Jeannette Douglas Designs : The Silver Needle, Fine Needlecraft Materials


You're in for a treat with this collection of intricate and detailed designs! Stuffed full of special textured stitches, cute charms and beads, and lots of overdyed silks and special threads, each one of these is charming, and fun to stitch. They all deal with things we creative people love to do... stitching, quilting, knitting, and gardening! Everything is offered in leaflet format, with a nice pic on the cover. Thread and embellishment packages are available individually for some... but we have combined most of them so that you're able to stitch the designs in all the pretty colors of thread Jeannette calls for! Very clear charts, excellent stitch diagrams... these are a treat! Something to keep in mind with these... the stitches are so neat... you could 'pull out' so many of these motif blocks from any of the pieces... and stitch miniature ornaments... silk gauze things... fun little fobs... just so many things!
Spring Quaker Pincushions We have a set of three Limited Edition Quaker Biscornu kits that are petite and precious! Jeannette has a classic Quaker star motif charted for you, and provides three different colorways to stitch it! Stitched on 32ct linen, the blue cushion is worked in Simply Wools of Summer Meadow and Summer Shower, with a Dove Blue Week's Wool back side. The mustard one has the same blues, plus a bit of Citronella wool, while the pink one has Cinnabar and Kudzu wool and Faded Roses and Red Grape Simply Wool. The colors in all three are dreamy and soft... little buttons in them to embellish... a heart pin in the pink, a teeny safety pin and made with love charm on there. (Jeannette bought those from US!) She has kitted up everything for you, all you'll need is a bit of fluff to stuff each mini 2 x 2 cushion. Notice the finishing on the pink one... she glued a stick from her backyard into it... tied a bit of green wool around it for leaves... and stuck it into a spool!
Tag Trios Jeannette Douglas has the CUTEST set of three thingies. Little hang-abouts or pin cushions... each can be finished as a simple little pillow, but are extra charming mounted onto a YUMMY grey-black antiqued mini tag-shaped board. Each of these is stitched on 32ct Natural Linen in dark Raven and Charcoal colors of Simply Wool or Waterlilies silk. They measure approx 2 x 3, because the overall tag boards are only 2-3/4 x 4-1/2. Each tiny cushion design has matte black embellishment beads, or a matte black safety pin -- our black mourning pins are in one, Threads contains three Kelmscott tulip thread rings... and each has 4 miniature matte black brads to attach to the board. These are FULL of cool stuff, and really creative! The black and charcoal color scheme of all is lovely and very classy. Notice the teeny black scissors tucked behind the Scissors one? They are available separately, and a perfect size for this little guy! Each Trio kit is packaged with it's chart, linen, necessary threads and embellishments. Gray finished tags and black scissors are offered separately. TOO DARN CUTE!!!!! (I believe the kits for these are limited in edition. Going forward, we'll be able to get the charts and boards. We carry some of the threads and embellishments -- the black brads come from the scrapbook store. So... if you aren't a hunter and gatherer, just get the kits while we have them!)
Numero What a neat design! Jeannette offers a study of the abbreviation to the word number. (like why???... Because antique stencils of old numbers on linen pillows enchant her. The elegant brass plates of room numbers in old hotels look cool. Numbers printed on old labels and jars and crocks are neat. Get the idea?) So... she has chosen a dreamy, old-fashioned, quiet and elegant color palette of Gentle Art's Simply Wools in Soot, Barn Gray and Roasted Marshmallow, along with Week's Kohl cotton, and stitched her sampler on 28ct Natural Linen. Now... stitch it as is -- it is lovely -- ORRRRR -- choose numbers that are special to you and feature them in these blocks. The leaflet comes with a packet of buttons -- one mother-of-pearl, 4 asst tiny buttons, and that awesome blackened key charm down in the right-hand corner. Use those and add more charms or special buttons from your grandmother's button box... use numbers of birthdates, wedding dates, old house addresses, old safe combinations, the numbers of the winning lottery ticket you bought but then lost... number of children you have... ANY numbers that are significant to you and your family. Jeannette talks about making each into individual pin cushions and nestling them into an old basket! I love all the little borders, all the little sections, and the colors -- just so retro and classic! Take Time to Collect Oh my gosh... this is LOVELY!!!!! Another of Jeannette's Take Time To designs... this one hits home for us needleworkers who collect not only tools and threads, but the patterns to go along with them as well! Take Time to Collect is full of charming miniatures of needlework tools and emery strawberries -- all stitched in the yummiest shades of silks. Reading the color names off the thread pack -- how luscious do these sound? Aged Antiquity -- overdyed creams, Weathered Basket -- gray greens, Pewter, Arctic Ice Light, and then... Mouse Gray!! The colors are light mosses and teals with a sterling key embellishment and matte frosted pewter seed beads. Possibly 20 cross stitches in this entire little 4 x 4 piece... the rest is worked in exquisite specialty stitches! Frame it or make it into a box top or even the front of a sewing case! The Four Seasons Sampler Jeannette has a beautiful set of seasonal samplers that she has presented as one large piece. Finishing a mere 7 x 11-1/2 on 32ct -- she's packed a TON of fun design detail and ANOTHER TON of specialty stitches in this. Each sampler is the same size, all surrounded by a Brick Stitch border whose colors change with the Seasons. So many tiny stitch details in each piece, the stitch diagrams just make my fingers ITCH to stitch. The only thing cooler are all the threads. The entire back leaflet cover is the thread guide -- 47 different hand-dyed silks and metallics, 8 different bead colors and tiny brass charms to embellish each sampler. Even though the thread pack is expensive... it really isn't, considering the alternative is hunting down whole skeins of all these gorgeous and hard-to-find threads. So, so pretty... this entire design is a treat! Stitch each component individually or together.
