Nora Corbett's 2008 Annual Christmas Tree!
from Mirabilia Designs
We are treated to our third extra-specially festive Christmas Tree this week... designed by Nora Corbett of Mirabilia Designs. A lovely confection of rose, aqua, apple green, and teals, all the flosses, metallics and beads coordinate in this awesome piece! VERY fresh, unique, new and young Christmas colors... the tree is still very traditional in flavor. I love all the elongated 'glass' ornaments on there... that graceful, long shape that my mom's tree had so much of... ( I have only a few of her ornaments left, that are tarnished and partially broken... but I love them anyway!)
Offered as a kit, this includes 12 complete skeins of Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses, various sizes of Mill Hill beads(size 8 and 14), 3 spools of Kreinik #4 Braid metallics, a rainbow crystal heart for the topper, and 28 rainbow crystal rondele embellishments to scatter amidst the tree branches. All you add is the fabric, and your stitching fingers! VERY well done... the colors are dreamy!!!
Christmas Kisses from Dimples Designs
Terrence Nolan of Dimples Designs has treated The Silver Needle to a *LOVELY* vintage Christmas design -- his adaptation of a turn-of-the-century Christmas card! My words can't describe how beautiful this piece is 'in person.' It is stitched in DMC flosses -- 90 different colors -- with gold metallic blending filament and #4 braid accenting the border and 'A Joyful Christmas' lettering. The piece is solid stitching, so fabric choice is really personal preference.
Offered in chart form -- the 358 x 212 piece finishes 22 x 13 if you stitch it on 32ct linen. There is a full kit available, which includes 22ct Antique White Hardanger... making the finished piece approx 16 x 10. All the flosses are pre-sorted and beautifully tied onto numbered palettes in the kit -- almost too pretty to open and use!!! (actually, a very good value, too!) I just love the 'flavor' of this design. The shading is exquisite, there is so much depth, it's such a timeless classic! Thank-You, Terrence for our Christmas Kisses Exclusive Premier!!!
Christmas Tree from JBW DesignsJudy Whitman has released 6 new small card designs... Christmas Tree is just one of them! One summer sailboat, two autumn pumpkin and acorn designs, and three Christmas pieces... this one intrigues me the most. LOOK at the tree... what you DO NOT SEE in there are the hearts, trees, reindeer, holly leaves and a bow! I think there are tiny trees and cardinals in there, too... that *aren't stitched!* Your clues are the star at the tree's top, and that leaping reindeer -- can you find his shape hidden in the tree?
Offered as a small card, this piece is shown finished onto a Trail Creek Farm Giant Gingham Tree-Shaped pillow. Beautifully sewn, and stuffed FIRMLY -- very plump -- the 10 x 12 pillow is topped with a lavish organza bow. Very nicely done! MAKE SURE to see the rest of Judy's new things!
Gifts to You
from Homespun EleganceHomespun Elegance has a new Cinnamon Stick Design, and this year, it's Santa, stitched in tons of pretty threads on 10ct Tula! Calling for Weeks #5 Perle Cottons, Rainbow Gallery's Wisper for the fur and beard, and lots of flosses, he finishes an impressive 10 x 13... so he makes a generously-sized pillow! Santa's gift list is for a lucky stitcher. It reads, Samplers to Stitch, Sweaters to Knit, Rugs to Hook, and Quilts to Piece.
Offered as a chart, we have all the cute embellishments (a wooden spool on here, some tiny scissors, brass buttons, etc) included, as well. Very cute, this one BELONGS in the home of every stitcher!!!!
The Just Nan Stocking Collection
I just want to highlight -- in one place on our site -- Nan's lovely collection of Christmas Stockings. Each have been annual releases, and cover 8 years! Timeless designs, each is prettier than the last. Lots of horizontal bands, pretty stitches, beads and crystals, you'll notice that the top bands do not feature names. If you like, you can add that to the top of each... but I like that small tag that can hang off the side... a really classy way to announce the owner!
The Angel Stocking features a center area that will fit ANY of Nan's 15 Annual Angels... so you have LOTS of choices for this one! (You could stitch the whole family angels, using the same main stocking design. This leaflet includes one angel design.)
Little Victor -- Nan's first grandson -- arrived almost 5 years ago, and his stocking does differ from the rest. He has that darling teddy bear, and lots of tiny motifs from Nan's other Christmas designs! More color for Victor -- he IS kind of a bold little personality -- so he deserves to be different from the rest!
Anyway, quite an eye-catching collection of elegant stockings, totally different from the usual whimsical stockings available... stunning hanging from an elegant, traditional mantle! Each is offered as the leaflet with embellishments.
2008 Ornament Trio from Homespun EleganceEvery year, Homespun Elegance brings us ornament designs... one is always a Santa, one always a snowman, and the third is always a house or sampler. Offered as charts, each comes with a small brass embellishment of some sort. This year's set is CHARMING! 'Santa, Please Bring Me' features a scissor charm on the Santa, Rainbow Gallery Wisper threads for his beard and fur trim, and the list he's reading asks for 'linen, floss and TIME TO STITCH!!!'
The snowman piece is worked on Weeks hand-dyed Aztec Red 30ct linen, and the 'ABC Noel House' is worked on Weeks 30ct Dolphin. All finish in the neighborhood of 3 x 4-ish, and use some overdyed flosses, as well as DMCs. We have quite a few of the previous year's designs available... I checked my shop stash, and we have some back to 1999! So check out the Homespun Elegance pages and see if you can find some of the rest in these cute sets... they are popular every year!
By The Chimney from Prairie SchoolerThe Prairie Schooler presents their 4th annual Santa kit! (no... the small annual card #25 for 2008 is NOT here yet... we'll let you know when it comes!) Designed for Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses... each year, these are stitched on 28ct Natural Linen, and finish approx 5 x 8. This year's limited edition design is stitched with Cupid, 3 skeins of Blackbird, 2 skeins of Spinach, and one each of Magnolia Blossom and Rosy Glow.
I love the scene... I think this is the best of the 4 designs so far!!! Offered as the chart, linen and flosses, we do still have 2005, 06 and 07 available. They are limited in production, so I don't know how long the previous designs will be offered to us. THIS ONE IS CUTE!!!
