Bunny Boards & Bitty Bunnies!
Does your stitching basket or sewing case need a palette to hold a current project's thread collection? This simple rabbit outline, decorated with just a few 'scribbles' of definition is immediately recognizable as a cute bunny that would look great peeking out from a sewing case pocket! 5 Inches in height, and almost 3 inches in width, there are 10 numbered holes on her to attach working threads (or the leftovers from that special project that you store inside it's finished pocket.)

The Bitty Bunnies are an exact duplication in shape, but they measure a mere 2-3/8 x 1-1/4 inches. They include a (removable) clam-shell clip so you can attach them to scissors, a zipper pull on your tote bag, keys, just anywhere. Theresa V from Shakespeare's Peddler dreamed up a cute little stitching sampler for us that was a bonus surprise at our 2011 Summer Stitching event! Exclusive to our shop, it's a slight thing -- approx 5 x 5 in size. Featuring 4 colors of Gentle Art Sampler Threads that are limited in edition -- none of the threads have joined that regular line -- so it's kind of fun the have them 'secretly!'

'A Silver Needle and Thread so fair'... is the verse, and there's plenty of room for you to add or sub some of your favorite stitching motifs in here. Offered as the chart, cut of 32ct Natural Linen, 4 complete GAST skeins and one DMC.

Miniature Scissor Blocks
OHhhh... we have the cutest miniature scissor blocks! Made from assorted woods, these little 1-1/2 x 2 x 2-3/4 chunks feature a slanted top, complete with ruler slot. Along with that slot, notice the larger hole near the top? That holds a pair of 3-1/2 to 4-inch embroidery scissors. Then, notice the two smaller holes? They store needles. Each of them as a tiny magnet in their bottom -- just enough to make your needles *cling* so if the block get knocked over, no needles errantly spill to the floor.

Not big, not heavy, just functional and cute! The slit can hold a small pattern, or one of our rulers or paddles that double as thread organizers. If you order multiples, we'll try to mix up your woods, but try to match ruler and organizer woods to blocks. All of these are just the coolest things!

*Needlework soothes the soul and inspires the mind* is the advice offered on one side of these 4-inch thread organizers... while *The Silver Needle* is the other advice for good living on the other side! Measuring 1-1/2 inches x 4-1/2... your calibrated ruler includes 5 holes to loop threads for works in progress.

It slips into the slot of our miniature scissor block, so even if you have no threads looped on it, the ruler is still there... and it's stored neatly in your block. Pretty Handy!

Even a smaller version of our 4-inch ruler... this is a 3-inch ruler, delivered in a hornbook-style shape. (A Paddle.) Each piece features 9 different holes to loop threads from a work in progress, and is personalized with Silver Needle's logo (which I am personally very attached to!)

Scream House, Our Exclusive Limited Edition Needlework Etui
Nan's very own words of warning...
'Deep in the shadows of Happy Hag Hollow, just as the leaves begin to fall and frost nips at the pumpkins... the Scream House comes alive! Ghosts float out the Halloween decorations, jack-o-lanterns try out their goofy grimaces, and the monsters and ghouls practice scaring each other. Hisses and moans, shrieks and groans fill the night air. Crows, bats, cats and spiders gather to watch the antics while the resident witch, Netty Nightshade, oversees it from her lovely purple rooms... Stitch it (if you dare) using the *bright and poisonous* colors of Halloween. Assemble it with care, stash your scissors, needles and pins inside, then crown the roof spires with a bat-crossed Halloween moon!!!'

Oh, where should I begin describing this delightful creation... everywhere I look there is something fun and colorful going on! Simply the COOLEST stitching box... you'll fall in love with it! Nan's leaflet cover is stunning... click this PDF to get the color print of all her pics... you'll love what flies out of your printer!!!

I'm not going to describe all the wonderful foolishness taking place on each panel... Nan's memoirs will tell all, and I don't want to give it all away ahead of time. I will tell you, though, that one of my personally favorite parts is the backyard scene. Nan tells us that Netty's ancestor, Ida Mae Gone is buried beneath the tree. Well... the gravestone reads 'I M GONE!' And, did you see Netty's little broom parked outside the front door? And did you notice the spider web curtains??? Our pics show all the sides of Scream House, and you can see how it opens. My hands are there to give you some scale.