The Four Seasons Accessories A Pin Wheel Needlebook, Home Scissor Fob and Spring Basket Pincushion, this is a trio of smalls to match your main seasonal sampler. A smaller selection of the same threads is used to make coordinating pieces -- using some of the favorite stitches. This thread packet includes the Merlot, Eggplant and Cinnamon Week's hand-dyed wools that line the needlebook, the Gloriana chenille thread that trims the fob, more beads and charms to embellish, along with all the stitching silks. Pretty pieces even without the main sampler!!! Offered as the leaflet with thread and emb pack separate.
By The Sea Needlekeep Shells, a crab, coral and fat little fish, this is a cute needlekeep that stitches on 35ct and finishes to only 2 x 4-ish when folded closed. Plain 'ole Cross Stitch in very beachy coral and teal shadesof overdyed flosses and wools, the chart includes the threads, a cream and teal cut of wool to line your case, a pearl for the little clam, and a mother-of-pearl fish button. Small and cute, very DO-ABLE! You'll need just about a 9 x 9 cut of any 35ct linen you like! Offered as the kit of chart, threads, wools and embellishments with finishing instructions.
Isle of Hope Sampler -- Ellis Island Steamship tickets in 1892 leading to a new life in the Land of Liberty! This is a 2-3/8 x 19-5/8 piece (on 35ct) that is loaded with design elements that celebrate so many of our ancestors' entry into the US via Ellis Island. Once again, Jeannette has stuffed it full of fun specialty stitches that give her motifs so much extra charm. The quilt is worked in Bargello -- for lots of 'movement', the rug below the seamstress's tape measure is worked with pattern darning -- the same way they repaired socks and stockings back then. (That diagram takes up an entire page of the leaflet!!!) Anyway, a bit of Ellis Island History included... you may want to include some immigration dates on here... and if you have any original paperwork, it always a cool thing to tuck it into an envelope and mount that to the back of your framed piece! Isle of Hope Accessories Here is a set of needlework smalls that could go with your Isle of Hope Sampler -- but really don't have to. Ok... everyone is flipping over the little suitcase on the leaflet cover. Jeannette offers a very endearing little story in here about that little box. You probably can't get one. (It came from Michaels, she cleaned out half of Canada's supply... she painted and antiqued them, her daughter's boyfriend helped with some -- but he's even out of the picture now -- so no suitcases!!!) At any rate, after reading her trials... you'll be able to figure out something perfect for yours. Cute small charts for the various pieces, a few specialty stitches, the thread pack contains all the lovely silks -- Gloriana, Belle Soie, Silk 'n Colors, Bijoux metallic, Needlepoint Inc silks and Splendor along with Vikki Clayton ribbons and chenilles, the Week's wools, cast iron and silver keys, beads and even a black safety pin. Just love it!
Pumpkin Stitches Everyone loves the rusts and deep greens of the Autumn Season, and pumpkins just seem to be the Greeters of the Season! Jeannette's latest in her 6 x 8 series of 'Stitches' designs is just beautiful. Worked on 32ct, the pumpkins are actually Cross Stitch, but nothing else is!!! You get to stitch Satins, Scotch, Milanese and Rhodes -- all members of that Satin Stitch Family -- in the yummiest colors of Belle Soie, Needlepoint Inc, and Gloriana hand-dyed silks. The special stitches seem to go really fast, so you'll love your results. There is a shimmery hand-painted pumpkin charm embellishment, as well as a small smattering of glass beads here and there. Apple Stitches Ohhh... same awesome format as Pumpkin Stitches... this brings Jeannette's offerings in this series to 14!!! (If you check out the back cover of the leaflet, you can see all the rest in the set -- Silver Needle Stitches is the piece she taught for our shop a few years ago!) Anyway, Apple Stitches finishes 6 x 8 on 32ct, Lambswool and is stitched with glorious colors of browns, greens, and rich apple red hand-dyed silks. I'd call these late summer-early fall apple colors -- not the brights of early summer. Again, just a few Cross Stitches, but lots of Satin, Scotch, Oblong, Italian Cross, and Holbein (Blackwork, or Double Running). I don't think you can see them in the pic, but there are tiny white apple blossoms in this that are garnished with a gold bead center. Pretty borders, pretty leaves, even that center apple -- just as it is -- would be neat on its own. Offered as the leaflet with threads separately.