The Christmas Needlework Shop and Holiday Carols! from Mill HillMill Hill has released the 2008 set of Christmas Button & Bead kits... we've been treated to these for years and years, and this set is one of the BEST! We have two new additions to the 12-pc Christmas Village Series -- Carolers and the Needlework Shop! The four new Carols are stunning!!! Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, Silent Night and Joy to the World are very eye-catching, and so full of bold design element.
Wonderful color, the words are plain, each design is full of pretty stitch and bead detail... and I think you could even stitch the middles of each design as individual ornaments! Always offered as complete kits of 14ct perforated paper, the chart, flosses, lots of beads and a Mill Hill hand-made button, each finishes approx 5 x 5. Our shop models will be presented on 28ct linen, like always, so we've chosen fabric colors that match the original paper background colors. You're going to need all of these!!!
Presenting the Nutcracker Ballet! from Mill HillMill Hill has released a wonderful set of 6 small ornament-sized beaded and stitched decorations for Christmas! Celebrating the Nutcracker Ballet... each 3 x 4-1/2 ornament is stitched on 14ct perforated paper with DMC flosses and Mill Hill beads. Offered as individual kits, we have Uncle Drosselmayer, Clara, The Mouse King, The Nutcracker, Sugar Plum Fairy and The Prince.
Stitch just one or two, or all six for your tree.. they'd be kind of fun hanging in the same general area. They don't use any metallic threads, and I personally think there are lots of places that you could add some -- just for fun. See what threads you have in your stash, and get to work! Think about stitching a whole army of Nutcrackers -- you could change uniform colors. Think about stitching the Sugar Plum Fairy for all the little girls in a dance class! This is a timeless set of great little ornaments! Offered as complete kits of chart, perforated paper, flosses, beads and glass Treasure embellishment!
Winter Greetings Kits from Mill HillThe third new set of 2008 winter designs to join the Mill Hill line, these tiny words of wisdom will look great on your tree... or pinned to a bulletin board at work... or hanging over a cabinet knob... or as gift tags... greeting cards...or scrapbook decor! Each 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece is full of glisteny glass beads, and brilliant color.
Offered as complete kits of chart, 14ct perforated paper, all the necessary beads and flosses... there are bells and whatnots embellishing them, too! Very different from Mill Hill's previous Holiday offerings... these are a pleasant addition to our collection!
Christmas Eve Couriers from MirabiliaMay we present a most charming set of Santa's Reindeer??? By Mirabilia's Nora Corbett, this is an exquisite set of 8 charts -- each of one of Santa's devoted reindeer -- dressed and ready for Christmas Eve's Special Deliveries!!! 'On Dasher, On Dancer, On Prancer and Vixen... On Comet, On Cupid, On Donner and Blitzen...' Comet, Prancer finish the set!
Nora has designed this lovely set of reindeer, that each share the same stitch count, so therefore, the same finished size of approx 5 x 6-1/4 on 32ct. Beautiful DMC colors, each features some Rainbow Gallery Wisper thread -- for deer tails, bits of metallic, and Mill Hill glass beads and treasure embellishments for some extra sparkle! Choose Twilight Blue as your fabric... we have it in several counts.
The little reindeer are colorful and charming... very festive! In my minds eye, I see Dasher and Donner as a set, Dancer and Blitzen as a pair -- because of their trees, and Vixen and Cupid together. Of course, you can choose any that you want, and certainly all 8! They are elegant... wouldn't they be pretty pillows on your chairs this year? Offered as charts with embellishments (intact packages of the beads, treasures and whole spools of the metallics) offered separately. Just put your cursor over each image to see its name.
Santa's Workshop from Mill HillMill Hill has licensed the artwork of Jim Shore and charted his designs into cross stitch! The first three publications are here, and they are stunning! Offered in leaflet form, each is stitched with DMC flosses and embellished with Mill Hill beads and MH's Jim Shore buttons.
Santa's workshop finishes approx 12 x 15, Harvest Trio finishes approx 5 x 12, and Awaken finishes approx 8 x 10. So colorful and pretty, we've packaged the beads and buttons together if you need them!
from Trail Creek FarmPlenty of time ahead to finish this contemporary, colorful, Christmas confection in time for Christmas 2008! Trail Creek Farm has 'redesigned' herself a bit, and is offering a new updated finished pillow look! Susan is now hand-screening fabrics with her own artwork, and then assembling pillows with exposed, surged edges -- kind of a modern, funky look -- and applying BELLY BANDS!
Christmas Noel was my favorite from Market this season... it's a green, cappuccino and burgundy plaid complimented with Susan's screened poinsettias. The pre-sewn Belly Band features a 20-ish count evenweave inset... stitched with her Noel Christmas design... and than wrapped around the pillow and buttoned! Stunning colors, the fabrics and designs are fresh and trendy! Everything is pre-sewn, pillow measures approx 10 x 12, all kitted up, ready to go... you get the pillow, Belly Band, chart and flosses... and I love it!
A Quaker Christmas from ByGone StitchesOffered by ByGone Stitches, we are treated to this decidedly intricate Quaker-inspired spot motif sampler... with a bit of Christmas tossed in! Available in chart format, the whole piece measures approx 20 x 13 on 32ct, and is worked in only three colors of overdyed threads.
Now... study this a bit. The chart is very clearly done... you'll probably want to highlight the three different colors with highlighters. Next... realize that this has potential to be a family sampler... by simply changing the JOY, PEACE, and NOEL words and various scattered letters to those that have significance in your family. It doesn't have to be 'Christmas' if that's not a goal in your decorating scheme, or stitching schedule!
The design is awesome -- such great balance and symmetry -- especially for a spot-motif piece -- it's just elegant! As is, it calls for 20 skeins of Crescent's Balsam Fir, 2 skeins of Cupid and 1 of Ye Old Gold. Look at your decor, choosing your favorite green, a touch of red and gold... and order enough thread at the onset to finish this! All crosses, offered as the chart... this is stunning!
Big Mama Claus from Amy Bruecken Designs
Here's Big Nick's Main Squeeze -- Big Mama!!! This is a darling companion to Big Nick -- published by Sisters & Best Friends. AB Designs is half of 'Sisters'... who are still *sisters* and *best friends*... just not a team of designers anymore. They each have their own company... so now its kind of fun to look back at the Sisters Page, and guess who really was behind which design!!!