THE BASICS: Each side is stitched individually (piece layout diagrams provided), and mounted around a stiff board. The roof pieces are joined to the walls, then all are attached to the base. The removable 2 x 2-1/2 inch pumpkin pin cushion is made, then snapped into place. (you'll have a great pattern to re-use to make more of these!!!) The wool hat needle page is blanket stitched in place, and the green scissor sheath (matches the pumpkin stems!) can be made to *fit* scissors (see notes further on) you may want Boolah and Foolah to hold for you. The house is held closed by the wire roof spires cinched into the Visions Charm, and a bit of twisted cord.

We are showing Scream House with our SN10A Dovo Black Teflon finish scissors that Nan fit into her stitched model. Other scissor options would be the Dovo Preemies 21B, or the regular Preemies SN33A. The Autumn Lustre (SN38A) would be lovely. You might be OK with the purple SN41A, as they are 3-1/2 -- the recommended size. Other scissors that will NOT work are the Kelmscott Putford (SN55) style, because they are as wide as the house, the Uncommon Witch pair -- way too big. (just an FYI.)

You'll notice the black pins in the pumpkins. Those are really cool Victorian Mourning Pins!!! When a woman was in mourning, she couldn't wear or display anything bright or flashy -- even shiny pins keeping her clothing together!!! The package reads that these are 'Fine French Black Mourning Pins. Nonreflective, discreet and utilitarian.' Well... they are PERFECT in Netty's furniture!!! They, along with the scissors are NOT included in your Scream House kit, but we do have them -- box of 150 pins for $6.50.

Each Scream House kit contains Nan's color leaflet, the 12-page stitch guide with all 18 charts, 2 linen layouts, and 2 assembly guides. Remember: we have a printable PDF of that leaflet cover, because the pictures are so *awesome* on there!!! 4 Black cloth-covered wires, custom Vision Moon charm, striped pumpkin beads, needle, Just Nan Spider Bead (he's on the roof -- I guess Netty doesn't believe in exterminators!!!), and a floss listing. Stitched in DMC and Weeks hand-dyeds, we are including 3 skeins of DMC black floss (you'll need almost that much between the stitching and finishing, and we wanted your dye lots to match), and 1 ball of #12 black Perle Cotton. Complete finishing instructions, with the hand-dyed wools, actual sized templates, and all materials needed for box construction are complimented with Pam's wonderful step-by-step photographs of the original Scream House IN assembly!!! NOT included are scissors to store in Scream House, the black mourning pins, or the 5 Weeks flosses and DMCs other than the black. Needed Weeks colors are: 1268 Molasses, 1291 Basil, 1303 Charcoal, 1311 Taffeta, and 2268 Fire.

So... this sounds like the PERFECT Halloween Hideaway! The Real Estate Listing doesn't quote square footage or age of property, but we know the house has mature trees. There does seem to be spider and bat infestation issues, but structurally, it is quite sound. Interior colors are trendy, not a lot of clutter, and resident Netty Nightshade is obviously a tidy occupant, given her carefully parked broom, her careful attention to the Scream House's Holiday Decor, and her 'designer dress' done by Just Nan!

*** And yet, again, as I find myself sitting at my desk, writing these descriptions to you... I am overwhelmed by the talents of Pam and Nan! WHO dreams this stuff up??? WHO conveys to a finisher 800 miles away *exactly* what it needs to look like? And WHO stood and laughed with me last Fall at a show when we started imagining all of this??? My friend Nan! Linda Stolz of Erica Michaels has designed an EXQUISITE wool strawberry... stitched on 30ct silk gauze!!! Designed to be a scissor fob or tiny pin cushion this little 2-1/2 x 1-3/4 confection is *way too pretty* to eat... and I'd never stick pins in mine!!! Here are all the details!

Stitched in Continental Stitch (just the first half of a Cross Stitch), your berry calls for 5 different shades of Gentle Art's hand-dyed Simply Wool -- you'll be stitching with one ply of thread. The stitched berries that wrap around the piece are little checkerboards of Mulberry and Buckeye Scarlet, the blossoms have hints of golden Brandy in them, and the leaves are a deep Blue Spruce, all against a Roasted Marshmallow background! A miniature strawberry patch on your Very Berry! Next, the berry top features matching Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed wool leaves!!!

Charted for regular stitching, you could do this on linen... but our exclusive kit contains 30ct silk gauze instead! (Bigger holes than linen -- NO KIDDING!) When you are finished with the stitching, the long side is joined into a cone-shape, and the top is drawn/gathered together, with tiny wool leaves attached to the top! Just darling!!!