Garden Secrets - Autumn Set Remember Jeannette Douglas's set of 9 small card designs that are Summer Garden designs??? Here are 9 more -- Autumn in theme -- that are all in one leaflet instead of 9 smaller ones! Petite things... each 35 x 35 stitch count square is stuffed with specialty stitches and worked in tons of different overdyed cottons. 'One Acorn, Three Poppies, Seven Pomegranates, Ten Blueberries'...'Nine Pumpkins, and One Crow' you should get the idea. Offered as a leaflet of the nine small charts, Jeannette includes all the details to make the earthy quilt featured in the cover pic. We have her thread packs available with the lengths of cottons -- she uses a ton of them (36 different colors), so if your stash doesn't boast lots of the Gentle Art and Crescents -- it may be the way to go. What a pretty collection! You can mix these with the summer designs and make a larger quilt! (Of course, when you click on the image at right and see the larger version, you see that any of these individual designs... in fact, all of them... will also stand very well on their own.) Strawberry Stitches What a delicious confection of stitched perfection!!! Jeannette Douglas brings us her 10th design in her Stitches Series. Stuffed full of specialty stitches and beautiful hand-dyed silks and metallics... every one of her Stitches designs is over-the-top fun to look at, dream of stitching, and actually work! Like the rest, Strawberry Stitches finishes approx 6 x 8 on 32ct, and fits inside one of Olde Colonial's Medium Dowry Boxes -- a lovely way to preserve your heirloom stitchery. Strawberries is stitched with rich, deep reds and mossy greens of Silk 'n Colors, Soie d' Alger, Belle Soie, some Simply Wool and bits of Gloriana silk. Actually very few Cross Stitches in here, there are borders of Basket Weaving and Blackwork. The berries are Queens, Satin and Hungarian stitches. The blossoms have creamy petals with yellow glass bead centers... it's just beautiful. Offered as the leaflet which is packed full of great diagrams and good instruction, with the silk, charm and bead accessory pack available separately.
Thistle Stitches Jeannette's 8th design in her set of Stitches Samplers, this is stunning! Stitched on 32ct Lilac Linen in grapes and greens of Gloriana and Belle Soie hand-dyed silks along with a bit of Bijoux antique plum metallic, this 6 x 8 sampler is FULL of specialty stitches and charming thistle motifs. Each corner, border, and thistle features a different textured stitch, even the diagrams tantalize me! There are Fern Stitch variations, Long Arms, Bargello, Satins, some Milanese, cool little Boxed Upright Stars, I just love paging through the instructions! All 8 of these samplers can be framed, but are shown in one of Olde Colonial's Medium Dowry Box of dark (Thistle Stitches) or medium brown burled wood. A really nice display alternative to framing.
Pineapple Stitches The sixth in Jeannette's Stitches Series of designs... this joins Seaside, Acorn, Vintage, Pomegranate, and Silver Needle Stitches (remember that Silver Needle Stitches was our class she came and taught in 2007???) This is an elegant set of 6 x 8 pieces that are FULL of specialty threads and stitches. Jeannette's color choices are extremely awesome... each thread pack has something exotic I've never heard of before!!! Pineapple Stitches features butterscotch yellows, caramel golds, deep maple syrups, and touches of soft greens. Stitched entirely in silks and a bit of metallic, it is designed to fit Olde Colonial's Medium Dowry Box... but could be framed, too. A Band Sampler at heart... each piece features lovely borders, and those awesome thread! Offered as the leaflet with thread packet.
Vintage Stitches All grap-y and leaf-y... this is a gorgeous piece that is full of luscious, deep purples and raisins... reaching all the way into bright chartreuse-y greens! The second of Jeannette's 3 newly released samplers that are all a 6 x 8 size, Vintage Stitches puts you right in the middle of a vineyard! (I picture myself in a vineyard in the South of France!) It is stuffed full of Milanese, Satin, Ray, Hungarian, Rhodes, Smrynas and Algerian Stitches -- SO MUCH texture and detail in here. We are treated to another thread pack that includes that 'Who's Who' listing of designer silks, metallics and wools. 25 Different threads in this piece, it also includes a handpainted grape cluster charm, some beads, and even little clay buttons! What a fun way to try all the pretty threads, doing all the fun stitches! Acorn Stitches Sampler The third new piece by Jeannette Douglas, Acorn Stitches is full of eggplant and Tuscan golds, with touches of moss green and antiqued gold metallic. Finishing the 6 x 8 size... it features lots of Rhodes, Mosaic, 4-Sided, Knitting, Byzantine, Couching, Double Running, Satins, Hungarians and Padded Stitches... all to accent the tiny Fall leaves and acorns scattered everywhere! The threads -- 17 different ones -- include solid and hand-dyed Soie d'Alger and Silk 'n Colors, Silken Chenille, Trebizond, Bijoux and Kreink Metallic and Glorianna's Luminescense. The center features a handpainted acorn button, as well. Simply exquisite... I love all the colors and feel of the threads, and the textures an play of light the special stitches offer! Thistle Lavender Bag and Accessories Here are tiny treats to place beside or into its matching Thistle Stitches Sampler Box! Companion Smalls to Jeannette's previously released Thistle Stitches, think my favorite piece of this collection is that stacked pin cushion. All is stitched on 32ct Lilac Belfast linen in the most lovely shades of Aubergine, Mauve, Creme de Menthe, Iris, and Victorian Gardens Gloriana and Belle Soie Silks, with a hint of antiqued purple Bijioux metallic. The thread pack contains the organza ribbon that ties the stacked cushions together, as well as the Week's wool felt for the tiny stand-up cushion, and glass seed beads. Sweet Tulip Just a wisp of a design, this tiny tulip piece stitches in a jiff on 32ct Antique Ivory Linen, and fits into one of Olde Colonial's BITTY frames! Scotch Stitches and Algerian Eyes in 9 different hand-dyed floss shades, this finishes a mere 1-1/2 x 2-1/2! Offered as the chart with the flosses... and it's only $8.00!!!