Anyway, here's Big Mama... waiting for her man with a big 'ole Christmas Pudding on her lap! Check out the reindeer slippers! There are more snowmen you can see through the window in the background, and even though the wallpaper is the same... the friends in the room have changed. Offered as the chart with lots of fun bead embellishments, she measures approx 12 x 12 on 28ct. Pretty colors... lots of visual impact!!!
On the First Day of Christmas... from Prairie Moon
Prairie Moon has been working on this set of stockings for some time... and we are now up to the 4th Day! #1 Is pictured here... it companions Day Two. Days 3 and 4 feature more of the primitive village scenery, but with different trees and houses. Each Day has it's featured gift... #1 has the Partridge in the Pear Tree. #2 Features the Two Calling Birds... you get the idea!
Kind of the same, kind of different from each other, offered in chart format... each is stitched on 28ct linen in overdyeds, and finishes approx 15 inches high and 9 inches wide at the toe. Too late for Santa's 2007 Visit... these are perfect to begin as a set for a family that is NOT into 'frilly'! (To make identification easier... just put your cursor over the individual stocking images to see their names.)
Yule Game Board
from The Primitive Needle
This is a neat pattern that caught our eye in the shop! Offered as a chart, it features charming, lacy evergreens, and a perky little cardinal that decorate a miniature gameboard. Stitched on 30ct hand-dyed, it measures approx 5 x 13, and is worked in Sampler Threads and Crescent overdyeds -- just three colors!
Now... if you're an impatient stitcher, think about stitching the top half and maybe three of the checkerboard rows! The little trees would make such pretty ornaments, too!
from Shepherd's BushA little angel-shepherd on her Christmas Journey... Tina's tiny design for Christmas 2007 is stitched on 32ct Medieval Green in 9 shades of solid and hand-dyed silks. A deep grape, and lots of softer mauves, moss and buttermilk, the 3 x 4-ish design features a few easy stitches and a small yellow star embellishment.
Actually quite finish-able in time for Christmas... the complete kit contains the chart, linen, silks, needle and star. Three other designs have been released along with 'Come'... so check 'em out, too!
Jingle All The Way
from Notforgotten Farm
WHY is this squared, simple design SO charming??? I wonder if its because Santa is standing in his sleigh (something you never do in a row boat!), and his glasses are flying a full stitch OFF his head! What about the square little houses with their organized pines and chimneys... the reindeer are all so alert and perfectly poised... the fabric is quite distressed... it doesn't match the perfect symmetry of the design... I just love it!!!
Offered as a chart, this finishes approx 10 x 10 on 28ct. Although the pattern calls for 14ct white aida that you distress... think about all the different hand-dyeds on the market. This is a definite!!!
Santa's North Pole from Glendon Place
This is quite the bustling village... stitched in *only* 106 different colors of DMC floss!!! Welcoming Nutcrackers at the gate to the city, The Claus Cafe, Elf Lodge, Santa's Workshop, and the Reindeer Barn all surround the central Christmas Tree -- the heart of the village.
Offered as a chart... you get all 8 pages in one continuous sheet of symbols and backstitching for ease in motif placement. Cheryl notes that nothing in this design overlaps anything else... so it's a perfect option to re-arrange onto a tree skirt, or something like that! Use all the individual trees over and over again.. change the dress colors on some of the people.. get creative... and make something spectacular for NEXT year!!!
Simply charming, there are lots of cute details in here, and stitched as is -- this finishes approx 13 x 17 on 28ct. If you decide on a 10ct tree skirt, your buildings will measure approx 8 to 10 inches each... PERFECT!!! Get the pattern, study it a bit, and make your plan!!! And be sure to view the other designs on our new Glendon Place page!
from Midsummer Night Designs
One of my favorite Christmas passages... I always remember Linus taking his thumb out of his mouth and quoting this in front of the little Charlie Brown Christmas Tree! OK... this design DOES present a different flavor and remembrance for those words! Designed by Midsummer Night Designs, this is stitched in DMC and overdyeds and finishes approx 5 x 10 on 36ct.
The sky's the limit on fabric choices with something like this... you can finish it in a cube, a shown, or maybe a pillow, if you choose a larger count fabric. The halo is stitched in gold metallic, along with all the stars in her dress. Very pretty!
Better Homes & Gardens Heirloom Christmas Stockings
Holy Cow... This wonderful softcover compilation of nine of the most favored Christmas Stocking patterns EVER published... is available again!!! Originally appearing annually in Cross Stitch and Country Crafts Magazines beginning in the late 1980's... we were treated to a new stocking every year... for 10-12ish, years, I think... until the Magazine and publishing rights ceased. For a few years following, leaflets of the stockings were available... then they stopped. Then this particular book came out... and it went out of print shortly thereafter.
So, to make a long story short, this collection has been very hard to get -- all at one time -- for quite some time!!! Beautiful pictures, nice charts, all in 64 pages! Even if your stash already has some of these charts, get this book!!! You'll never be sorry you did! Each stocking is stitched on 25ct Lugana and measures approx 11 x 17, stitched in DMC flosses. Definitely family heirlooms, the nine featured are the Workshop, North Woods, Music Room, Kitchen, Home, Sugar and Spice, Stitcher's Studio, Toys & Games, and Study!!!
Artist Michael Powell has been charting his delightfully whimsical houses and village scenes for a few years now.. but is finally offering his creativity in chart form, rather than full kits... and we are THRILLED!
So many charming design elements in each piece... I love the snowcapped roofs of the Winter Village set, the cobblestones in the Summer Set, and the heart-shaped street lamps of the Venice Set!
Offered as charts, each finishes the same size, approx 7 x 8 on a 28ct. Stitched in whole crosses, what gives these so much flavor are the bright colors, and the displaced backstitch. You get lots of crooked little lines and shapes, lots of fun interest, lots of 'relaxing' buildings... I just love all of these!!! They fit my idea of the perfect little bustling European Village -- right out of a picture book!
Heirloom Nativity Sampler
from The Victoria Sampler
An intricate Christmas sampler... this features lacy Whitework and a bit of Hardanger all tucked between bands of the Angels on High, the Shepherds Watching their Sheep, the Three Wise Men, and Jesus in the Manger. The story of Christmas is told band by band, stitched in silks and metallics on 28ct Smokey Pearl Cashel Linen.