Offered as the complete kit, we have included the chart, gauze, 8 complete skeins of Gentle Art's Simply Wool, Weeks Dye Works wool, and your needle. Complete assembly instructions are included, along with stitching tips for the gauze! Presenting Merry Fifteen!
Nan Caldera has outdone herself, creating an enchanting 15-sided pin-cushion for The Silver Needle!!! Merry Fifteen is a delightfully intricate little piece -- it features 15 stitched panels - each measuring a mere 25 x 25 stitches. Snowflakes, angels, reindeer, candy canes, Santa, Rudolph, a snowman and holiday bird, a gingerbread couple and a tiny fir tree... all are gathered together... gracing all the different sides of the 4 x 2-1/2 stuffed pin cushion.

Frame each individual panel, make them into individual ornaments and fobs, or connect them together to make Nan's exquisite Biscornu-shaped cushion! Stitched on 28ct Natural opalescent Cashel linen... the lighter panels just glisten with the special metallic already woven throughout. The Ruby Red panels match *exactly* to Week's Dye Works Garnet thread color... so along with the DMCs you'll be using, this does include Garnet flosses and is joined together with Weeks #8 Perle of the same hand-dyed garnet color.

TONS of fun beads on here... I see antiqued reds, whites, golds and two different striped glass seed beads! One is a bold red and white stripe -- like a peppermint, and the other has the finest red and green filaments running through the glass. The center medallions are ornate antique gold pieces, one on each side. All of it is designed to showcase the special set of 5 Christmas Charmed Pins of Nan's. The ONLY set of Christmas Pins Nan will be producing... our Merry Fifteen sports the most delightful little things!

A Vintage Angel -- glazed with glitter -- featuring a star halo, she's perched atop frosted white beads and a red fire crystal base bead.

Evening Star -- Embellished with a smaller beaded star medallion, another fire crystal and opalescent pearl base.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer -- his tiny nose REALLY IS painted red!

Snowflake -- Frosted white and silver, this lacy flake features a gold finding base, and a green fire crystal!

Bird -- My Personal Favorite -- this tiny bird features red and green painted decorations on both of his sides and tail!!!

Except for a few DMC flosses from your stash, you'll receive charts, embellishments, pics, assembly instructions, 28ct linen cuts of Natural/Opalescent and Ruby Wine, the necessary Week's Dye Works Garnet flosses and matching perles, the Kreinik #4 Metallic Braid, needles, and of course, the set of five of those absolutely exquisite ***Hand-Made-By-Nan*** (EVERY single one!) glass pins!!!

I just LOVE the tiny details on this... the gingerbread people are only 17 stitches high... the little Santa reminds me of our JN Silver Needle Santa ornament a few years ago. The trees are luscious -- gold metallic garland! The reindeer are precious and so is the little snowman! I know Nan has been assembling our pins for months... she was making 100 pins each night... we keep count via periodic phone conversations!!! I don't know HOW all of this comes out of her creative head... I'm not going to ask questions!!!

Silver Needle's 3-Inch Ruler Magnet

Just something fun we'll have for a while, till they're gone... this is a bar magnet that has been painted with our shop name, and a little stitching cabin nestled in the woods! We had them done in honor of our Camp Wannasew Stitching Weekends this fall!

The magnet is painted with 1-inch increments, so it really is a 3-inch measure. Your stitching board would love one of these!

Scissor Blocks
Cool little butcher block wooden scissor holders, these are just like miniature knife blocks! Our Camp Wannasew Caretakers have been dabbling in woodworking... and during Camp one spring, discovered we had a need for these... and presto! These are the results of their talents! Measuring approx 2 inches wide, and 3 inches high, each features two rectangular holes for scissors, and one round one for a laying tool or seam ripper (even the stylus for your sewing machine computer!). There is even a magnetic disc recessed into the right side to hold needles! Anyway, most 3 to 4-inch embroidery scissors fit the openings and stay perched ready for you to reach. Ours is pictured with two different scissors, along with one of our pewter laying tools. Very cool, very handy, and really quite a unique little gadget... these will make great gifts!!!

Announcing: The Town Square!