Bee Stitches Bees, beeskeps and honeycomb, this is worked with the yummiest colors of Burnished and Victorian Golds, a bit of Gilded Lavender, and medley of olive green hand-dyed silks. Lots of Satin Stitches and pulled Straight Stitches, there are lavender beads scattered in the honeycomb and the special guest is a hand-painted gold and white bumblebee charm. Jeannette's ninth in her Stitches Series of designs... these all finish the same size, and all include the most mouthwatering selections of hand-dyed silks, cottons and metallics in their palettes. Hardly any Cross Stitches in these at all, all of them are full of fun specialty stitches that show off the pretty threads. Three Pines Sampler and Accessories This is a neat design -- perfect for a mountain cabin or lakeside retreat -- it just begs to be your home away from home stitching set. (You could even stitch the main sampler as a box top -- and store your smalls inside!) Anyway, Jeannette has designed a charming log cabin complete with moose, bear and geese neighbors; and lots of thistle, pine and water-inspired border bands and motifs. All of it is worked in a million different stitches of Thread Gatherer, Gloriana and Belle Soie silks with touches of metallics and Delica beads. Notice the antiqued golden pine cone charm hanging from the scissor fob? The main Three Pines Sampler finishes approx 6 x 7 on 32ct. (So many colors will work for this!) It's chart looks like so much fun -- it is broken down into 19 different 'parts!' The Accessory set features a sleeve that fits our little 4-inch wooden thread paddle; a needlebook tied with brown silk ribbon, that fob trimmed with the tiny pine cone charm, and a pocket that holds a pine cone thread waxer! Jeannette has added 34 ACTUAL PHOTOS of her finishing processes for all of it, as well!! Vintage Stars and Quaker Pin Cushions What a cool set of designs! Vintage Stars is a medley of repeating motifs reminiscent of antique coverlets. Stitched in plain old Cross Stitch (!) WHAT an opportunity to play with your threads from your stash, and use some of your favorites! Or... choose Jeanette's soft palette of mocha and cocoa, faded brick and denim Needlepoint Inc silk. Decide where you'll display this... and then have fun deciding on those colors. Finishing approx 8 x 9 on 35ct -- that can change too, depending on your fabric! Next... stitch a few matching pin cushions. Jeannette has 3 designs -- and she goes into great detail about choosing dominant color, matching the wools on the back (our Weeks Wool Schnigglet cuts work for that), matching or contrasting the center button -- it's really cool, because you can make them your own. A neat pair of leaflets with lots of creative potential.
Mini Quaker Stitches Dig out a scrap of 32ct Flax Belfast Linen, and your choice of Gentle Art's Simply Wool or regular DMC and get busy! Gloriana's Bellagio hand-dyed silk is included in the small leaflet to stitch this yummy little 2-1/2 x 9 sampler! Finish it into a pin cushion -- filled with crushed walnut shells -- it'll feel dreamy. Originally, Jeannette tells us, these long cushions were used as 'seamrolls' something you used to help iron a seam. Called 'hamrolls' too... they were especially favored for longer hat pins. Our shop model uses the Simply Wool -- such beautiful thread to give this such hand-dyed softness.
Garden Secrets The entire set of nine designs is now all here and together! All finishing approx 2 x 2 on 32ct linen, each small card design features something you'd find in a garden. Stitched with Gentle Art Sampler Threads and Crescent Colours hand-dyeds, there are a few glass bead embellishments here and there as well. Cheerful little designs, each features 2 or 3 special stitches which really stand out in small designs like these tiny samplings! We thought that as they were released, the numbers in the titles would count to nine. That didn't happen... so you have to be extra careful when ordering these to make sure you get all that you need. Needless to say, the title tells you what is in its colorful, miniature garden scene; when you hold your mouse over the images, you will know its title for sure!