Finishing approx 5 x 23... study the bands a bit... there are so many small border designs in this... each of the special scenes could be stitched by itself for a neat little stand-up... connect it all horizontally... it fits! Victoria Sampler is delivering another exquisite piece.
The *huge* Accessory Thread Pack is a 'Who's-Who' of silks, metallics and embellishments! Lovely charts, diagrams and stitches, it promises to spark lots of Christmas memories!
Poinsettias and Pines
from Blue Ribbon DesignsOne of two new designs, this is a lovely, subdued winter sampler. Since Lindy was still gone when this came in, your weary webmaster consulted one of the shop experts on this. Mona tells me that the inner motif would also make a great fob, and that she would choose a lambswool fabric.
Measuring anywhere from 12 x 7 on 40 ct, down through 17 x 10 on 28 count, it has been stitched in Bell Soie silks.
Just let the gals know if you need threads or fabric for this, and they'll be glad to help you pick it all out.
Beautiful Finishing 2
from The Victoria Sampler
Ornaments, Scissor Fobs, Tassels and Cording Lessons Goodness... all you've ever wanted to know (but actually, I think, a little more!) about small piece finishing is presented in this colorful leaflet of multiple projects.
Along with 6 pages of charts, you get 6 pages of finishing instructions -- which include 69 pictures of finishing procedures! Lovely little Christmas ornaments... stitch these, or something you like, and use these techniques to finish your ornaments! Beautifully presented.
Christmas Tree 2007 from MirabiliaMirabilia has designed their second annual Christmas Tree... and it's truly lovely! An exquisite study in greens and whites, the beads are pretty, and the Crescent Colours look like a crispy, fresh caeser salad!!! 12 Doves decorate your 28ct Dirty Linen (sounds so nasty!) confection that finishes approx 8 x 12.
She describes this as a Blue Frasier Fir decorated with swirling snow, icy crystal forest branches and fluttery birds. The colors are so unexpected and restful -- so many shades of green. We think of nature as one color... till you study it for a minute! Yes... my caeser salad's lettuce has ALL these colors!!! Kit contains the chart, 6 packages of seed beads and 15 complete skeins of Crescent Colours overdyed flosses!
from Margaret SherryOffered as a chart, finishes approx 5 x 5, and is full of 'fluffy charm!' I love those little straight stitches on the hat and Santa's beard -- that's what makes the 'fluff.'
Pretty colors, nice face details with cheerful smiles, this is just cute!
Mister Snowman and Gingerbread for Christmas
from Lili PointsTwo darling recipes by Lili Point -- one for the outside, and the other for the inside!!! Both are offered as charts, stitched in regular cross stitches in a medley of white, coral, garnet, orange spice, and soft browns. Not your typical holiday color palette, but these somehow, really work! Stitched on 32ct, they finish approx 12 and 13 inches square -- actually pretty large.
Like all the rest of Lili Point's designs, these two are charming, fresh, clean and young looking. The recipes sound good, too! Something easy to stitch, lots of visual impact, might be time to refresh some of your older Christmas decorations!!!
Recipe for Christmas and A Medley of Trees
from Lili PointsTwo more Lili Point designs for Christmas that are just delightful! That little medley of trees is just the best! You can stitch it as is... or think about doing single trees as small ornaments... lining them all up side-by-side for a long, skinny piece... or even simply stitching your favorite two or three! Recipe for Christmas is a companion to the Gingerbread and Snowman Recipes, I like the simple lines and fresh flavor to these designs.
The recipe finishes approx 13 x 13, while the trees measure in at a whopping 16 x 18!!! You can do some serious fabric count changes with that one! The Trees chart includes a few red glass bead embellishments, while the Recipe includes some brass stars and a red star for one of the tree tops.
from Just NanNan's 2007 Christmas Band Sampler, is stitched in Weeks overdyed flosses, bits of #4 metallic Braid, and #8 Perle Cottons. The satin-y flowers, the lacy trees, all is garnished with lots of tiny gold beads. I don't know the design size yet, or any stitch details... so all we have at the moment is this tiny teaser pic!
Very Classic Nan... something elegant to dress your home for the Holidays! Offered as the leaflet with embellishments, this is stitched on 28ct Light Mocha Cashel Linen.

This is the 9th year to add to the set of Musical, Mountaineer, Polar... all of the previous 24 are pictured on our MH Kits pages. Stitched on 14ct Perforated Paper, each finishes approx 3 x 4-1/2, and makes a charming hand-made addition to any Christmas tree!
Allegheny has a teddy bead in his sack, Blue Ridge is holding a racoon and Smoky Mountain features a cat.
Simple, with Olde World appeal... we keep selling the first year's set just as much as the newer ones!!! They are an awfully good value, as well... maybe that's why!
Winter Holiday Kits from Mill HillFor the 'gazillionth' year in a row... we have a new set of tiny beaded Christmas Tree ornaments! Always cute, always 2 x 3-ish in size, always complete little kits loaded with floss, beads and sometimes a Treasure embellishment to two, they take an evening or two or three to complete. Stitched on 14ct perforated paper, the holes are easy to see, they're so colorful, and the beads just glisten reflecting the lights from your tree. Just look at that Christmas Cardinal... it's FUZZY! (How cute is that? We have a tiny springtime bluebird just like it, too.) The white angel will be stunning against the greenery of your tree, too!|
Our local embroider's guild chapter always stitches a few dozen of these to decorate a huge wreath that they donate to our local Philbrook Museum of Art's Holiday fundraiser (each member does one kit.) You may not be able to stitch a 'few dozen' ornaments... but choose 5 or 6 from all the years and years of kits we have still available on our MH pages, and make yourself a tiny wreath! What a cool gift, too!
Anyway, don't miss all the previous designs on our MH pages... some are TOO CUTE! Always a great value, too, because everything is included in these -- tons of different flosses and bead colors.

There are only nine colors of floss in this... it's just so full of glitz and charm... that it looks as though you've used 35 or 40!!! Finishing approx 7-1/2 x 11, this looks like it would be a lot of fun to stitch and 'decorate!'