A darling set of 40 tiny shops, businesses and churches that together, make up an awesome Town Square and Village!!! A collaboration between different designers and vendors at our Summer 2006 Wholesale Needlework Market... everyone got together, and designed a particular building as part of the overall village.

I can't remember off the top of my head who did what... but I do remember that Shepherd's Bush had a Honey Shop, Mosey 'n Me did the bookstore, Crescent Colours had the saloon, Lizzie Kate did the Candy Shop, Sweetheart Tree had a Sweet-shop... there is a knitting shop, quilt shop, frame shop (East Side Moulding did that one!), a general store, haberdashery, a button shop -- done by Just Another Button Co!. The town hall, jail, fire station... Bent Creek did the fish shop... I could go on and on!

Anyway, offered as a set of 'freebie cross stitch charts' to those shops attending the show... Silver Needle is following Elegant Stitch's idea ofloading all of these charts onto one CD for you... so you can have them all in one place, and print any or all... as many times as you wish! (We weren't sure our copier was up to all those thousands of copies anyhow... and nobody jumped up to baby-sit it while they ran!)

Because of the time and effort involved in producing the set and duplicating the CDs, we have them available for $5.00 each... with a Silver Needle purchase. No limit to the number of CDs... good inexpensive stitcher surprises here! Ready to print in .jpg format... this is such a treat!

Several of the designers had special embellishments on their houses... we have most all of it, so when you get your Village, and decide which you're going to stitch... you can order any necessary fabrics, threads, buttons and charms from us! Sorry we don't have a composite pic of the whole Village... nobody had stitched one for the show... but enjoy several of the individual pics we do have!

Jamie came to visit the shop this past fall, and presented us with this darling design!

We've chosen 10ct Betsy Ross Linen and Weeks Dye Works #5 hand-dyed perle cottons for one version, and Weeks 35ct Straw Linen and their flosses for the other version. The bigger one measures approx 3-1/2 x 6, while the smaller one measures a mere 3-1/2 x 2-1/4! (Add 1/2 an inch to each side for total finished wedge size.)

Mona has made hollow wedge stand-up finishing kits for each... so yours will look just like these!!! Easy stitching, yummy colors, a season that is 9 months away (so you have plenty of time to stitch 'em!) Offered in complete kits, we've included the linen, threads (some whole, some partial skeins), chart and embellishments. AKA Little black stick pins! I'd never seen these before, till they appeared in Netty Nightshade's Pumpkin Furniture!!! (Any good stitcher or seamstress has pins and needles stuck in her furniture!)

Presented in a clear dish with a screw-top lid, 150 black straight pins measuring 1 inch x .85mm are nestled inside. Perfect for Halloween pin cushions and sewing cases, or something very 'antiquy'... they have a flat, matte black finish that matches our black scissors.

Seasonal Swirls by Heart in Hand
Here's a cute set of 4 seasonal designs... tiny things... finishing only 2 1/2" square on 32ct. Stitched entirely in overdyeds, they're very colorful, and each ones features two special stitches. We've embellished them all with a Mill Hill glass Treasure or two, something perfect for the season. These were a special release during some of Cecelia's classes, so are un-published charts! The set of charts is available with the purchase of the glass Treasures: $12.75. The frame we've shown them in, is actually four small ones that we picked up locally and nailed together! They'd be fun all in a long row, as well. Be creative! So cheerful, enjoy them!

Ultra-Fine Threader
A super-duper thin wire in melted into this plastic threader, securely attached to thread teeny needles, perfectly! All-Purpose Threader
A great all-around needle threader... these will thread Tapestry needles as well as many others. The durable design features a wire that is fused into the plastic housing, along with a recessed cutting blade on the opposite end! There is even a small hole provided in case you want to attach it to a favorite chatelaine or project! Ours are packaged in pairs in a protective plastic sleeve and case. Very handy!

Needlework Threader
The heavy-duty version of our other two threaders, this one is perfect for Tapestry and Chenille needles. Used for needlepoint, cross-stitch, hardanger and embroidery, it's perfect for perle cottons, yarn, ribbons and specialty threads (like some of the heavier Rainbow Gallery ones!). The square design of the threader allows the thread to 'spread out' as it passes through the eye of the needle, so there is much less stress, (and less breakage later on!) It features a recessed cutting blade, as well as a hole for attachment to a chatelaine or sewing case. Packaged by the pair in a wonderful clear plastic protective sleeve... they slip into a clear case for extra protection.