My Story and My Storybook Jeannette Douglas has released a pair of charming band samplers... My Story is divided into thirds, and My Storybook features that center panel... only redesigned into a sewing case. My Story is a sampler about YOU. It is a lovely testament to your stitching talents, and features motifs about home, friends and family. I teased Jeannette that MY motifs weren't in here -- like my little Westie doggies -- she laughed and told me I had to get creative! Anyway, lots of 3-1/2 inch bands of specialty stitches, all worked in luscious, dusky teals, raisins and taupe silks and metallics (Thread Gatherer, Gloriana, Threadworx, Needlepoint Inc, and Access Commodities), ... the textures on those little bands are dreamy! My Story finishes approx 6 x 7-3/4 on 32ct, and is offered as the leaflet with delicious thread and embellishment pack. Everything about it is petite and enchanting! My Storybook is the companion sewing case. Featuring the same design on the front cover as the center panel of the main sampler, you get the chart and verse for the back cover of the case and complete finishing/assembly instructions. This measures approx 4 x 7 when finished. Jeannette has chosen quite a collection of fun charms and trinkets (available as an additional option) to hang from her bookmark cording that runs inside the case. Royalty ABC & Royalty ABC Accessories Jeannette Douglas has released several new designs; the Royalty ABC set features a long, narrow band sampler stuffed full of specialty stitches, a smaller 2 x 4 box-top-take out design, a 2 x 3 needle case, 2 x 4 scissor case, and tiny 1-inch scissor fob. All is presented in a pair of leaflets, and a pair of corresponding silk/embellishment thread packs just the most delicious things to look at! The main sampler measures approx 2-1/4 x 21-3/4 on 32ct Light Mocha Belfast Linen -- a fat quarter will be enough material to stitch all parts. It is stitched with splendor, Needlepoint Inc, Bijoux and Gloriana Silks, and I don't think there is a single Cross Stitch in it, except for the lettering! I LOVE to stitch this kind of thing, because each row is only 2 INCHES wide... so everything changes all the time! You can frame your lovely sampler, OR roll it up, and put it to sleep inside the 4 x 6 Olde Colonial Burled Wood Royalty Box, made just for it! Offered in both light and dark finish... light is pictured. Jeannette mentions that there is spare room inside the box for the needle and scissor cases to keep the rolled sampler company! Colors are luscious -- honey-browns, dusty denims, rich moss greens, dark brick, and a dusky lavender... the thread/embellishment packs contain all the silks, silk ribbons, bead, pearl and fillagree medallion trims for all, even the little spool-trimmed wooden hanging dowels! (I think you need to purchase the silk dupioni lining fabric for the box lid and back of rolled sampler.) A lovely, classy set of designs, with or without the little box, it's quite stunning!
Mini Acorn, Pom & Pear, Silver Needle and Pineapple Stitches! Jeannette has taken three of her larger Stitches series samplers, and designed smaller coordinating band samplers to go with them!!! Offered in 5 x 9 card format, each 2 x 5-ish sampler is stitched on a 32ct linen with DMC flosses from your stash. The charts all come WITH the matching hand-dyed Gloriana silk that ties everything together, and adds so much flavor!!! Loaded FULL of neat, specialty stitches, each is of these is so charming. Acorns is full of autumnal color, has a cool 'knitting stitch' in the acorns, and a tiny brass acorn charm. Kind Friend Gift Bag Well, this is the neatest presentation for a small gift to a special friend! Stitch the pretty little 2 x 3 sampler on 32ct Flax linen with the flosses and perles provided in the kit, and embellish with beads -- also included. THEN, cut apart the bit of lace that is also included to get your lace medallion for the bottom area. All the Gift Bag kits are coming with different bits of lace in them.. so all those bottom medallions vary! Quaker Stitches Jeannette's eighth design in her Stitches Sampler Series... Quaker Stitches measures 6 x 8 -- the same size as all the rest in the set, and features specialty stitches. The thread pack contains the hand-dyed silks in deep honey-browns, a soft denim blue, brick red, muddy olive greens and a taupe to stitch the colored version. If you want to stitch the mono-chromatic... you will need a couple of skeins of a favorite color of yours. Stitch it in just plain Cross Stitches - or use the fancy stitch versions! Take Time For Friends Well.... THIS is a title that offers some of the best advice in the world!!! Jeannette Douglas has released a lovely new design dedicated to friends everywhere. Measuring a mere 66 stitches square (this is a FINISHABLE size!) your friendship sampler is stuffed full of Quilt Medallions, Rice, Queen and Twill Stitches, and Bargello. There are initial squares in the corners... that short path between your two houses... and a tiny double heart charm. Awesome silks in the thread packet of butterscotch, denims, mosses and deep pomegranate, the elegance and texture of the stitches are really showcased in each of their tiny border sections. Summer & Winter Biscornu Stackers The companions to Jeannette's Spring and Autumn Stackers, these are charming additions to the collection! Summer's Stackers are worked with DMC shades of 223, 224, 676, 927 3011 and 3781... accented with Gloriana hand dyed silk. Winter is done with Sampler Threads Old Blue Paint, DMC 642, white and opalescent filament. Just stunning little things, each is stitched on 32ct Lambswool linen, and is two sided. After you put them together, stack them and tie with a pretty ribbon. Now that we have the entire set, one chunk of linen will work... IF you're frugal (and place these something like an inch apart!) you can get all on a fat quarter. If you're wanting a