By The Victoria Sampler, this is so, so pretty... it's stitched mainly in cross stitches... and features snowflakes stitched in all sorts of permutations of Star and Eyelet Stitches. Offered as a leaflet with embellishment pack of beads, crystals, clay peppermint and holly, some stars and buttons, Big Nick measures approx 12 x 12 on 28ct, and is stitched in regular DMC flosses. I just love the colors and the shading... such a big puffy chair, such cute trees and that sack... and such a teeny little face on Nick! Charming!
Along For The Ride
from Homespun EleganceHomespun Elegance's 2006 Snowman Ornament is actually pretty darn cute! Always a snowman, always offered as the chart with tiny embellishment of some sort... this year's features the snowman flying across the sky in a sleigh that looks remarkably like a reindeer!!! The cows (they always have square rear-ends!) in the front yard are really sheep... I read the directions!
Finishing approx 3 x 4 on 28ct linen, you'll need the bits of overdyed and DMC flosses from your stash.
Advent Calendar & Petite Ornamentals
from JBW Designs
JBW has released the neatest set of tiny ornament designs that all fit into one gigantic Advent Calendar design! So, so many options with this great set of designs... the main piece features a huge border surrounding all the tiny 2 x 2-ish ornamental squares that Velcro onto their corresponding date. (You could leave off all those date numbers as one of the options.)
The main calendar finishes approx 19 x 13 stitched on a cream or white Cashel Linen. Each individual ornament finishes a bit smaller than 2 x 2.There are several other options for everything, as shown in the pictures. Think about the individual cranberry velveteen tie pillows -- they measure 5 x 5. Then, there is a red, green and black flange pillow -- approx 7 x 12 -- that fits three ornament designs with part of that pretty main border.
What about finishing the ornaments individually any number of ways?
The sky's the limit with this!
Offered as the set of all charts and finishing ideas, there is an embellishment package included that features 5 different colors of glass seed beads, and 22 different tiny charms and buttons! It will stitch the entire set of ornaments. Very well done... this'll take a bit of 'studying' to choose your favorite options! (That's why I haven't quoted fabrics here.) (and...I'm happy to say that our Mona did all the ornament finishing... and Celia stitched some of the cover models!)
JBW has 4 other small designs that are new... visit our pages to get a peek!
Cinnamon Stick Stocking III
from Homespun EleganceMerry Christmas flows down the body of this looonnng and skiiinnny stocking... that is probably large enough to hold SEVERAL of Santa's Treasures!!! It's definitely the predominant message, and is trimmed by the cute little house and sleigh below! The top features the name-of-choice, while the toe area features the holiday scenery. The model is shown stitched on a hand-dyed 28ct Vatican Red Linen. You could choose any neutral that you like -- I don't think this HAS to be done on the red.
Using both overdyeds and DMC flosses, it's embellished with a few of Homespun Elegance's Olde Brass Buttons, for a bit of charm. Finishing approx 8-1/2 x 21, all it needs is your mantel! Homespun Elegance has another funky-shaped stocking chart -- Holly Holidays -- check it out, too... as the charming shapes add such a neat touch! And be sure to check out the 2 other new designs, too!
from Just Nan
Just Nan has released her 15th angel... and this time... we have a border that surrounds Ariel, and all of her predecessors! Offered as a leaflet, Ariel is the same petite and delicate angel Nan has always designed for us.
Her border is universal to the rest of the angels, and the leaflet supplies color conversions for highlights in that border, so it will compliment the angel of your choice!!! Ariel is also another angel option for the center of Nan's Angel Stocking design!
2006 Christmas Club Flip-Its|
This is a delightfully charming set of 12 small ornaments... all offered in individual charts... all finishing the same size... and all reminding us of the many Blessings of Christmas! Each design finishes a petite 2 x 2, and is shown 'framed' in a 'mat' of Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed wool.
A no-sew finishing technique, you can hang these on a small tree, your larger Christmas tree, little drawer pulls where-ever... or on the cute old-fashioned white brush tree from Lizzie Kate! Each design is stitched in bits of overdyed threads, and comes with it's own tiny brass embellishment. Notice the micro-buttons on the wool... we have a pack of those available, as well, so your whole set can look just as cute as these!
Winter Wind from Prairie Schooler
'The birds are gone, the ground is white... the winds are wild.. they chill and bite!' Yikes! Again, Prairie Schooler's 4-1/2 x 9-1/2 inch sampler is offered with a fun companion piece of winter motifs. Check out the groundhog!! His little block is warning us we have 6 more weeks to wait!!! Absolutely charming!
You might want a deep red for the ornament backs, or green or brown... (The 'reserve list' is for shipment later this year on the yet-unreleased Spring and Summer Companion leaflets!)
Christmas Day from Prairie Schooler
Five more ornament-sized Holiday motifs are gathered together in the Christmas Sampler version of Prairie Schooler's new set of Foursomes!
The partridge is cute, the snowmen are, too... I like the way each comes to the very edge of the design. It fills up your ornament... you know if you do those individual squares over one on 32ct, they will measure only a teeny-weeny INCH in size!!! How cool is that?!
Good Saint Nick from Prairie Schooler
'Up on the housetop click-click-click, Down thru the chimney with good Saint Nick.' The 4th in the new Prairie Schooler Foursome set of designs... this features the main sampler the same size as the Autumn, Winter and Christmas designs... but its foursome of Santas finishes slightly larger (5 x 7) than the others.
Same great PS colors, I really like that portion at the bottom of the main piece... you could taker that out and just stitch IT! ... or the Santa at the top coming out of the chimney!
The 2006 Santa is Here! from Prairie Schooler
The 23 Annual little Santa card has arrived... and this year our Man-of-the-Season is sewing stockings! In the same small card format as every other year, same color scheme, this year's is a charming addition to the set! We have all the rest of the previous designs available... STILL!
Prairie Schooler has re-printed past years in a 9 x 12 format with 4 years of Santas together, as they have run out of the single cards... so you may have to double up on one of two to get the whole 23 year set. Over the years, we've seen these done into Afghans, bell pulls... you name it. Kind of special remembrance for me, personally... Prairie Schooler was a new designer at the second Market I ever attended, in Atlanta, in the Summer of 1984. They created quite a stir... and introduced their first Santa card at that show!
