle Threaders
Back in stock after many years... this threader has been the favorite for 'just-forever!' Formerly known as a *Muriel*... (named after the lady that designed then, I believe) you just found a new best friend! Muriel passed away several years ago, I remember something about the family not continuing with her product... we 'lost track' of them for several years... and found them again!
Just a flat, thin, lightweight metal needle threader, perfect for thick and thin threads, the hole in the center allows you to teather your *Muriel* to anything else to keep track of her! Measuring just 3/4 x 1-3/4 of an inch... paper thin... this little baby fits anywhere and is a great help. Don't know if it is because it is solid and the holes to thread your thread through are so much easier to see than wire threaders, or the fact that there is NOTHING to break on these that make them so good, they have just always been the *Go To* Threader!
There's even MORE!