little more fabric leeway, choose a half yard. Once Upon a Tree Jeannette has a new sampler... a craggy tree bursting with colors of each of its seasons! Winter's tree features icy-blue snowflakes garnished with beads. Spring's tree has gigantic pink tulips as it's leaves, along with robins and rabbits! Summer's tree has bumblebees around, and lots of Queen-stitched flowers while Autumn's tree is brimming with acorns and quilt motifs. Friendship Sweet Bag What a fun set of smalls... Jeannette has designed a Sweet Bag of sorts -- much less stitching than the Elizabethan ones of old! A 'Gift Bag' for stitchers, this holds an emery needle cushion (1-3/8 x 2-7/8), bottle cap pin cushion (only 7/8 an inch in size!), and coin scissor fob (only 12 x 12 stitches!!!.) Offered as the leaflet with thread and embellishment packet, Jeannette has included a Canadian quarter in there... it's the stuffer inside the fob! Sweet Bags used to be given as gifts... and usually there were gold coins inside! So... you're supposed to add your own country's currency to the fob, as well. Seaside Stitches Accessories Jeannette Douglas has a new set of stitching 'smalls' that coordinate with her Seaside Stitches design! Even if you don't have the larger piece, this set of 4 accessories is CHARMING all by themselves! The Mermaid Pin Keep features Accentuate metallics and micro buttons. The Seahorse Scissor Fob is stitched with Lorikeet wool, features fresh water pearl embellishments, and a hand painted starfish charm. Satin stitches around the border, a row of Hungarian, and some Bead Cup stitched leaves, it is stitched in your choice of YUMMY hand-dyed silks of golden and lavenders AND/OR the same butterscotch golds and teal blues; the thread packet contains BOTH colorways! The words 'take time to scrapbook' are stitched on here... but you could change 'scrapbook' to 'family'... because of the little photograph -- of your choosing -- that you get to attach in the lower right-hand corner. Pineapple Biscornus and Scissor Fob A charming companion to the Pineapple Stitches Sampler... this is an AWESOME set of designs!!! The same basic color palette as the Pineapple Stitches... this set uses a few different threads, some LOVELY glass beads, and some dinky buttons to grace the corners, edges, centers, and bottoms!!! Offered as a leaflet with complete thread packet, the biscornu finishes approx 4-1/2 inches. Then, tie the little one on top -- it is approx 3 x 3. (I have never seen them stacked like this... it is SUCH A FUN application!!!!!) Next, the little fob is only 2 x 2. It is flat... and you can see it on the cover of the publication. Pomegranate & Pear Stitches One of 4 new pieces by Jeannette Douglas, this is an exquisite piece; filled with specialty stitches as well as lovely pomegranates and pears. Silver Needle Stitches You might recognize this pretty piece... it's the one Jeannette designed for her appearance and class at The Silver Needle last summer!!! A companion piece to Pomegranate & Pears, Seaside, Acorn and Vintage Stitches... of course, this is one of my favorite new things!!! 'Scissors like satin oh so fine, a silver needle so divine, a silken thread so sublime, make for heavenly stitching time.' The Bay State Sampler Wow... what a charming tribute to the state of Massachusetts! Another in Jeannette Douglas's American Journey Series of samplers (Sunshine State, East Coast Sampler, Northwoods and New York/New Jersey), she designed and taught this piece for Stitcher's Hideaway in MA. Unbelievable in detail... the pages of the leaflet are full of history and trivia tidbits, all describing why motifs are in here... she even has website links included so you can read MORE history about Paul Revere! The Mohawk Trail, the Freedom Trail starting at Boston Common, the Old North Church and witchcraft, seafood and lighthouses... this is so much fun to page through! The sampler finishes approx 5 x 12-1/2 on 32ct, and is stitched in an assortment of rich chestnut browns, mossy greens, brick and creams and golds... mostly overdyed flosses... but bits of Gloriana and Caron Waterlilies hand-dyed silk. Seaside Stitches One of three stunning new pieces by Jeannette Douglas... Seaside Stitches is full of special stitches, intricate motifs and stitch details, and special threads! Stitched on 32ct Meadow Mist Belfast Linen in 29 different silks, hand-dyeds, metallics and a wool, the thread pack listing is a miniature 'Who's Who' in the world of threads!!! The piece finishes approx 6 x 8 and is shown on the leaflet cover in one of Olde Colonial's exquisite Birdseye Maple Dowry boxes. I can't tell what is my favorite part in all of this... there is a handpainted crab charm, lots of mermaids (with metallic tails), seashells and anchor motifs all stitched over one thread, the ship in the center has chain stitches around it... like a miniature rope. We Stitch, We Share, We Create This is a charming design for a 3 x 9 tri-fold needle and scissor case. The verse reads: We share, spending countless hours on stitching that we love. A blessing to create for all to share thereof. Stitched in 11 different silks of rusts, golds, sea green, purples and teals, the front is a tiny spot-motif sampler full of special stitches, while the back is a tiny band sampler -- rows and rows of stitches. Lots of Queens, Eyelets, Rice, Scotch and Rhodes, this is a pretty little case. Olde Colonial Medium-Sized Dowry Boxes for Jeannette Douglas's Stitches Sampler Series These beautiful boxes have been made to fit Jeannette Douglas's series of Stitches Samplers. Handmade by Olde Colonial, the boxes are available in the Birdseye Maple -- a rich reddish brown finish, or a smoother, darker brown finish. Overall measurements are 9 x 11 x 3, with a top opening of approx 8-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches. Just lovely, this box is the smaller version of the box featured in My Stitching Treasures.