Also of note, are the two Limited Edition Santa Kits that Prairie Schooler began last year. Both are currently available -- they are offered as the design along with complete skeins of Crescent Colors hand-dyed flosses, linen and needle. A special thing for PS simply because they have always used a DMC color palette... both the 2005 and 2006 Santas remind me of those in Good Saint Nick!
from Teresa Kogut
Finishing approx 4 x 4, this is stamped onto very dark and distressed Weaver's cloth, so if you leave a bit of border showing... it'll look old and neat. Santa takes 15 skeins of Weeks overdyeds -- lots of deep reds and greens!
Teresa Kogut is a new addition to our Punch Needle Department! Her designs have such personality... you can just 'hear' what all the characters are saying in her pieces! Be sure to check out the rest!
from Homespun Elegance
Homespun Elegance's 2006 Sampler Ornament, this year's design features the watchful angel above in the sky... a cool big golden star in the background of the house, a Colonial Knotted wreath on the front door, and a little knotted wooly sheep! Offered as the chart with angel charm, this finishes approx 3 x 3-3/4 on 28ct.
We still have some 2005 and 2004 ornaments on our Homespun Elegance page... and quite a smattered collection of previous year's ornament designs... but you'll need to call with availability on those... too much to list in an e-mail -- and the selection changes all the time!
Walking in a Winter Snapperland|
or... as we call it: "Chillville!"
from Bent CreekThe Chalet is first in Bent Creek's set of 2006 Snappers entitled 'Walking in a Winter Snapperland'... we at the Silver Needle are affectionately (and thus shortening the name) calling this new set "Chillville!" A new set of 4 small card Snapper patterns, The Chalet is the first of the designs. Charming and cozy stitched just by itself... Chalet is the first panel of the main design that's tied together with a freebie border chart supplied to us by Bent Creek. The border is similar to Snapperville, and says 'One kind word can warm the three winter months...'
The embellishment pack contains the extra snaps, snowflake buttons and a white winter bird. Stitched individually, each card's design will measure approx 3 x 3. Stitched with the surrounding border, the entire piece will measure approx 5 x 17.
Now... we are beginning a new auto-ship for this set of "Chillville's" 4 patterns. You'll receive The Chalet, the fabric cut, the embellishment pack, (no price as of my words this morning) and border chart with your first shipment. The other three will just contain the cards. Anyhow... join the auto.. this is going to be CUTE!!! The Winter Chillville fabric cut is actually a 1/6 yd piece of linen measuring 12 x 27, slightly larger than 3 inches of allowance of each side... but economical to cut!
Dear Santa from Prairie SchoolerThe 2006 Limited Edition Santa kit by Prairie Schooler has arrived! Only the second in the set (so you really aren't behind yet!), he is offered as a complete kit of 28ct Natural Linen, the chart and needles, and 6 complete skeins of Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses. Finishing approx 5 x 8... Dear Santa is full of Prairie Schooler's timeless balance and primitive flavor. Deep reds and greens... some brighter cremes and more greens... something about PS's Santa designs defies dates -- they never seem to look 'yucky-old!'... just 'wonderful-old!'
Check out last year's Here Comes Santa Claus... same colors, same size... we can still get him! (The annual small Prairie Schooler Santa card usually releases July 4th Weekend... THIS is a different guy!)
Gingerbread Garden Sampler
from Victoria Sampler
Stitch tiny gingerbread cookies, candy canes, and a delicious-looking cottage -- but DO NOT EAT! Stitched on 28ct Dirty Linen -- a great gingerbread color -- your piece is filled with candy-bead embellishments, lots of fun stitches and delicious silk threads of tan, butter, red, rose, greens and creamy, frosty white!
Full of festive colors and flavor, the Gingerbread Garden finishes approx 2 x 8 -- just like the rest of Victoria Samplers' charming miniature garden samplers! Accessory pack contains all the necessary silks, beads and metallics!
A Christmas Spirit from Passione Ricamo
By Passione Ricamo of Italy, this is a lovely tribute to St Lucia, a spirit of Jesus, Light and Hope... so elegant! Laura Lattuada, the designer tells a Christmas story on the chart about December in the North of Italy -- the month of greetings and darkness -- because it gets dark there by 4:45 in the afternoon(!), along with a bit of history of St Lucia. Very touching, the story makes the design even more exquisite! Celebrated December 13th in Italy, St Lucia is bringing the Light of the Lord and the Hope as first messenger of Christmas.
Offered as a chart, it's printed nice and large, with clear symbols, instructions in both English and Italian, and uses lots and lots of DMC flosses!!! Measuring approx 15 x 16 on 28ct linen (you could choose so many different colors or counts for this), it features Rainbow Gallery metallic in the dress and border, Wisper thread to make her cape trim furry, as well as some Mill Hill beads to make everything glisten! Just beautiful, the beads and threads in my drop down contain 40123, 40557 and 42043 Petite Seed Beads, and Rainbow Gallery's PB19, PB01, and W88.
Happy Christmas Row from Bent Creek
Happy Christmas to All! Bent Creek's newest holiday greeting is offered in leaflet format, with the darling clay embellishments, as an additional treat! Stitched on 32ct linen in Weeks Brick, Rum Raisin, Bark and Juniper, along with Dried Thyme Sampler Threads, it measures approx 2 x 17. The clay buttons are especially festive this time around, because there are so many new ones included! There are some awesome trees, a 'swirly thing' and ornaments, a cookie and a swirled candle -- real, real cute!
Away in a Manger and O Holy Night
from Just Another Button Co
Away in a Manger is a really neat Nativity piece that Just Another Button Company introduced last year. We've had the model done for almost that long... but I never remembered to add it to our pages!!! Offered as a freebie chart, with the purchase of the button pack, this stitching option for the 4 x 8 piece is offered on 18ct Cream/Metallic needlepoint canvas. No needlepointing required, the canvas is really nice to work on -- the stitches are simply a few satins and long straight stitches. The buttons do ALL the work! Do the 30 minutes of stitching, add the buttons, and it's done!
O Holy Night is the smaller version of this design. It's worked on linen, and features a few more stitches and a smaller-in-size set of Nativity buttons. We have both charts along with their required button pack -- this pack contains smaller versions of the Away in a Manger clay -- and although 'Away' is framed and 'O Holy' is finished into a box shape, you can frame or finish these any way you'd like!