Autumn Stitches Jeannette's 4th in her seasonal set of pieces... the colors of this one are just incredible! Measuring approx 3 x 3 on 40ct, or almost 5 x 5 on 28ct, you get to execute lots of long-arm stitches and satins. Although the colors on the leaflet front look pink and bright blue, the colors are actually cinnamons, butterscotch, dusky teal blue, terra cotta, browns and antiqued gold metallic. Each tiny motif is worked in a different stitch... each section is a perfect 'take-out!' Offered as a leaflet with the necessary silks and brass acorn charm, the other three are still offered if you want the complete seasonal set... or you can just choose one or two! Very pretty!
Spring and Summer Stitches Jeannette's two newest 'Stitches' designs, each of these is a miniature confection of wonderful specialty stitches all tucked into a 3-inch square!!! Patterns call for a 40ct linen, so if you aren't that brave, your pieces could turn out a larger 5 x 5-ish on 28ct! Joining Winter Stitches, Jeannette brings us fun, miniature motifs for each season, luscious silks to stitch them, and so many neat and unique specialty stitches that give each piece lots of texture and real interest. Offered as leaflets with the silks and charm embellishments (Spring has an umbrella, and Summer features a bug), the stitch diagrams are nicely done, and there is a lot of variety. Summer has lots of blues and greens, Spring uses lots of lavenders and light blues. So much detail in such a tiny space... this kind of thing is always fun to stitch, because you get to do so many different little blocks of things, in cool stitches... in not too much time!!!
Bug Collector This is a fun little piece published in 2002! It's a band sampler full of colorful bugs and wonderful, textured specialty stitches. Ladybugs, ants, butterflies, bees and dragonflies, it comes with all the overdyeds and two little clay bug buttons! The Sunshine State Sampler Flamingoes, sailboats, palm trees, orchid and orange blossoms, hibiscus and flip-flops, crabs and fish... the only thing missing from this delightful tropical sampler is the margarita drink in the pineapple -- complete with the little paper umbrella!!! What a fun thing to stitch to remember a vacation, or to put in your sun-room, or your house in the Bahamas!!! Winter Stitches A charming mini-sampling of wintry color... this 3 x 3 piece (stitched on 40ct!), is full of special stitches and lots of texture. Northwoods Sampler This is the first in Jeannette's series of American Journey Samplers! It's depicting special highlights of Minnesota, North Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin -- the flora and fauna -- all presented in band sampler format. The thread and embellishment packet that is included is full of wonderful russets, teals, greens and lake blues of silks, overdyeds and metallics. The special stitches highlight the textures in all the flowers and animals. This is one of those pieces that keeps your interest, because you discover new details every time you look at it! The charms include a moose and a deer, and there are even stitched mosquitoes -- rumored to be the state bird of Wisconsin!!! The tiny cabin in the woods, the canoe paddles, the pine trees, this is just so much fun! Finishing approx 12 x 4 on 32ct, the colors are luscious teals and sea blues, greens and rusts... just picture seaside colors and falling leaves! The thread pack is full of overdyeds, and Gloriana silks, and the little charms. Just so creative and pretty, the leaflets are even fun to page through to read! My Stitching Treasures What a beautiful needlework piece! Definitely an heirloom... you NEED this! Presented in a four-color folder, this design is charted and diagrammed on 14 pages. It's stuffed FULL of charm, color and cool special stitches!!! Take Time to Stitch Too! One of 8 incredible miniature works of stitching art... Take Time to Stitch Too, the newest from Jeannette Douglas Designs, joins seven other 5 x 5 designs that are stuffed full of special stitches, overdyed silks, beads and tiny charms! Offered as a leaflet, it features a large, clear chart, and great stitch diagrams. Stitched on your choice of Flax Linen counts... the 28 finishes approx 5 x 5, while the 40ct finishes 3-1/2 x 3-1/2... and fits a bit tightly into the new Olde Colonial Easel Back Horizontal Desk Clock. (approx 5 x 9, it includes the works, hands, and features a 3-1/4 inch opening for stitching!) Threads used include Needle Necessities and Weeks overdyed flosses, and the little charm is a brass snail. Jeannette suggests stitching the sectional lines first, then filling in with all the stitches. You can even change that little verse, if you'd like. Luscious browns, golds, burgundy and grey-blue... really quite pretty!