The Christmas Elf Fairy from Mirabilia
This is a special edition kit designed by Mirabilia's Nora Corbett, that depicts a delicate, feminine Holiday fairy! The pattern description reads, "...cute as a snowflake and sweet as a candy cane. She wears a coat of red velvet and snowy fur with pearl studded black patent boots. She is the first of six limited edition designs by Nora Corbett (for Hoffman distributing -- one of our suppliers) and showcases the gorgeous hand-dyed floss by Crescent Colours."
The complete kit contains the pattern, complete packages of Mill Hill beads, Rainbow Gallery Wisper, 11 5yd skeins of Crescent Colours overdyed floss, an 11 x 14 cut of 32ct Natural Belfast linen, and a bit of Kreinik #4 Braid. She finishes approx 5-1/2 x 8, and is just lovely!
from Homespun Elegance
This year's editions to the annual ornament collection, HE is offering two charts as companions to all their previous ornament designs! Jumping Flakes features a juggling snowman, and Oh Holy Night is a small Nativity piece. Stitched over two on 28ct, these measure approx 2-1/2 x 3-1/2... but they look AWESOME over one thread, as well! Simple cross stitches, pretty overdyeds... just really nice, classic additions to your Christmas Tree! Each is offered as the chart, with tiny brass embellishment.
from Shepherd's BushThe new Musing design by Shepherd's Bush celebrates the upcoming season with a simple word, a few carefully charted stitches, and a darling assortment of hand made clay buttons. Stitched on 10ct Lambswool Heatherfield, using a collection of soft overdyed flosses, Star finishes approx 4 x 7, and is offered as the single sheet chart with buttons sold separately.
Polar Santa Ornaments from Mill Hill|
The seventh annual set of three paper Santa Ornaments has been released! We've had 18 so far... and these three bring the set to 21! Always finishing approx 3 x 5 on perforated paper, and stitched with DMC flosses, these feature very few bead embellishments, and always a 3-D beard treatment! Offered as complete kits of pattern, paper, flosses and beads, they've stood the test of time... and just keep selling all year long! Very good looking on a Santa Christmas tree!!! Browse the the Mill Hill pages to see all the other sets in this series!
Charmed Mittens from Mill Hill|
The 2005 set of miniature mitten ornaments has arrived! This year's set is stitched on red, green and brown perforated paper for a splash of new color! (Look closely at the very edge of each design... you can tell which color of paper each uses.) Cute, cute...lots of teeny beads and a gold charm or white snowflake embellishment, these look really nice on the Christmas tree... because they're a nice size. Finishing approx 2 x 3... check out some of the previous sets from years past, too!
Mitten Games from Crossed Wing Collection
What a charming winter scene!!! Reminiscent of Crossed Wing's Frosty Feast design, this is a detailed, shaded snowman, complete with a wooly green scarf and hat set. His faithful companions, the dog and bird, are stitched with just as much detail and color shading as he. Crossed Wing really has a flair for the realistic, and this design is full of that flair and has fantastic winter charm!!! Finishing approx 4 x 5 on Snow Squall Linen, Mitten Games is offered as a chart, with linen separately.
Snow Fence from Raise the Roof
Here's a creative little fence that is really snow people!!! So, so cute, this is stitched entirely in overdyeds on Ice Blue Cashel Linen. The 'post-men' each feature a clay nose, a heart or star trim piece, and two of them feature a clay stocking hat to match his scarf. Just something a little more creative than your average snowman... this is a delightful design, finishing approx 4-1/2 x 7! Offered as a single sheet chart, with the clay and linen separately.
from Raise the Roof
Santa's clothesline of laundry is hanging out for the world to see!!! The companion to Witchy Washy, Santa's clothes feature another wild pair of underwear, and lots of cute detail! Stitched on 32ct Opalescent Belfast linen -- a new color -- this is worked in overdyeds, and features a set of Just Another Button Co clay buttons. The fabric is cool... it's a natural linen color with opalescent thread highlights woven into it. Sounds weird, but very pretty! Santa's clothes that are 'freeze-dried!, measure approx 6 1/2 x 13, and are available as a leaflet pattern, with clay that is additional. Very charming... who says the laundry room can't be decorated for the holidays!!!??
2000 Years Ago
from Shepherd's Bush
2000 Years ago, the Angels sang, Shepherds watched, and Wise Men came. This leaflet is a compilation of the consecutive set of Shepherd's Bush ornaments that have appeared in previously published Just Cross Stitch Magazine Annual Ornament Issues! Now out of print, the designs have been released back to SB, and are now here as the set... and sooo endearing! Stitch each individually, or stitch the set.
These are full of Shepherd's Bush charm and color. Each does feature a delicate sterling charm... and you'll probably want all those, too! 2000 Years features the Shepherd's Crook charm. Angels Sang features the horn. Shepherd's Watch has a darling lamb, and Wise Men Came features a tiny Arabian-looking lamp! Each ornament is stitched on 32ct Linen, and has been 'digitally remastered' to include overdyed threads that weren't originally called for !!! Verrrry nice!
Snowman and Holiday Home Stockings
from Bent Creek
These are two of seven new releases by Bent Creek! Snowman Stocking joins Holiday Home as Bent Creek's first two stocking patterns. Stitched on 18ct Natural linen in frosty shades of Oatmeal, Shaker White, Lavender Potpourri, Old Blue Paint, and woodsey tones of Chestnut and Bark along with a few other wintery overdyed flosses, the stockings finish approx 11 x 16-ish inches! Embellished with clay buttons, the leaflets contain an alphabet for personalization. The fabric cut we're offering is large enough for one stocking and enough extra to add a bit of length, if you wish, and you may want more than one skein of some of the threads! Cute and blustery...