Take Time to Stitch A companion design of Jeannette Douglas's in the 'Take Time' set... this is worked in luscious shades of creme, gold, soft moss greens, and light browns. Absolutely delicious, the threads used are: Silk 'n Colors, Needle Necessities (Jungle Boogie!) floss, and six different shades of Au Ver A Soie silk. There is also a tiny pair of brass scissors featured as the charm. Lots of stitches in this one.. some of them are: Jessica, Tied Windmill, Fanvaulting, Amadeus Tree, Norwich ... not your plain, old run-of-the-mill stuff!!! So pretty, this is offered as the leaflet with threads and charm. On 28ct it finishes approx 5 x 5, but any count of linen will do nicely! You'll need to use Mill Hill petite beads from your stash.
Take Time to Knit This is an awesome little piece, perfect for a special knitter in your life!!! The same 5 x 5 sampler format, this is STUFFED FULL of details and cool stitches! The miniature 'knitted afghan' in the top right-hand corner is the showpiece of your stitching. It is actually woven on there... and it looks just like knitting! There is so much texture and detail in this design, it's one of my favorites in the set! The 13 different threads featured include Rainbow Tweed for the sheep, Gloriana overdyed silks, and Needlepoint Inc silks. The charms include a tiny clay sheep from Just Another Button Company, and a darling set of miniature sterling silver mittens!!! Wonderful mauves, dusty blues and greens... the stitch diagrams are just a treat for the eyes!!!
Take Time to Garden Pretty springtime colors of soft greens, buttermilk, creme and periwinkle blue... this features a miniature shovel charm! The featured threads, Moss, Periwinkle and Redwood Waterlilies are accented with Old Lace Silk 'n colors, coordinating Needle Necessities overdyed floss and 4 Au Ver A Soie silks of yellow, greens and brown. Mill Hill beads needed are 42036 Bayleaf, and 42012 Royal Plum. I just love how she's put different stitches together to create all these little details! The finial in box #7 is a tiny work of art! There is an urn in here, an arbor, all sorts of small garden-y surprises!!!
The Take Time to Quilt Series! The next four designs to follow are quilts celebrating the 4 seasons. Each is the same size -- the 5 x 5 on a 28ct... but any count will be fine! Each of the four seasons features different threads and there are NO duplicated special stitches between them!!! Just awesome... the stitches just make the motifs POP out at you!!!
Take Time to Quilt -- Spring Features soft roses, moss greens, creme and a touch of soft blue. Threads included are Dried Roses Silk 'n Colors, and 9 matching Au Ver a Soie silks. The featured charm is a tiny brass stork scissor. Stitches include a Pinwheel, and entire area of a combination stitched quilt, Flower Heads, Sutherland Hearts, Cross Over Milanese... and quite a few others. The motif in the top right corner is made up of Rhodes, Half Diamond, Sprat's Head, and Vandyke! Totally Awesome!

Plum Honey Silk 'n colors is the main color, and the thread pack includes it, along with 9 matching Au Ver A Soie silks of green, gold, brown and purples. Again, quite a plethora of cool stitches that add so much to the design! The roof on the cottage is done in Hungarian, and features outlined shingles!!!
Take Time to Quilt -- Autumn The colors of Autumn just seem to draw me... and this design is simply striking!!! Stitched in Autumn Twilight Silk 'n colors, with 7 matching Au Ver A Soie silks of peach, rose, burgundy, and purples, Kreinik Cinnamon Vintage #4 Braid, and some lilac and plum Mill Hill beads, the featured embellishment is a tiny sewing machine! Deep green, rusts, and browns into light cinnamons... the back of the leaflet is, again, stuffed full of special stitches for those cool colors!!! I think what makes the stitches even neater, is the fact that JD combines so many of them to create the miniature quilt blocks and borders. Each section of all of these samplers are miniature works of art by themselves!
Take Time to Quilt -- Winter Oh gosh... the pine trees stitched in the rich hand-dyed deep green silks, all the Double Rices, miniature quilt block motifs in here... just everything... will make your stitching fingers ITCH!!! I think the only regular x's in here are the dividing lines between the blocks of snowflakes, poinsettias, cottage and quilt designs. The threads include Winter Woods and Olive Green Gloriana Silks, along with 7 matching Au Ver A Soie colors of rose, cream, brown and green. There is a bitty brass snowflake charm, too. Sable and Champagne Mill Hill beads round out the yummy colors!