12 Days of Christmas & Gingerbread
Two Holiday designs that have so much flavor!!! Each is available as a chart with all the charm embellishments shown, included in the pack. 12 Days of Christmas features tiny casted charms that follow the verses of the popular song! Both finish approx 3 x 13. Hinzeit has quite a collection of designs like these... make sure you see the rest!
from Birds of a Feather
One of the newest in this set of whimsically primitive Christmas Stockings... each of the four stockings is available as an individual leaflet. Stitched on 28ct hand-dyed linen, these finish a generous 14-ish by 23! (you'll need 1/4 yard of linen for each) So, so colorful, funky, and definitely unique... all are stitched using Weeks Dye works flosses in the most rich and yummy shades. As you can see, they definitely make a set, because of the checkered toes, heels, and cuffs... which offer plenty of room for personalization. Snow Day features a 4-ball snowman, and lots of little elves (you could put your kid's initials on their hats!). Although there are really tons of stitches in these... they are really, really endearing! (If fading over the years is a concern of yours, you may want to choose a Natural linen for these vs the hand-dyed.)
Joy To The World
from Shepherd's Bush
Stitch this charming Holiday greeting... complete with overdyed flosses and hand-made clay buttons... and you'll treasure it each year you pull it out for your displays! Available as a leaflet, Teri has used green and gold overdyed flosses for the simple design, and embellished it with some really cute Just Another Button Company buttons! There is a Santa face that is precious, jingle bells, frosted cookies, and a tiny stocking mixed in with stars and tiny bulbs! Verrry quick to stitch, this has lots of impact worked on 18ct Ivory linen, (even more awesome on the Lambswool and Natural Light colors!!!) it finishes approx 5 x 13-1/2 inches, and even has a small ornament-sized companion piece, charted in the same leaflet! Our clay pack includes clay for both projects. (The small design is charted for 10ct Heatherfield... but the same linen would work, as well, so just let us know if you need a small 9 x 11 cut of your preferred fabric.) Very festive!
Heirloom Christmas Sampler
from The Victoria Sampler
In three sentences or less... I was going to try to tell you how breathtaking beautiful this creation is! But it's indescribable!!! Stitched on 28ct Platinum Linen in your choice of a teal, blueberry and mauve color scheme, or cranberry and deep greens, this sampler finishes approx 5 x 23 inches. Available as the leaflet with your choice of thread colors and yummy bead and pearl embellishments, it features a fantastic selection of beautiful stitches. The tree at the top is so elegant... and all the bands below are full of lacy stitches, Holiday greenery, and the verse "Sing the joy of Christmas, Of peace that never ends, share the love within your heart, With family and friends." The bulging accessory packs include all your necessary silks and overdyed flosses, metallic #4 Braid and the silk ribbons. The bead embellishments are tiny Mother-of-Pearl stars, Pearl disk beads and wonderful colors of Mill Hill and SJ glass seed beads. Excellent, clear instructions with enlarged photos, as well! Choose the pattern and one accessory pack for the piece. (unless you can't decide... then get both color packs!!!)
Bethlehem Christmas & Santa's Christmas
from Shepherd's BushTwo charming Merry Christmas greetings, you can stitch both or choose your favorite! Stitched on 28ct linen in shades of Weeks Overdyeds and Gentle Art Sampler Threads, each features a pack of handmade clay buttons from Just Another Button Company! Finishing approx 2 x 14"... Santa's design shows teeny stockings, snowflakes and holly, a candle, snowman, and a few other things, like stars. Colors used include some of the deep holiday shades of Garnet, Cranberry, Blue Spruce and Juniper.
Bethlehem Christmas -- which features a stitched angel, shepherd and tiny city of Bethlehem -- uses the Shepherd's-Bushy Antique Rose, Highland Heather and Plum color scheme. I love both of them! Available as individual leaflets, with separate embellishment packs... your fabric color choices can vary with these... depending on your personal preferences. Our shop models are being stitched on Lambswool, but if you'd like a pastel mauve or lavender for Bethlehem, or a deeper taupe or mocha for Santa... just let us know!
from Bent Creek
I love this! Stitch the alphabet, laced with Christmassy greenery, popcorn and even a fat little elf! The sixth in this set of designs, the rest are pictured on our Bent Creek page... and have remained stitcher's favorites! Stitched on 32ct dirty linen, it finishes 2 x 17... long and skinny. Christmas Row, and all the rest are available as single charted leaflets. The embellishments are just darling! The gals at Abecedarious in GA have done a great job choosing several new buttons this time around. There are four kernels of popcorn featured as well as two new Christmas Cookies! Lots of teeny holly leaves, pine cones and light bulbs... you'll love the set!
Santa Button Sampler from Homespun Elegance
Stitch a very primitive Santa holding his spindly tree... surrounded by alphabet letters... and four new antiqued brass santa buttons! Kind of a fun design, this measures only 5 x 8" when done... features Wisper thread for the beard, lots of Weeks Dye Works overdyeds... and those neat antiqued buttons from Homespun Elegance.
Available as a chart, we have the buttons as well.
Designed By Lavender & Lace
Here's a project for the dedicated stitcher! While I personally can't sit still long enough to stitch a pattern like this, so many of you can! When Jeanne, our stitcher, returned this to us, we were breathless with it's beauty! Santa is resting after his big day, in a big plump easy chair, in front of his festive tree. The ribbon border surrounding him has wonderful gold metallics all through it, the tree just glistens, and the shading in his chair gives it such depth. Good-sized, just like all the rest of L & L's charts, this finishes approx 13 x 16 on 28ct. It features several metallics, nine of the Needlepaint flosses, and a few Mill Hill glass beads. It's truly a work of art! Availability of all the extra threads varies -- they're all hard to keep in at one time. Get the chart first, check your stash, and then let us know what you need!
Silk Gauze Globe Kits
Let it Snow Globe
Christmas Tree Globe
These are absolutely exquisite designs, stitched with silk thread and touches of metallics on 40ct silk gauze! Each finishes a mere 1 1/4" square, but is full of teeny details and charm! Bright, cheerful colors... you'll definitely need a good light and magnifier to stitch these! They don't take as long to work as you would think... our stitcher logged 14 hours... you'll love your finished masterpiece!
designed by Heart's Content
This has been a customer favorite of ours for years and years! A beautiful deep green Christmas tree stitched over one thread on 36ct linen, the arched wooden frame is included in the kit! The design is very intricate, full of sparkly metallic ornaments of reds, purples, blues and golds and lots of tiny details. It finishes just a little under 3 x 4," and the hand-rubbed walnut frame measures 4 x 5." Complete kit includes the fabric, cotton and metallic flosses, 36ct linen, and the frame.
The Santa Series Ornaments
